group A looks like the real deal.

that's the D for sure.

lemme will be the 3LW

keep howden far away from kakko please.

chytl on the wing is best use of his skill set.

kravtsov in hartford for a few mos or first call up

stromer makes most sense on line 2. get the puck to kakko and let kreider create some room.

1st line on group B is 2/3 your 4th line perhaps ?

makes sense.

I will agree that if you’re going to proclaim Chytil as a center, especially the 2C, it’s disturbing to see him already shifted to wing. I don’t see Quinn making this move as someone convinced Chytil is a center. If people are wondering why some people see Chytil as a winger, here’s some the evidence for that belief.

Really hope that Strome on the 2nd line is an experiment...
Brooks said it well.

"Hence, if Strome is playing either second- or third-line center next week, it won’t necessarily be because he took the job, but because one of the kids could not. A prospect or two may need to start in the shallow end of the pool. If that is the case, so be it."

Strome being on the second line wouldn't be about Strome. If someone is going to struggle in that responsibility, better it be Strome than Chytil/Andersson/Howden.

With 2 games left it shouldn't be considered set in stone, though I have a hard time seeing anything change among the defensive six. Quinn will want to figure out if he wants to pair Staal with DeAngelo or with Fox.

Whether they keep Morrow or Smith is of mild interest, though.

looks like brooks' article about chytil yesterday came directly from the team...

If we're going by those practice groups we're looking at

Panarin-Zib-Buch
Kreider-Strome-Kakko
Names-Howden-Chytil
Lemieux-Lias-Fast
Boo/McKegg

Skjei-Trouba
Staal-TDA
Hajek-Fox
Smith

Hank
Georgiev

The rest are in Hartford

I have no earthly idea what Howden has done to deserve being further up the depth chart than Lias and if I have to watch Ryan Strome be horrible for as long as I did last year I will lose my mind.

That 3rd line is a bit ugly... I wonder if it wouldn’t end up being the 4th on many nights.

I would rather see:
Howden-Chytil-Fast
Lemieux-Lias-Names

Looks like Chytil not being able to hold down a C spot is forcing Kravtsov to the AHL. It's not the worst situation since they can use the time in Hartford fro Kravtsov as an aid to his transition to NA, but it forces them to run an inferior lineup than we hoped for.

Can already see that the bottom 3 lines will have a bunch of moving pieces this season.

I'd argue it was team's inability to move Namestnikov that punched Kravtsov's ticket to Hartford.

I frankly don't really care if Chytil plays center or wing. And i think entirely too much focus is being put on which line is presumably the 3rd vs the 4th. As currently constructed, I highly doubt there's a dramatic difference in ice time between those two lines.

I also doubt those lines stay constructed that way for any considerable amount of time.

I really don't see his team having a 4th line. More likely to have a 3A and 3B based on the combinations Quinn has. That could change with some injuries but you can't tell me one of thee lines is significantly better than the other:

Chytil-Howden-Fast
Lemieux-Andersson-Namestnikov

More like to have the lies divy up playing time like:

Line 1 - 20 minutes
Line 2 - 18 minutes
Line 3A - 11 minutes
Line 3B - 11 minutes

I actually thought Morrow looked good last night. Thought he looked better than Staal and Smith tbh.

But yes Tarmo needs another game. He should get at least 1 more. Also want to see Rykov but that depends on his health.

Yeah me too, it’s not that I really have anything against Morrow, Staal or Smith in a depth role. Heck I think Staal is playing better now than he did a few years ago. Playing zone D is a — much — better fit for him.

But I think Reunanen — kind of similar to how TDA climbed up the depth chart last season — has the most potential of all LDs we have in NY right now.

I don't get it either, but I'm also not hating Fast and Lemieux as linemates for Andersson. Their line (w/ Strome) looked great last night
That's a good point, those are fine line mates for him. I wish he'd get paired with at least one skill guy, but I can live with that. My fear is just that he gets like 7 minutes or 5v5 or whatever and then the rest of his TOI on the PK.

Interesting that Reunanen goes to AHL camp. I would have assumed they'd loan him straight back, based on what his Liiga team's release said.

perhaps they're hoping for him to get somewhat accustomed to Hartford and their coaching staff for the end of this year or next year. May just be a quick stop
