Andersson wasn't even that good in the pre-season to start at 2C over Chytil. Still saw way more offensive flashes from Chytil compared to Andersson.

@BobMarleyNYR you def get points for creativity brother! Lol

Can't blame Bob Marley for being on that good herb.

Would be a shocker to see Chytil sent down after all the positive strides he's taken in the offseason.
Maybe he's moved to wing, at worst... but the fact that he's been with Kreider all of camp begs to differ.

I think we'll see:
10 - 93 - 89
20 - 72 - 45 (eventual 24), with KK swapping places with Buch eventually

Bottom six something like:
90 - 21 - 16 (can easily see 74 sneaking in or rotating on this line to start)
48 - 50 - 17 (which sounds like a tough tough line to play against)

I dont feel we will see Kakko and Panarin together that often myself. They both want the puck, they want to drive their line, I think it's great to have two guys like that but putting them together is counterproductive imo. If Buch fails miserably maybe but even then I think it would be smarter to put Kravtsov there.

I really doubt Nieves sticks. 5 goals in 72 games, will be 26 during the year, and is on a 1-way deal.

That's not a profile other teams lack. He ain't gettin claimed and he is what he is.

He also was awful on Saturday night

Quinn is in a foul mood today.

Apparently stopped practice and read the team the riot act during group A’s practice.

Then in his posted press conference talked about guys doing too much to make team or move up on the team that pissed him off. Would love to be in his head right now.

I'd love to see Kravtsov on that line but can also see that happening with an injury this year...

Anyone else prefer Kravtsov plays 3rd line minutes with linemates like Howden/Andersson and Namestnikov/Strome over 1st line minutes with the likes of Fogarty and Meskanen.

Just a thought.

Problem is neither cap nor sheer number of forwards work for the Rangers without someone going down to the AHL, at least to start.

I sometimes fall into the trap of thinking Nieves and Fast are basically the same player, but Fast is actually way better.

Fast has a wicked shot. He rarely shows it, that's the problem.

Guess you missed the playoffs last year.

It's not that he can't be effective from time to time, it's that he's exactly the kind of player who stands out in preseason because his entire game is basically based around hustling and working hard but without enough skill to contribute offensively on a regular basis. So in preseason he looks great because he's going 100% against rookies, prospects, and vets who are going 75%

Then regular season starts and you wonder why you don't notice him very much any more except now and then, and a few weeks later he's being healthy scratched to give someone else a chance. Then he gets another chance and looks great for a few weeks before tailing off again...etc.

Chytil is always going to show more offensive flash and he very likely will be the better offensive player. Andersson - IF he pans out offensively - is never going to be a noticeable or flashy player. He’s going to clean up garbage, make smart subtle plays that lead to opportunities, create turnovers, etc. Truly in the Ryan O’Reilly mould. I don’t think he has O’Reilly’s ceiling, but crazier things have happened as well. Chytil is more of a playmaker and a guy who “makes things happen” with the puck on his stick. His offensive ceiling seems to be clearly higher. But Andersson makes things happen without the puck on his stick. He’s a less noticeable player but not necessarily less effective, especially in the long term. His skating looks to have more pep this season, which is a major plus. Also, Andersson was - to my eyes - our best defensive forward very easily in the games I’ve seen so far.

It's an interesting line to walk. You certainly want everyone playing to the game plan rather than as an individual, but you also don't want make guys 2nd guess their decisions to ensure they are doing the 'team thing' and stifling their natural game

David Quinn likes effort. But he detests over-effort.

I'm glad that a small sample size is making you happier instead of a larger, more meaningful body of work that is more representative of his actual talent.

Apparently he's some untouchable Messiah because he was...*checks notes*...not otherworldly in the playoffs last year?
