Not gonna lie I will be one of those people that doesn’t get it if Andersson doesn’t make it

I’m fine w Howden and Chytil too just run all 3 and don’t rush Kravtsov

Also get Morrow the **** out of here. Who told him he can play defense?

There is a very distinct reason to keep him around and him still being on a PTO is fine. He can be the 7th D all season unless any of the following happens:

  1. Marc Staal is the 7th D
  2. Someone on waivers is better than him
  3. An injury happens in the next three preseason games
Beyond that, they could cut him. Would much prefer signing him for 700K and having him be the 7th D over one of the younger guys getting stuck in the pressbox. They'll need to actually play to get better and Hartford over the pressbox is an easy decision.

There will be a ton of guys on waivers the next few days. We'll see if any of them stand up better than Morrow, but for now there is no harm having him be someone fighting for a spot to sit in the pressbox all season.

So Chytil a third year pro who got pp time last year.

Kakko a 2nd overall pick more dangerous than anyone we’ve got

Kravtsov our 2nd best offensive prospect

And 2 offensively gifted righty Dmen (one of which was our top dman last year) making the team for their offense aren’t going to be used in power play roles?

Maybe it's just me, but DiGiuseppe looked lost on the penalty kills against Philly. I think Nieves has paid his dues, and he brings a lot of energy. There's no rush with Kravtsov. He's so talented it probably wouldn't be a disaster, but why not just give him time in the AHL so he can get an idea of what fancy moves aren't going to work over here.

Well he's not a penalty killer, he's only played 2 minutes shorthanded in his career and won't get any time here either

Claesson was put on waivers, and i'd definitely take him over Morrow.

As for Andersson, it just wouldn't make any sense for him to be cut. So yeah, I'd be quite confused and angry if he was, especially if it was to keep a worse player on the roster.

I'm pretty sure Buch was on PP 1 because he's playing the next game and Kreider isn't.

Having McKegg locked in as the 13th guy, I think it’s between Andersson and Kravtsov as to who makes this team or not to start off.

Strome can very comfortably move to center to accommodate Kravtsov in the top 9.

I think this is the ideal 1st unit....and they ran this in the first game vs Jersey at MSG.

My only concern with that 2nd unit is that we're using all our RHD in those units and that the pairing coming off the PP might not be ideal. You'd be looking at multiple left handed players on defense when we already have the 3RD/3LD balance.

I'd like to use Panarin for the full 2 minutes of the PP. No reason not to try and get the most out of the PP and having him out there as a triggerman for 2 min works for me. Think Kravtsov starts in Hartford, so this could be what we start with:

Kreider
Panarin Zibanejad Buch
Trouba

(Lemiuex/Andersson/Howden)
Panarin Chytil Kakko
Fox/DeAngelo

If Kravtsov starts in the NHL, move him to the bumper spot and Chytil to the net front.

It seems like Andersson has busted his ass to work on his short comings. I love his attitude. He’s gritty. Just what we need.
Lemieux Andersson Fast can be a solid 3rd line.

Ok, your opening day roster.

Panarin - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Kreider - Chytil - Kakko
Namestnikov - Strome - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Howden - Fast

(McKegg, Nieves)

Trouba - Skjei
Staal - Fox
Hajek - DeAngelo

(Smith)

Lundqvist

(Georgiev)

Everyone sign on and I'll send it straight away as a recommendation from all those here at HF Boards. LOL
What happened to Andersson?

anyone else rooting for all 3 of chytil, andersson and howden to succeed and not an either/or situation between them? or that just me :naughty:

I’d like all 3 to make it. Lias as the 4C I’d also like Kravtsov to make it however I don’t see it as hurting him to start in the A.

The problem I have is with Gorton bringing back 90 16 and 17. At least one should have been moved this summer. made things extremely difficult on the cap and now blocks a young guy.

I have zero problem running 93 72 21 50 down the middle with McKegg there as back up. None of those guys is really a rookie. All have pro experience. Young? Sure but this has become a young league and we aren’t winning a Cup this year.

I agree, and I also think Trouba might be the best fit there too — which is something I would have argued against pretty strongly a month. Maybe TDA/Fox will make more sense there eventually, but my best bet right now is Trouba.

A very important ingredient for that unit is how strong Kreider and Ziba is at winning back lose pucks after shots etc. Trouba also contributes to that with his presence and range on the blueline. Kakko is very good too at fighting for those pucks and Panarin is quick. But it’s Kreider and Ziba that will get the lion share of those battles and they are great at it.

It’s a really exciting unit.

In addition, Fox/TDA will provide a lot of help for the 2nd unit too. But, I am not sold on that both of them will make sense on it at the same time. I would bet that both have very little experience of playing that left side AO/Ziba/Panarin shooting role, they are perfect for the high QB position but it’s hard to adopt to the role Panarin have in your scheme.

I would probably go with:
Strome-Chytil-Buch
Lias-TDA/Fox
