I wanted to take a moment to give props and appreciation to the NY Rangers. Prior to this loss, we just won 5 in a row, including an amazing come back on the Pens and two away wins in a very tough Montreal arena. Stop and think about that. Did anyone prior to this series think we'd leave Montreal up two games to none? Pretty damn impressive.

Winning every game is unrealistic. And the Habs were better this game than people are giving them credit for. Their skaters boxed out well in their own zone, limited rebounds, and their goalie didn't have to move east west all too often. Montreal executed enough to snag a road win they desperately needed. Kudos to them.

But we are still up 2-1. The Rangers have a great room, they respond well to these types of games, and I am fully confident in them going forward. And I think we can forgive a loss to a team who did just beat the Bruins, when we are still ahead 2-1 and just won 5 in a row. Have some faith in our team, they are having an amazing playoffs and are still up in this series.

Once again fellas. We are up 2-1 with a home game Sunday. What's the problem here? I still haven't heard all to many responses to my my question I raised which was: How many of you BEFORE series, if I would have told you it was a guarantee we would be up 2-1 heading into Game 4 at MSG would have taken that gladly and had been estatic? How many of you? I'd venture a guess and say 95% of y'all would. If anyone of you said we were going to be up 3-0 and on our way to a sweep I'd have called you a liar...not *** way.

Let's not get greedy here boys. Yeah we got some fluky BS goals scored against us. Yeah the reffing was piss poor. And yeah we had some bad puck luck. **** happens. We are up 2-1 and there is no reason at all we can't and don't win Sunday....none. We are the better team and this team is resilient.

Chill fellas especially to the Negative Nancy's in the crowd. All is good here in Ranger Nation....very good!

If there was a like button, I'd have used right here on this post.

Seriously, did anyone think they were going undefeated to the cup? The adversity will do them some good. If they are the better team let them earn it. They looked good tonight. Missed some great chances, carried much of the play.

If anything Id like to see a little more muscle. Sucked Carcillo got tossed. Thats BS call and his grit is valuable against the Habs.

Very frustrating game.

The only thing worse than the reffing was the ice.

The Garden ice sucks. Wtf I thought they had that fixed?

Miserable game

Can we ever give an opposing goalie credit? Tokarski played the best game of his life tonight. He robbed MSL TWICE from point blank off one timers. Not only that but he was solid technically when the Rangers consistently tried to jam pucks in from in tight.

It's also not a surprise though; this is a team that lacks finishers and is loaded with playmakers. I think we take game 4 easily. We dominated them tonight. They won't get this lucky twice in a row

This. +1

man that 1st goal was a real softie. we dominated the 1st, you know hank was starting to get in montreal's head, and then that goal happens and its a different game.

I'm never a doom and gloom guy, but I fully expect Montreal to win game 4. Their goalie is hot, they know they can beat Hank. It's a different series now.

Btw, what a crappy goal to lose on. First they get a fluky goal to go ahead, then we get an even flukier one to tie it and they get one that's the flukiest of them all to win the game...come on!

And MSL, please shoot top corner every chance you get. You'd have had 2 goals this game if you just shot the puck mere inches higher. Thank you.

I really do not expect a Canadiens win on Sunday. Their hold on things was tenuous at best. The Rangers just forgot to go that extra bit, thought they did not quite need the all out push. I guess I was thinking it would come but it didn't.

I will bet my paycheque (in monopoly money) that they will storm the Habs in Game 4 and win convincingly.

There seems to be very little signs of intelligent life here /buzzlightmeme.

The overreactions after one game is quite embarrassing, honestly. **** happens.

It's just that this team has managed to lose like this all ****ing season because it has 2 guys that can consistently put it in the back of the net historically. One of those guys is ****ing Nash. The team just does not have many guys that can pick the corner with any sort of consistency. Look how many shots wide they had today, or easy opportunities. Not taking anything away from Tokarski, he played a similar game to Lundqvist the other game. Made some great saves and didn't make mistakes on some cupcake shots. The difference is I feel like the Rangers actually played well defensively in the final two periods last game, this game Montreal was ass defensively but the Rangers don't have the skill to take advantage of it.

Rangers had good chances offensively tonight. Enough to win but still lack the finish and follow through. Too many bullish! T wraparounds. Nash had so many close chances...

Officiating was an abomination tonight. we coudve had it tonght but were still up in the series.

Mtl was ready to lose at so many points tonight. ..

Sigh. .. what a shame

Did this remind anyone else of game 3 of the first round against the Devils in 2008. That game had a fluke bounce to win in OT too and they also cut it to 2-1. I think there was more than 1 fluke bounce.

Playoffs: 4-4 at home

Reg season: 20-17-4 at home

Home ice disadvantage

boston was the better team as well. this is why the doubt is setting in. Can Montreal get through 2 rounds being outplayed, outclassed, outworked and playing garbage hockey? Or better yet, can they win a cup like that? It's crazy, but it almost seems like the answer is yes when it comes to them. I don't recall ever seeing a team in the playoffs play as bad as them and going this far.. where does it stop? That's why tonight's result is concerning.

John Madden off Staal's skate in OT to win it. Staal wound up scoring the game winner in game 4 with 3 or 4 minutes left. Maybe he does the same Sunday since it was his mam that he blew covering that scored the winner tonight.

Nah, the team that wins deserves to win. Rangers deserved to win Game 2. Rangers did not really deserve to win tonight.

what?

no.

Henrik deserved to win Game 2..the rest of the team..not so much.

The 2-1 series is really where it should be based on the play of the first 3 games.

was watching highlights of that series the other day on youtube. i think it was john madden who was behind the net and centered it and it went off a ranger skate and in. it may have been staal. we never get bounces like that in playoff overtimes, so frustrating.

Maybe, I'm sick to my stomach now. That team could finish better than this team it seems and Marty was an abomination that series. I don't know anything about Tokarski, for all we know we're looking at the next superstar goalie. Most importantly I don't trust the Rangers in these types of games. The amount of games they lost like this has to be in the 20s.

I don't understand why there isn't more outrage on this board with those two HUGE missed calls in the first? It really killed our momentum in the game. Also, I can guarantee, there will be NO supplemental discipline handed down to Prust on that cheap, dirty, ******** hit!

I was a little surprised by the game tonight. I thought Montreal would control most of the game since they would have little hope if they lost. In the end, the Rangers were the better team. The only question was whether the Mont. goalie would play shut down hockey. He did and now the rangers must beat him. It's not as if they didn't have chances.

This isn't a super Ranger team. It's a team with limited offense at times and so far has summoned up enough to win. This is a series. The winner will be the team that wears down the loser.

In the end a few bounces beat the Rangers tonight. I really thought that after 2 solid wins in Montreal, and a secure lead in the series this was a game that left them vulnerable.

We'll see Sunday if they can prove they're the better team. I am pleased to see that they controlled much of the game as they did against Pitt in much of the series.
