management issues?????
please clarify what is going on in team tre kronor?
It's just that even with the crap lineup on paper, the team shouldn't be this atrocious. Even a pure SHL roster should make losses look dignified. Wikegård is a TV analyst and a former SHL coach. He's been fuming the entire tournament over how Mårts can let a national team commit kindergarden mistakes all tournament long and basically don't do anything right, in any game.

but i didn't think that tre kronor were atrocious i thought that they played at the best level they could with the men power they had. :dontknow:

Duchene's a terrific player, and there's a reason he was named to Canada's Sochi team, but I agree with the Oilers fans in that he hasn't been a great fit with McDavid.

I think they should try giving McD a more natural winger like Gallagher/Marchand, or even Domi.

That said they should be able to produce, too much talent not to.

I'm fine if Gallagher gets stapled to the bench...We don't need Marchand and Marchand-lite...Both take stupid penalties ( Gallagher took one today on his first shift, if memory serves bout 11 minutes in, then took another in the third which subsequently led to that two man disadvantage which might have let an inferior opponent back in the game...Ok Gallagher got an assist coloUr me unimpressed

the real Marchand is the better goal scorer , better pk'er....better agitator...better skater...better however u slice it...

With Marchand I'm willing to take the good with the bad...Gallagher NOT so much...

How can you like such a stupid rule?
Offside in the crease. Ridiculous rule just slows the game down.

The eternal argument for it will always be that it's black and white.

It takes judging out of the game and in the minds of many people (like Ferraro)... that can only be good.

Sweden needed a really good performance from their goalie. Some of those goals were shots that could have been stopped.

Talbot came up with some big saves to keep Sweden off the scoresheet.

I don't get the Swedes in here attacking their team.

It's 1 game do or die. Talbot showed up today. Markstrom didn't really show up. He wasn't horrible but he wasn't that good and if you look at the rosters - Canada's was better (which meant Markstrom needed to have an impressive game).

Glad Canada won, but pretty disappointing performance from Sweden. Still not convinced that this Canadian Team can win Gold, but hope i am wrong.

I am confident we will beat Russia in the Final or better yet get to revenge the loss to Finns. I hope the latter but I think the Russians are more likely. It is just a gut feeling. I am a bit more worried about the semi but they will pull through :)

I don't think we saw a proper presentation for Sweden today. I have huge respect to Sweden as a (hockey) nation but this just was not their tournament. I am pretty sure that they bounce right back at The World Cup.

Any Canadians scrambling to get back on the bandwagon? The threads during and after the Finland game was a pathetic display by some.

I tend to avoid GDTs when things are going bad for the team I cheer for. I never got off the bandwagon.

There's no question which was the better team here, neither on paper nor out on the ice. No one is trying to take away anything from team Canada. But I and many with me were reserving judgment on this team until we had played a do-or-die game.
Now that we have the result, we can look back and see that it was a lack luster effort all tourney. Very disappointing that they couldn't find anything in this team worth a damn. I was really hoping they would show up and end on a high note but this was as bland an effort as they come.

Mårts has turned into the big scrapegoat and now we are replacing him....with............Grönborg

Sweden lost because of their defense. It wasn't Markstroms fault at all. They also didn't have the ability to create any dangerous scoring chances. Talbot had 1 really great save off Backlund in the 3rd, and a couple of good saves in the game overall. But honestly, he didn't have to be good in this game because Canada would have won regardless. Definitely not trying take any praise from Talbot or anything, but the difference between him and Markstrom in this game is that Talbot plays behind a great team, while Markstrom plays behind a horrible team that never show up. Same goes for the Sweden-Russia game. Bobrovsky with the easiest 36 save-performance i've ever seen.

EDIT: If you don't get the swedes "attacking" their team, i doubt you've paid any attention to the tournament at all from Swedens perspective.

Never went off it.

Don't believe in that stuff unless it is crystal clear the team I am going for is outmatched. The Finland game did not show that, it showed things that needed to be improved that is all.

I never left the bandwagon. Finland was a bad game with some bad puck luck and sloppy finishing. It was just a game and it was exactly the right time to have an off night.

I will give Canada 80% chance of winning (OT shootout whatever) the remaining games, so my bad math tells me that's 64% odds of winning the tournament. And that is an internet fact ;)

I fully agree with the bolded. This is bad, no matter how many who declined the invite. According to this thread, more than 30 Czechs and 16 Finns also said "no-thanks":

Kind of ironic:

Tre Kronor lost to Czech Republic, who lost to USA, who lost to Germany, who lost to France, who lost to Belarus, who lost to Hungary, who got relegated. That´s quite telling..:laugh::laugh:
