Any Canadians scrambling to get back on the bandwagon? The threads during and after the Finland game was a pathetic display by some.

Meh. Never really fell off. That said, not that impressed with the team this year. Expecting a win vs the US and a loss to Russia/Finland in the gold medal game.

He had one bad game, so did the rest of the team. Get over it.

He gave up two big rebounds early Today ( even Ray F commented on this , some minutes after I posted it )...he also got himself outa position soon after one of those juicy rebounds and had to make a desperation save...

People were calling me on this...and I responded...What can I tell u? Didn't get the memo that Talbot's above reproach...

I also said later ( paraphrasing ) that as the game wore on he looked more comfortable... making some nice saves...especially that spectacular toe save in the third...look good on the pk and on that 2 on 1 as well ( well positioned )...He seemed to be tracking the puck much better today yadda yadda...

Even so, he might well get exposed AGAIN ( hopefully not ) vs the likes of Suomi or Russia or conceivably even vs an, on paper, over matched team USA ...only time will tell...if it was me though, I'd still give him a short leash...

I've no qualms, if he lets in a couple of stinkers early, switching to Pickard

PS: For those who don't know.. I'm responding to old postings with this commentary...haven't got past page 11 yet :D

why on earth would you break up Scheifele and Stone who have been so good together?

Stone could play with McD and Hall, they looked good together previously...If u move Duchene to center ( and I thought about this too pre-game and after ) one of the other centers ( not McD ) has to get shifted to wing...simple math really...

This Swedish generation needs a Mats Sundin badly. That guy would have played with a broken leg if his country called.

Didn't Sundin have emergency dental surgery one time, and then headed over the pond to play for his country?

Well this tournament is for this yrar i hope Finland win the gold this year! And see you guys in December when its WJC!

It would help balance the lineup IMO.

Honestly there are a bunch of combinations you could go with. I love Scheifele's game and could see him playing in the top 6 RW spot too, or Stone, or Perry.

Canada NEEDS their best players going and right now it's evident there is no chemistry on that line.

Marchand-McDavid-Scheifele
Hall-Duchene-Perry
Domi-O'Reilly-Stone
Jenner-Brassard-Gallagher
Reinhart

In terms of the most god given talent on TC ( factoring in skating ability and suitability for Big ICe...it's McD , Hall, Duchene with the latter two , arguably switching spots...

Why not move ur second or third best player to center, since he is a natural center ?

sorry no edit button...but I'm clearly on the same page as the poster I quoted...though my line combos might be different

TBH i think Stone can play with anyone ,we havent seen the best of him yet :handclap:

Yeah lets break up the best line with the two best forwards in terms of corsi to satisfy the HF boards crowd of who they think is better.

Stone was the highest scoring right winger in Canada this year. Scheifele was the highest scoring canadian player on this team in terms of ppg after Mcdavid.

Maybe move Mcdavid to play with them? But dont break up the best line on the team, it makes absolutely no sense.

O'Rielly Scheifele Stone should matchup against the other teams top lines and watch them dominate.

Yeah the Swedish fans werent too pumped about this team ,i can see why .That was almost a SEL club

Gallagher , after his assist, ( took me fifty tries to post this!!!)lobbying NOT to be stapled to the bench next game...

Sorry et al about repeating the same post ad nauseam...Usually when it works screen says thanks for your post...nothing was happening...so I just kept clicking ... computer was frozen

thats why I dont like being called Canadian

we are mocking our opponent players when we're winning.

we finding thousand of excuses when we're losing

Seems to be mostly Swedes disparaging their roster, and making (valid imo ) excuses why their team isn't the medal threat they should be/ usually are...

Canadians often make the same ( often no less valid excuses ). I guess it's OK when Swedes / Euros do it...JUST Not when it's Ur Fellow Canucks :sarcasm:

This is why Canadian dislike this tournament. Usually it means pretty much nothing because the best players are doing more important things or taking a vacation. Usually you euros just belittle us for thinking this.

Now you know how it feels.

Not to play devil's advocate...BUT...Are u forgetting already about last year's team Canada? WOWZERS!!! Team Canada WC in 2008 in Quebec was damn good too...too bad they lost in the final to a very good Russian Team...

And here we are with a so-so team by TC standards in the Gold Game again :naughty:

Relax, little shinny bros south of the border...just kidding ( sort of ):D

Hmmm....they beat Czechs who finished first in A pool

Sure but the Czechs were a pretty bad team that benefitted from playing the Russians at the right time.

Plus the US still needed a terrible game from that Czech team and all the breaks to end up squeaking by in a shoot out.

When the US and Canada played earlier this tournament it looked like an NHL team playing a Pee Wee team. The US wasn't competitive at all.

The US roster is brutal and they are playing about as well as you would expect with such a brutal roster that they have.

Remember how posters were saying Sweden would "take it to Canada" just because of how poorly Canada played the game before.. ya right hahah #ontothenext

I only remember one, ONE Canuck poster, in this thread, predicting Canada would lose...

Canada won fair, but with a few to many goals.

McJesus had again 0p against the "better" teams despite canada scores 6 goals tonight, and he has 0 goals in the whole tournament so far, only a few assist against weaker teams. Probably one of the worse players on team canada so far this tournament and a very overrated player.

A stand up guy like you has to get his licks in some way doesn't he?

I think you are going to find out that Mcdavid is going to have a pretty darn good career when all is said and done, the kind of career where you would never admit it here but find yourself thinking...."great player, wish he was Swedish".

You lost, just say good game and take it like a man and move on.

This post has to be alcohol assisted...

Tanev was a beast on that 6 on 3 for Sweden.

Really underrated D-man

:handclap:

The guy is a complete beast, he is literally hamhuis 2.0. Basically the same exact player, but a better shot blocker.
