I loved that too. Usually you hear the opposite "I want to prove team X wrong or they made mistake for trading me"

I like that hes saying he wants to show the Isles who they have.

Im glad hes healthy and playing full contact. I thought for sure he wouldn't be ready for the Start of the season.Hopfully he gets some Preseason action..

Could we see an all Swede line in Bport?

Persson Sudstrom Collberg

I think Hickey said something similar when he was claimed by the Islanders. Regardless, the more I heard about Collberg, the more I like him. Well see how he does in Bridgeport this year getting top six minutes (possibly top line minutes). I think there is a good chance we'll see him start out with Sundstrom and Persson, two big players that would compliment his game well. From the quotes in the article, it sounds like they are on board with that train of thought.

OT: It sounds like the Isles really wanted this kid two years ago.

Yes, it seems like if Montreal had not taken him the Islanders had Collberg rated higher than Pokka.

If u think about it its good he was selected b4 pokka bc islanders would have taken him and pokka would be elsewhere pokka is clearly a better prospect and now we have both so it works out for the best

Not the best week for the Islanders' goalie prospects in the KHL. Linus Söderström has started the season really well in Djurgårdens' U20 team - hopefully he'll earn a promotion to the SHL team during the season, but so far it's probably for the best that he gets to carry his own (junior) teams rather than sit on the bench watching the adults.

I think the Islanders are adding some heights and weights to these guys. Then TALLEST I've ever seen Dal Colle listed was 6'2", most had him at 6'1 1/2". Now all of a sudden he's 6'3". Mayfield and Pedan are both 6'5" all of a sudden.

Hey Mikkel, great work. Any reason why Koskinen isn't on your prospects list?

If anyone here lives near Providence RI, the Providence Bruins have a groupon right now for $18 tickets (normally $38). Good for all home games this season. I'm about to pick up a couple for when the sound tigers come to town.

Expires at Midnight tonight.

With the exception of the KHL players, I took all the heigts and weights off the Islanders' website. If you click on the link with Dal Colle, it now takes you to his OHL page, where he is listed as significantly smaller (171 vs. 184). I'm not sure if those are just his measurements before last season, while the Islanders have more recent numbers, or if it is simply a case of the NYI padding the numbers.

Hey Mikkel, great work. Any reason why Koskinen isn't on your prospects list?

Technically he's too old to be a prospect, but he's certainly still an interesting asset, so I will probably add him to the list anyway. He didn't have the best week either though.

Nice catch, now edited:sarcasm:

24-JAN-84 is, well, my birthday, and I'm not sure if the mistake is just due to force of habit, or if I subconsciously still refuse to accept that these players are 10 years (to the date, in this case) younger than me. I still look at e.g. Söderström's birth date and assume the numbers must somehow be wrong :help:

Looks like Sorokin came back strong, 39 saves on 40 shots in a 2-1 overtime win.

39 saves for Sokorin on 40 SOGs. They win 2-1. Good for him because he was coming off a really bad game against Barys.

Just got out of class, nice to read he had a strong game today. :handclap:

cool thing about that KHL app Rex, you can set notifications to let you know what's going on with Mettalurg Nk's games. That's how I knew the won. I still needed to go onto the KHL.en websit to find out who was in net though.

Definitely not like reading box scores from here, had to click on teams, Sorokin was listed as yes and the other goalie no which told who played, had to click on goals, shots on goals to get the goalie stats.

The app is very good, makes following Sorokin a lot easier.

Wonder if there is an easy way to follow Soderstrom.

Watching JHS' interview on the NYI site, I really hope this kid makes it in the NHL. The league could use more guys who seem like they are enjoying themselves and have a personality.

I guess he is wearing 66 with us, as he was asked about wearing it, and he played down the supposed issue, saying it's what he wore in juniors, it's the number on his helmet.

Agreed. The key to this is John Tavares. We have our stoic chief, and everyone else knows they are an indian. A personality like JHS without a player like Tavares already on the team could be like the wild wild west. But with JT, I have almost zero concern.

What the chances the Islanders return Pulock to Brandon? The rumor here is that he might be back

It's something that most followers of the NY Islanders haven't thought of BUT is entirely possible. Depends on a number of things. Mainly how healthy and deep the Islanders Blueline is 1-15 (Pro Team and Bridgeport)

Sending Pulock back the WHL would allow the Islanders to delay the clock on starting Pulock ELC by another year which is $$$$ (A Wang move for sure).

That said, I doubt the Islanders choose to go that route, and see him playing in Bridgeport to start the year.

They would have to add another quality NHL Defenceman (without losing any to waivers) and Pokka would have to stay in the states for the Islanders to be deep enough to make such a move.

IMO Zero. Sure Bport is stacked but Pulock would gain nothing from playing another year in junior. He physically ready to play pro... Id rather see Pedan in the ECHLand Pulock in Bport than to send him back to Brandon.

Personally I would be shocked.

The Sound Tigers got Brent Thompson back as their head coach (who has done a good job with defenseman), and from what we've heard, Pulock is physically mature but needs to adjust to the speed and defensive side of the game at the pro level.

Also, Pulock impressed Isles brass last year in camp, I think they want to get him acclimated to the pro game as soon as possible.
