Only want Strome with the big club if he makes them better; no treading water. You create a culture of winning when you raise the bar.

The reasoning I've seen for keeping him in Bridgeport because of his age also cultivates a losing mentality. He obviously makes the team better than Conacher or McDonald.

Strome is better than Martin, Cizikas, Clutterbuck, Bailey, Grabner, and Conacher, therefore he is automatically one of our best 12 forwards, so how can he not make the team?

If he isn't on the Islanders for the entire season I will be furious, the kid has nothing to learn in the AHL, he completely dominated, and he played really well when he was given a chance on the Island.

this "selfish" kid is not supposed to be blocking shots and sacrifice his body for the team. Doesn't he know hes selfish? Jeez, kid cant even get that right. Total bust.

How could he be doing this if he was selfish, because he obviously is. I know it's a fact because I learned it from a random stranger on a message board.

Also, isn't it selfish of him to try not to be selfish so the media changes his mind about him. He is doing it because he cares what people think about him and wants to prove people wrong and that he isn't selfish. How selfish of him!

I appreciate your insight and agree somewhat about your thought process on this, BUT, the Isles NEED offense, and there is a reason why he was called up that second time, he's the Isle's best prospect and will bring that offense. I know we all think the Islanders have a good offense, but they were 18th in goals scored, not 8th.

If he worked out with JT i'm hoping Strome comes in this season and gets charged with murder every night as he just kills people.

Strome's time has come to be an NHL roster player.
He is 22 years old and it isn't like he didn't succeed at the AHL pro level. Strome is where Jaden Schwartz was a year ago, poised to make the leap from top prospect/NHL inductee to full fledged NHL contributor.

A few years ago I tried to keep an updated table of how the Islanders' prospects had been doing, but the past two seasons I never really had the time to get it started. I'm sure it hasn't been missed by anyone, as the HF Isles have been spoiled over and over again by the likes of Inform the Masses, Degeneration Rex etc.

I like to have an easy overview though, and as it's quite fun to make and research, I've posted a new board, and - if people are not too vehemently against it - I'd try to post updates regularly as well. Hopefully this can supplement those awesome daily updates others bring to these threads.

All the positions are taken from the recently finished ranking of "2014/15 NYI Top-25 Prospects According to HF Isles" (well done Blinkman360!). All measurements are taken from the Isles' website, except for those players who have already started the season. In those cases the measurements are from their respective leagues (ie. the KHL) - I assume these are more recent and accurate (see: Kirill Petrov is listed as 198 lbs. on http://islanders.nhl.com/club/roster.htm?type=prospect, but listed as 110 kg on the KHL website, which translates as 242 lbs. - quite the difference!).

I've been playing around with the format for the tables, as I tend to read most posts on my phone, and the tables don't exactly look pretty there. Any suggestions for improvement will be appreciated. Furthermore, if there are any mistakes (and I'm sure there is), please don't hesitate to point them out ;)

As mentioned in this thread already, the KHL season have begun. Other European leagues are about to start also, but the Islanders have remarkably few Europe-based prospects at this point, so things will not really pick until the various NA leagues start.

Linus Söderström's Djurgården have started the season in the inaugural European Champions Hockey League, but he has yet to dress for his team. I assume he is the third choice and that he will play most of the season in the U20-league. He did successfully start for the Swedish U20 national team a few weeks ago, and he seems like a safe bet to play in the upcoming WJC, although perhaps not as a starter. Sorokin, likewise, should be there, I guess.

Strome will make the team better if for no other reason than if we don't play him, we are more or less forced to play either Clutterbuck or McDonald on the left half boards for the second PP unit. Strome is our only righty shot forward with enough offensive skill to play on the PP or in the top 6 other than Okposo. That alone should guarantee him a spot on the team as you need more than one of those to compete.

September 6, WHL Pre-Season
Regina 4, Brandon 1-Burroughs 1 goal, + 1.

Thanks a lot for these continuous updates.

A discussion over the summer involved where fans might like to take hockey road trips. An idea (perhaps for next year) would be to take in some junior games in late September when the CHL regular season has started and Canadian weather is still decent (although it is snowing here today). (This would not work for school teachers.)

A trip could involve, for example, the Maritimes, where there are six teams in relative close proximity (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI) in the Q and some great scenery not too far from Long Island. Then one might catch an Islanders exhibition or early season game in Montreal or Boston.

As an aside: Jim Prentice became Premier of Alberta (like a Governor) very recently. I mention this only because his uncle is Dean Prentice, who played many years in the NHL in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, including the Rangers.

We do till he reaches UFA status(Summer 2016)

Are you sure? I thought that the Islanders held the rights to Koskinen (and Nilsson, Petrov, and Ullström) indefinitely, or at least until there is a signed transfer agreement between the NHL and the KHL. None of these players have a signed contract with the Isles, do they?

always good to see how our kids are doing. thanks MIKKEL! what about Nilsson, Koskinen, Williams, McAdam and Poulin?

Thanks a lot. I'm using the HF Isles top 25 prospect list - Nilsson is there, Koskinen and Poulin are ineligible using the HF prospect definition (at least that's my understanding), while neither McAdam nor Williams made the top 25 (McAdam was a HM though). I will try to keep an eye on them, but probably not update their stats regularly.

In related news, Koskinen's team Sibir has only played 1 KHL game so far this season. Koskinen stopped 25 shots in a 6-1 win, so both him and the team got off to a good start. It was less happy news for Ilya Sorokin, as he was part of the losing effort (Sorokin started on the bench, but appears to have been put in net at the start of the second period, when Metallurg was already down 3-0). The teams will play each other again today.

David Ullström played his first game for his new team Severstal yesterday, and he registered an assist in a 2-3 loss to Dinamo Moscow.

Ak Bars Kazan also played yesterday, but Anders Nilsson was rested after starting the first 2 games of the season, while Kirill Petrov wasn't dressed at all (I'm assuming this is injury-related), so no Islanders-prospects saw any ice time.

I always enjoyed your updates as well as Rex's and ITM's, you always did a great job.

I don't think I'm really worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as those, but THANKS anyway ;)

I think we either trade his rights or let him go UFA. He's not coming here unless he's guaranteed an NHL spot.

Problem is, he may actually be worth that guarantee by the end of this season.

We'll see... No reason to let him go until the rights run out. Maybe another team will show big interest in some type of trade?
