TSN: Preds listening to offers on Saros.

Skinner was a Calder finalist finishing 2nd 2 years ago, was an all star last season and seems to be going again this year. He will likely be the starting goalie for team Canada next Olympics.

Any team would bust if their starting goalie gets injured. I don't think Saros would want to go to a team where he won't be the clear starter and Oilers aren't breaking the bank on a starting goalie upgrade.
Tandems are becoming more and more of a thing for a reason. Edmonton, more than any other team outside of maybe Toronto, is done as a contender with a Skinner injury or if he goes through a cold snap again.

He was horrible to start this season and was horrible in the post season last year. Is that something you want to risk again when these next 2 years are your best opportunity to win on paper?

What I got from this article is that Trotz appears to be a semi-competent GM and is therefore willing to listen to offers on everyone just in case someone is stupid enough to make him an offer that he can't refuse. I'm still trying to figure out why LeBrun mentions Saros by name though...

Fitz has to put a good piece on the trade block at this point. Gotta be Mercer or Holtz plus a 1st. We potentially missed out on Hellebyuck (who knows what the ask for him really was) and our goaltending isn’t going to get better.

If Mercer OR Holtz +1st (2025 if we don’t make the ECF this year) isn’t enough then I’d rather Fitz walk away.

The sources say they're willing to listen to offers, but that they'd also like to sign him to an extension. If he does extend his contract, would Nashville consider moving Askarov?
We were offering Askarov + 1st to get in to the top 4 at last years draft so we could draft Smith/Michkov. It'd have to be a legitimate top prospect for us to consider.

Good to hear, Nashville needs to either go for it or rebuild/retool, they love being in mediocrity since their Cup run.
We're already deep into our rebuild, we just stay competitive instead of tanking.
Look at our prospect pool.

Has any club acquired a starter at the TDL and it helped them in the playoffs. Lots for goalies to learn about their club and how guys play in a short timeframe.
The Oilers got Roloson at the deadline in 2006.
Maybe the Roy deal to Colorado? But nearly thirty years ago is way too far to go back for a comp.
That might be the closest but still not the return that is being quoted here. That deal was Roy and Keane, one of the best defensive forwards in the league, for for Kovalenko, Ruchinsky and Thibault. I think Keane cancels out much of Kovalenko so this is basically one of the best goalies of all time for Thibault, Ruchinsky and a small plus. Frankly the difference in value between Saros now and Roy at the time of that trade would have been huge. Of course the circumstances were also very different. The Prdes don't need to trade Saros so they can afford to ask for the moon.

Of course the big issue with goalies is that you can only play one at a time and even the very best will only give you 60 or so games. If you pay big for a goalie both in terms of assets and in salary you have to be 100% sure that what you are getting is a real difference maker. On teh flip side if you have two good goalies it can also present problem. If the Preds re-sign Saros to a long term big money deal they could soon find themselves with a dilemma. What to do with Askarov? Its a good problem to have but as some point such situations almost alwya come to a head.

I’m fine with knies + cowen + 1st for Saros

Would need to send Samsonov the other way, but a saros/Woll tandem is giving me a physical reaction

Isn't Cossa not that great? He's got a 2.90 GAA in the AHL this year. We'd be after Edvinsson, Wallinder or Danielson.
He’s been solid lately, and is really young. Goalies take time but he’s 6 foot 6 and crazy athletic. Berggren is young middle 6 high skill winger nhl ready

With Askarov waiting in the wings a goalie isn't really our main focus, if we were trading Saros goalie would be low on our list in any package.

We're also loaded with wingers, we have Tomasino, Evangelista, Kemell, Afanasyev, L'Hereaux and Wood looking for spots, and those are just our recent 1st and 2nd rounders.

We've also got three 2nd rounders this year, I think any serious offer would including picks would need to include a 1st.

EDM can't afford whatever they need. Have to add Campbell which increases the price even more. Holloway is a non-starter since he's a contributing roster member (assuming he can shake whatever injury curse he has). Broberg and Bourgault likely aren't worth jack to anyone.

Pretty much no trade to be made here, unless youre going go Broberg + 4 1sts (last two 2 with lottery protection). Too bad we don't have any more slightly used Reid Schaefers lying around.

The Oilers should absolutely be looking to add Saros. Skinner runs real hot and cold and what do you do if he’s on a cold streak or even worse, injured? Go back to Campbell? Lol

The Oilers have 1.5 seasons until Draisaitl has his massive increase in salary. Take advantage of that now

Lol. Nope

Hot Skinner + 5M cap space + 1sts++++ >>>>>>>>>> Cold Saros
