TSN: Preds listening to offers on Saros.

Saros + Glass for Mercer + Vanecek?

Glass can play bottom-six C and fill a warm body need that Mercer leaves behind.
love this, Cody glass is the Cody Hodgson of 2023

Yeah the best I would offer as a devils fan is either

1. Casey + picks / lesser prospect (Stillman etc) / ahl talent (Footes, Clarke..) + Vanecek
or
2. Hämeenaho + Gritsyuk + picks / lesser prospects / ahl talent + Vanecek

And I think many teams could match that. Nashville doesn't want older veterans and I wouldn't want to give up our young roster players as that would be one step forward and another one backwards.

At most maybe Holtz, but only because Ruff hates him and refuses to give him icetime. He's pacing to 20 goals in bottom6 (4th line atm) minutes, surely he'd be a 30+ goal scorer with 1st line + 1st pp minutes. I'd hate to lose Mercer as I feel like he is the type of player (two way grinder with skill) that cup contenders are build from. And absolute no for Nemec and Hughes.

I love Saros, especially as a Finn, but like always goalies are unpredictable and you never know how will they adjust to a new system and environment. Will he extend or just bounce after the contract is up.
then enjoy golfing in mid April

Saros to devils starts with Mercer +casey/holz+pick

Any GM will consider listening on any player if the offer blows him away. Our team will consider trading a player if another team wildly overpays for him. What a newsworthy story. NJ is willing to listen on Mercer if the offer blows the GM away. I’m sorry that offer you proposed doesn’t blow NJ away so they don’t listen. Preds are free to look elsewhere and blow another team away with an offer for a player they like.

The sources say they're willing to listen to offers, but that they'd also like to sign him to an extension. If he does extend his contract, would Nashville consider moving Askarov?

Has any club acquired a starter at the TDL and it helped them in the playoffs. Lots for goalies to learn about their club and how guys play in a short timeframe.

Roloson with Edmonton I think.

Ken Dryden was a late season call up from the AHL and won the Conn Smythe would be another example of a guy coming in late and going on a run. There have been a few of these late season call up scenarios over the years.

It's nice to see the Preds GM shoot for the moon. Multiple 1sts! He won't get it and they might end up in a Chychrun situation, where the asking price was astronomical and the team waited too long to pull the trigger and had to settle for less than some of the previous offers on the table.

Success/ failure does not matter.

market drives it and there is a high demand for starting goalies

i stick by what I said around 2 1st and 2 2nds. Some are talking of Nemec or other recent top 5 OA getting moved. Thst isn’t happening..
Why would success or failure not matter? Do you think Florida would do the Chiarot trade again?

Not even being a dick but the oilers have really bare set of cuboards and any 1sts are likely in the late teens early 20's.
The devils and sabres have the pieces but their GM's seem really conservative.
I think most Oiler fans know that our cupboards are pretty bare. Especially when it comes to young forwards. We have McLeod and Holloway, but they aren't on the same level as a Byfield type in terms of offensive potential.

They would be one step closer but still need a top 4 dman and a bottom 6 guy for depth.

Byfield, Kaliyev and 1st for Saros.
They're announcing the bottom six guy this morning.

The defense is playing great as is. I wouldn't say no to blueline depth help of course, but Nurse/Ceci and Ekholm/Bouchard are both looking like very good pairs right now.

Edmonton says No. Don’t need, don’t want Saros.
The Oilers should absolutely be looking to add Saros. Skinner runs real hot and cold and what do you do if he’s on a cold streak or even worse, injured? Go back to Campbell? Lol

The Oilers have 1.5 seasons until Draisaitl has his massive increase in salary. Take advantage of that now

This is probably the only guy in the league I’d want to move futures and prospects for being a Leaf fan

He's not wrong tho.
For a team with very little success and have only traded a 1st at most once since 2013 ( moved down last year?) It's crazy how barren things are and it's not like they are with the big club contributing.
How barren things have become is largely because of the picks used towards rentals. Some times foolishly. The low volume of quality prospects isn't news to us. The Oilers have been in the buyer's market for some time now.

But suggesting that Dylan Holloway and Xavier Bourgault aren't quality prospects at this point is just ignorant. Particularly when a significantly lesser prospect in Reid Schaefer was a big part of a trade that acquired them Mattias Ekholm.

Edmonton should pay literally whatever the price is for him

If they get Saros they win the Cup
Nothing is guaranteed. Skinner and the team started off brutal, changed the way they play, and Skinner is only behind Helly since Nov 24th. 2 full months.

Skinner was a Calder finalist finishing 2nd 2 years ago, was an all star last season and seems to be going again this year. He will likely be the starting goalie for team Canada next Olympics.

Any team would bust if their starting goalie gets injured. I don't think Saros would want to go to a team where he won't be the clear starter and Oilers aren't breaking the bank on a starting goalie upgrade.
