I have a feeling AV is gonna remake this team in the offseason/at the deadline. The only guys I think are definitely safe are Kreider, Nash, Lundqvist, McDonagh and perhaps John Moore (based on potential). Everyone else I could see maybe not being here. Those five mentioned above fit into AV's style.

I think it happens, regardless of how the rest of the season goes.

and MZA

There is no way AV will be fired. Sather would not admit the hiring was a mistake. We have AV, and Sather needs to make a trade or do something to get him the players he needs.

Oh I don't think he'll fire AV, but it's ballsy for AV to be crying about personnel and his system instead of making adjustments. Rangers have been lost all year defensively. The opportunities they give up are ludicrous.

lol I guess slats didn't brief AV on not talking out of turn when he get to the rangers.

Cigaro will give AV a few more washed up re-treads and call it a year.

Brand new coach and HE should be making adjustments? Alright.

That's Slats thinking right there "my players can win the cup they just need a super offensive coach that will make them score yeah that's it"

If he was a 3 year vet of this team I'd agree to a degree.

AV isn't at fault. The guy knows his ****. This team ****ing sucks. Its the personnel, not the coach.

Torts adjusted the system to the talent he had, AV came in and tried changing the system with the current talent, and its exposing the lack of offensive talent.

Major shakeup needs to happen.

Well, that's a big problem if AV can't adjust his coaching to the talent. That was something Torts was actually pretty damn good with.

Of course he does - he has to play the hand that's dealt. Clearly his plan isn't working with this group and he said as much tonight. Trades are really difficult in the salary cap era.

Well, the silver lining is that if the Rangers finally do decide to really, really suck, the top end of the next couple of drafts looks great. This is a good time to suck, which believe it or not is a key factor.

They just failed to score more than 1 goal on two completely unproven goalies. Whether or not he says it, it's a fact, and it's obvious. Having said that, I'm glad he put it out there.

It was always a fact, but no official person ever called Sather like that. This should be interesting.

I'd be excited if I didn't already know that Cigar ****er will trade for some vet that will squeak us into the last wild card spot and get us a 16th overall :shakehead.

I don't think it will happen this year...I hope. If that actually happens that's the point where these boards would need to start funding for a hitman.

I like that AV is putting it out there that the team hes been given sucks. Maybe it will actually force the powers that be to do something about it. The coach has a vision and he needs the horses to run his system. If we just get coaches who always adjust to the **** slats feeds them we will be the same team we have been for years. Mediocre.

Of course he has to play with the hand he's dealt, but what's with the expectation that he should just change his coaching style, literally a few months after being hired? That's such backwards ******** logic from Sather's stupid mouth seeping it's way into the minds of others.

If you want a system change, bring in a coach who knows it, and you get him players that can play it.

And that was the goal here. To play a new system to win games. The fact that AV should just change his entire style to suit this ****ing team is laughable.

The Torts scenario was just as big a joke.

The problem with AV, and one of the things I didn't like about the hiring, is that when he came in Sather expressly stated that part of the reason was to change the system. Remember those quotes from Sather at Banff about "this is how the NHL is now" (talking about puck possession teams) and Maloney saying at the beginning of the season that the front office was getting bored of the "Torts style" hockey? So, really even if AV wanted to go to a defensive system is that really the smart move in his position when you know you were brought in, at least in part, to move away from that style? I think AV gets a pass and we see a major shakeup at both the deadline and the end of the season.

Sather will chalk the problems up to being misled by Torts, to Torts making him stack the team with unskilled players and will do his best to give AV the personnel he wants.

Well, that's a big problem if AV can't adjust his coaching to the talent. That was something Torts was actually pretty damn good with.

Of course he could do it. But that is not the style he wants to play, and to be honest it isn't the style that WINS in this league anymore.

Offensive powered teams win the cup.

Torts did it but why should AV? We will see the same crap we saw the last 4-5 years. I think its time to move some guys and change the drafting plan. Bring in some skill and grit and stop this half assed stuff. I wanna see AV's systek with the right players.

Oh by the way, Tortorella's daughter just chimed in on Twitter...

@BrittanyKellen: NYR and MSG ... You got want you want right? Hopefully you find some identity.

Wow...haha
