Torts did it but why should AV? We will see the same crap we saw the last 4-5 years. I think its time to move some guys and change the drafting plan. Bring in some skill and grit and stop this half assed stuff. I wanna see AV's systek with the right players.

Exactly this.

Torts NEVER SHOULD'VE HAD TO DO IT. And AV shouldn't either.

It's not that they can't, every coach can make adjustements. But the fact that they have to because they weren't given the proper players for how they want a play is a god damn redundant old ****ing JOKE.

Of course he could do it. But that is not the style he wants to play, and to be honest it isn't the style that WINS in this league anymore.

Offensive powered teams win the cup.

How many Cups has AV won again?

Seriously, though, he can't ***** about personnel at this point because he knows that trades this time of year are near impossible - particularly this year with the lower cap. His style and this group aren't working. I can't believe how many times we've been outnumbered down low this year.

Coaches aren't experts on every style of play. They have a system they've developed through personal experience and preferences. If a GM hires a coach, it's his duty to give him the personnel he needs to execute his system. If you're not building toward the coach's strengths, then why are you hiring him in the first place. It would be like an NFL GM hiring a great 3-4 defensive coordinator and telling him to run a 4-3 because the personnel is just better for it right now.

Nashville set the sport back 50 years tonight.

The officials let them get away with pre-lockout tactics that would make Jacques Lemaire happier than Sidney Crosby in a San Francisco bathhouse.

That said, the Rangers played like they had to catch the 10:15 to Yonkers or something. No effort, from ANYBODY, including the all-world average goaltender.

Complaining about the refs and calling Crosby gay in one post reeks of class and shows a distinct lack of smarts. Reminds me of some of the brightest that used to sit near me at the games.

And teams that are asked to play a style that doesn't suit them are losers

Nashville played a style that suited them tonight, that much is certain.

AV said we have to play more defense-oriented hockey. Only a matter of time before that was going to happen.

Sather is such a moron for thinking that a coach can "unleash" the offense on this poorly-constructed roster and that Torts was the one holding back all their hidden talent.

99% of this board bought in as well.

Floodgates should open annnnnny day now. Who needs effort?

Sather has it all backwards - he wants the coach to turn **** into gold.

And if anyone actually thinks that Sather is capable of finding the offensive talent that AV wants, I've got a bridge to sell you. That's been Sather's biggest problem since he's been GM. The Rangers have ranked top 10 in scoring only once in his tenure and that was pre-lockout. The man is clueless when it comes to building an offense.

Thanks. Asking AV to switch to a defensive system is just doing the same thing that we are trying to get away from. If Sather wanted to go that route then he should have kept Torts. Not sure why they are playing so emotionless tho.

Trades must be in the making, here goes curiosity train

Who can we trade?

We can't trade MDZ because Staal is out for who knows how long.

We can't trade Callahan because he is injured.

Won't trade Nash, Stepan, Kreider

Can't trade Richards.

Girardi ? Again, Staal is out so can we afford trading D?

If the core can ***** and moan to Glen about Torts, and it actually results in getting him fired, I'd be pretty damn comfortable too.

They're so comfortable right now they don't have a care in the world. Just having fun.

That's what they wanted, it's what they got, and now we're living with it.

AV can't switch to Torts kind of system, even if he wants to. He is not as tough as Torts.

I keep remembering what Callahan said, "now we can all have fun". Never knew how much of a sissy he was. They must ***** and moan when they have a game. And i bet the logo is on the floor again too

Normally when the Rangers play on the same night as a Jets home game, I watch the Rangers when I get home from the Jets game and try like crazy not to see or hear the score. Today I didn't give a **** and when they showed the other games scores on the scoreboard, I asked my friend if it was even worth watching. Because of that, I didn't have to bother with watching yet another loss. Maybe I'll start doing that more often, asking someone to look at the score and tell me if it's worth watching or if I'd be wasting my time like normal. :p:

Well, not only does there need to be a major shakeup on the team; the players that are retained are going to have to take some serious time adjusting their hockey instincts and tendencies. This system is going to take a while to implement. This year is a right off imo. Hopefully we can see some of our kids get brought up and the deadweight getting casted off from the team.

Even though Sather's incompetence of creating a roster for AV is getting exposed; Ranger management is very correct in wanting to build an uptempo puck possession team.
