If Willie becomes a better player than Marner and/or AM while being a Leafs, isn’t that a good thing?
Not saying Willie is better than them now.

If I had to trade one, I would trade Marner over Nylander. Dude has reached another level... lets see what Marner brings this season before I truly judge, he was a scrub in the post season!

You mean post season? Not sure how he could be a scrub in the off-season

That was a very important game to win IMHO. I know it's pre-season, but a loss would have added more fuel to the anger.

Good win and a better P.R. move.

Hollowell has been better to me. Kral is fine, but Hollowell has been doing a lot of good plays at both ends.
I came to this thread to see who mentioned Hollowell. He played the left side as a right Handed D man and had a great game. He was impressive on coverage boxed out well and made many great reads. Real liked his game. He is a gamer.

Feels good man.

A lot of positives.

Nylander, Muzz, Brodie, JT all look sharp.

Goaltending was steady.

Bunting looks like a player out there. Doing a lot of good things.

Ho-Sang started ok. Late in the game he became a bonehead.
So did Kerfoot. He had an embarrassing game.
Mikheyev was the usual no scoring touch but good defensively.

Robertson, *Sandin, and Liljegren looked ok.
Just ok.

Gabriel needs to work on his fitness.

Nice shootout goal, though.:)

Marner sucked in the post season lol.. yes, that is what I meant lmfao

yeah he wasn’t very good and I’d be hesitant to trade either guy.. what if Marner, Nylander and Matthews have an outstanding playoffs but we still lose in the first round. Then what? Are we still gonna blame them?

I think trading a top player away doesn’t mean they suck, what if the returning package is someone like Vas?
All trades depend on the returning package.

One preseason game.

Leafs young defenders looked okay, their young forwards didn't stand out at all.

Have to give them time to see if any of them really want it.

Offense came from their 2 core players.

I missed the game - box score says Matthews played, but I assume that’s a mistake? No way his wrist is exhibition ready already … right?

Gabriel legit cannot skate at a NHL level, might be some pre season rust but come time when teams are actually icing a NHL roster, he will be a liability out there.

Thought Robertson/Ho-sang/Lilly/Sandin showed well when it comes to fighting for a roster spot. Ho-sang tried getting a bit to cute as the game went along.

Bunting/Willy/JT/Muzzin /Brodie looked good, hoping Bunting can continue to impress. Kerfoot and Soup were meh.

the problem is unless it’s a 1v1 straight up, you are losing the deal. Which is why it’s never going to happen under Dubas. I don’t agree with Dubas on a lot of things but I do with this. You ride Nylander, Matthews & Marner till kingdom come. The salary cap will go up

he did not play in this one, but he is ahead of schedule in his recovery and might get a preseason game or two in later
