Ehlers looked like shit again tonight. Even on that OT goal I was screaming SKATE and he just seemed to glide

I think our top line got its act together and controlled a lot of that game when it mattered.

I don't like Mo's personal decisions. He is going to gas some of our players halfway through this season
He doesn't have much to work with, especially when they are behind (and without Laine). Perreault is a shadow of himself. Harkins and Lewis skate and work, but don't provide any offense. Copp and Lowry are mainly defense. Actually, this team could use a fast, skilled player like Roslovic for times like now.

Well I mostly agree one shouldn’t go around being a clown on here, I think it’s pretty unfair to criticize people for being vocal about their displeasure with the team. Many of us pour a lot of our money and time into this team, so it’s frustrating when things don’t go well. People should be allowed to be negative.

I’m a Jets fan and I’m glad we got the win today but that was one of the worst performances I’ve seen by the team in a while (along with last night’s game, but I actually thought we were worse tonight).

It’s a close second to the two home games against the caps that broke our season early in our new history. But we got out of it with a win if we play like we did in the last 7 minutes for the entire game Thursday I will feel more optimistic

Still really early in the season, and lots of teams are playing like crap right now. Gonna take until the 20 game mark (or so) to see where we truly stand compared to other teams in the North.

With this in mind, it is funny seeing people already panicking and coming to conclusions about this team (especially for certain players). Ya'll need to start being a little more patient with your harsh criticisms, lol!

You chose this guy because he took a slapper off the forehead?

No, although he does have a five-head for sure :P but Gilbert was a Victorian humorist, most famous for his comic operas (Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, etc.) with Sullivan. Ultimately I chose him because he had a serious dislike for Shakespeare and it seemed a perfect foil for Kanadalainen's choice of bards.

Time to also insert Ves into the lineup for some speed and skill.

Unreal...glad Jets pulled off the win, but play against a more skilled team like that, and they'll get nothing (see previous game versus Leafs).
Also, as an American, I don't mind the snarky Trump comments - they're rightly deserved. (And kinda funny)

My post was aimed at those that don't have a lot of positive things to say about their hockey team.
I think it's worth calling out when you consider the cesspool our GDT's turn into when we're only 3 games into the season.
Hockey discussion and banter is disappearing from this board and that's partly due to this infection.

I think it's worth calling out and if you feel it was a little over the top, join the club - there's a lot of that going around.
SORRY but this is such BS. Cesspool ? Cmon man. If I, and others, are not happy with the teams play and direction we can voice that opinion.

Very true, its games like these that make me wish we would go with the 3A/3B combination. Our fourth line is useless when we are trailing.

Fans had a legitimate beef when the Jets had bad goalies. Having better goalies than most teams is a good thing. If the Jets could put together even a half-decent D, I think they have the talent up front and in goal to have a puncher's shot at making some noise. I'm expecting DeMelo and Poolman to improve the team at 5v5 and on the PK. I'd like to see Samberg or Heinola on the 3rd pair over Beaulieu.

Morrissey-DeMelo
Forbort-Pionk
Samberg/Heinola-Poolman

would be okay.

If Chevy wants to compete this season, maybe he should sign Roslovic to give the Jets even more talent and depth up front. Otherwise, trade him for a contributing roster player, soon.

Everyone were jabbing at the team when they were playing poorly and are glad they won. What’s the problem?

We are a complex bunch...

The same could easily be said for people who have blind faith and think everything is fine as well. I'm totally fine with the criticism and I'm totally fine with people who have blind faith. I think most of us are open to criticism and love discussion actually.

On a side note, if people don't like it - just ignore us. Then you don't have to see our posts.

Whether or not one ignores or not, the fact remains that actively cheering for the team's failure belongs in the Tank Thread, not the GDT threads. You don't go that far, I don't think, but let's not kid ourselves that it hasn't been a problem before and won't continue to be a problem this year.

And if someone says the game is over, and the team comes back to win, they should take their Grinning Chevy roast in stride :P

For someone who is supposed to be a good puck mover Niku kills so many plays with his breakouts. He's likely getting one more game with Morrissey before DeMelo gets back so he is going to have to show something to stay in the lineup.
what?!?!?!
you don't like him skating into an opposing player at his own blue line?

That game was a horror show. The Jets looked awful. Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler were the only line that looked threatening and even they were just OK. Lucky to get 2 points there, Ottawa deserved a win in regulation. Morrissey-Niku pairing is a tire fire. That first shift must have been deflating for the entire team.

On the positive side atleast the PP looks good. Hopefully when Laine comes back they keep Wheeler at the goal line, it opens a few new looks for the team.

I've actually liked a lot of what Stastny has done. He makes a lot of deft plays. His wingers the past couple of games have been pretty awful.
he will always make subtle high iq plays, but not enough if you're a 2c. need to start putting the puck in the net.

He has had slow as molasses Perrault stuck to him and that kills a lot of the play. I also like a lot of what he has down, very subtle in a lot of ways but he is effective at breaking things up and keeping things moving. Perfetti has a lot of similar traits, I am hoping that Stastny is around to mentor him.

Oh don't worry, I get my fair share of shame from my family every time this happens, haha. Of course, that won't change my opinion. I will remain strong!

I meant that what’s the problem with being upset at bad play, as long as one is happy when the team is winning, in case that didn’t come through.

That picture is an exact replica of the thoughts of an ex colleague of mine who went to art school!

This is our 3rd "exhibition" game and we were without 2/3 of our starting RHD and Laine and we won the 2nd game of a b2b...quit bitching already.
LB wins the confidence of Maurice and he won't hesitate to play him again.
Stanley isn't giving Maurice any reason to sit him and is outplaying Niku.
If Laine is back next game and Heinola or Slamberg plays for Niku, I see another W for the Jets.
