The Sandin trade really doesn't look that good anymore without the assets being flipped. I was really expecting something else to happen there.
Maybe he was trying to make a deal with someone that just didn't happen but I'm very surprised he held on to those 2.
Someone here joked Nick Ritchie to Calgary as their all in move.. well it happened lol
Hopefully the increased cap next year will make things better.Salary cap made it impossible for many teams.
Why would anyone trade for JVR at a $7M cap hit? Even if PHI retained 50%, it's still a $3.5M cap hit. And I doubt that anyone wanted to pay another 4th or 5th round pick to reduce it further.. So, it doesn't seeem strange to me at all.Flyers hold onto JVR
Ducks hang onto Klingberg
LOL
Anyone got a clipBruce Boudreau yelling at TSN staff was the nost exciting thing today.
Lafferty is an upgrade over Engvall in the playoffs. Maybe not in the regular season.I dunno if the team is better. You can only have six dmen at a time on and we now have 10. The most we needed was 8.
ROR, Acciari is an upgrade but Lafferty as the Engvall replacement is a lateral move.

Second line was doing just fine without him. The 3rd however needs the most work, hence that's where he should be.My one concern is that our third line still sucks. I like ROR in the top 6

Most interesting move of the dayRitchie brothers traded for each other (cgy/Ari)
I look at Acciari as Engvall replacement and Lafferty as Simmonds/Holmberg/Anderson/ whoever play on the 12th spot replacement.I dunno if the team is better. You can only have six dmen at a time on and we now have 10. The most we needed was 8.

How do we know that? He's played less than 8 minutes in the playoffsLafferty is an upgrade over Engvall in the playoffs. Maybe not in the regular season.
I do but that's because I thought Sandin was developing well and was on track to be a good top 4 D. Also only 22 years old, we were lucky to even get him where we did in the draft because if you look at almost everyone drafted around him they're pretty much all busts. In a vacuum do you think Sandin is more valuable than a late 1st rounder? I don't think he's done anything to justify he's worth any more. So they basically got equivalent value when the opportunity presented itself.
