The Sandin trade really doesn't look that good anymore without the assets being flipped. I was really expecting something else to happen there.

Maybe he was trying to make a deal with someone that just didn't happen but I'm very surprised he held on to those 2.

Sandin wasn't going to play so instead of letting an asset lose all it's value, we gained it now. Not only was he not going to play if the health of everyone was good and it's clear he did not want to sit.

They tried to flip the 1st but it's likely nothing came out of it.

Flyers hold onto JVR
Ducks hang onto Klingberg

LOL
Why would anyone trade for JVR at a $7M cap hit? Even if PHI retained 50%, it's still a $3.5M cap hit. And I doubt that anyone wanted to pay another 4th or 5th round pick to reduce it further.. So, it doesn't seeem strange to me at all.

Apparently Klingberg was traded to Minnesota at 2:58 pm.

I dunno if the team is better. You can only have six dmen at a time on and we now have 10. The most we needed was 8.

ROR, Acciari is an upgrade but Lafferty as the Engvall replacement is a lateral move.
Lafferty is an upgrade over Engvall in the playoffs. Maybe not in the regular season.

So how many days before they announce Holl is getting a multi-year extension here so we can watch him fail into his late 30's?

I think it's weird that adding north of 6 new players at the deadline which is already unprecedented, would seem like the norm/expectation here.

You can't just go

xxx-Matthews--Marner
xxx-Tavares-Nylander
xxx-xxxx-xxx
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

Ok doobler now fill in/swap out the rest all at once to appease my wishes and fantasies!

It just does not work that way.

Now they're just thumbing noses at everyone

I look at Acciari as Engvall replacement and Lafferty as Simmonds/Holmberg/Anderson/ whoever play on the 12th spot replacement.
Then there is ROR who just bumped every forward down beside the big four

In a vacuum do you think Sandin is more valuable than a late 1st rounder? I don't think he's done anything to justify he's worth any more. So they basically got equivalent value when the opportunity presented itself.
I do but that's because I thought Sandin was developing well and was on track to be a good top 4 D. Also only 22 years old, we were lucky to even get him where we did in the draft because if you look at almost everyone drafted around him they're pretty much all busts.

It's also a strange trade to make as a team trying to go all in, you usually move young pieces like that for an established player, not futures. What if he could've been packaged with picks for something more? It's just confusing to me.

And Gus has no place on this team.
