The value is poor especially now that Gus isn't getting flipped. Just cause Sandin is being a baby doesn't mean you just trade him for the first package you get. Can you go a few minutes without fluffing everything KD does lol? And this is coming from someone who generally likes Kyle.

Massive letdown today. We have 10 dmen for the playoffs and didn't upgrade the bottom 6 at all with that surplus of assets.

Knies cannot have been Plan A for this team. He's a college player and while I'm high on him as a prospect I don't expect him to just be slotted into an NHL lineup right away.

The Sandin trade really doesn't look that good anymore without the assets being flipped. I was really expecting something else to happen there.

Maybe he was trying to make a deal with someone that just didn't happen but I'm very surprised he held on to those 2.

surprised we didn't have any activity today. Really felt like we were going to flip that 1st rounder for some help in the top 6. That said, you don't just willy nilly trade a 1st unless the value is there. It may be a late 1st rounder, but it is still a 1st round selection. My guess is we will trade down and multiply that 1st into multiple selections at the draft table. It will ease some of the pain of losing the draft capital that we did.

Overall, it's hard not to give Kyle an A on this deadline. This is the most playoff ready roster we have seen in his tenure. Unfortunately we have our work cut out for us going forward. The east will be a slugfest.

Anaheim literally signed Klingberg to a 1 year deal with the intention of selling him at the deadline. In the offseason, they already knew they weren't a playoff team.

Sandin lost his job and was going to be pressboxed for the next 1.5 seasons, plus had already asked for a trade before the season.

How can he do more than Gustafsson when neither will be playing?

In a vacuum do you think Sandin is more valuable than a late 1st rounder? I don't think he's done anything to justify he's worth any more. So they basically got equivalent value when the opportunity presented itself.

I dunno if the team is better. You can only have six dmen at a time on and we now have 10. The most we needed was 8.

ROR, Acciari is an upgrade but Lafferty as the Engvall replacement is a lateral move.

Wish we moved guys like Kerfoot, Holl and even Gustafsson for picks and tried to use some of those picks to land a better top 6 winger. But in the end no one was moved that fits the need so cant get upset.

Great deadline overall. Hopefully it produces results.
