Seriously attendance aren't that bad considering the price it costs to assist a game. It looks empty because the bell center is a 22k arena.

and....?

I'm talking about greed and criminals (Eagleson & Co.) who spearheaded Hockey Canada for over two decades. You are talking about something completely irrelevant.

I was talking about the people you were calling for in order to step in and fix the corruption...

I think part of it was that Canada was spoiled by a historic run of games in the middle 2000's. There was so many epic games that support for the tournament just seem to build every year. The games just haven't been that exciting recently TBH.

“We attempted to adjust our ticket price, specifically in Montreal, maybe more so than (in Toronto),†newly appointed Hockey Canada president and COO Scott Smith told reporters last week.

“There are some other games quite frankly that we had hoped to have a larger audience at.â€

They have lowered the prices of the upper bowl in the past 24 hours

The USA/Russia game is now at a price point that I might be willing to make the 5 hour drive from Boston.....however Vermont is being hammered by a major snowstorm which gives me pause. Looks like the storm is hitting Montreal as well.

Still it is bogus that the 2 semi final games are priced differently.

Also people who bought the tickets at the higher price must be livid today.

I'd say 5000 for Russia-USA and 10 000 for Canada-Sweden the actual crowd at the games tomorrow. If people are really interested and are in Montreal go walk in front of the Bell Centre tomorrow just before puck drop and you'll get free tickets.

The first game is at 3PM... Most people work you know..

Yeah I don't see how those prices are attractive for a game that doesn't involve the host country and is in the middle of the day. As a comparable, secondary market tickets is the $67.50 area (200 level) are going for as low $15 USD including fees on the secondary market. Tickets in the $100 (red) area are going for around $30.

I would say the $50-60 upper level tickets for the Canada semi is a very fair price, and would hope those sell. I don't see how it is bogus that the games are priced differently - it makes total sense to have dynamic pricing based on the teams that are playing.

but but I was told Montreal and Toronto were the hockey meccas?? what the heck?

time to put to bed that notion...

I'm hearing a ton of excuses but the prices were crazy in Edmonton back in 2011, but even the smallest game had over 13,000 people show up

pretty embarrassing for a city the size of Montreal and they can't even fill a Team Canada game

But, were the tickets sold at those crazy prices or were they listed on the official site at crazy prices, and then available on stubhub for 1/2, 1/4 or even less? I checked stubhub at about 7:15pm for last night's Canada game. Could have had center-ice lower level for $20 US plus fees. Unfortunately, I live 5 1/2-6 hours from Montreal, so no way would I buy, print, drive and make it in 45 minutes.

I have just bought a ticket for tomorrow in the 200 level (Desjardin club) for $20.50 from Stubhub. Normally these seats give free food and drink when the Habs play, wonder if I will get the same tomorrow

EDIT - This is for the USA v Russia game.

There will be more than 10K for a semi-final game in Canada, even in Montreal. Should be at least 15K.

I could have got a ticket last night for the Canada v Sweden game for around $45 in the same seat but I did not want to tempt fate as Canada were still playing the Czechs and knowing my luck they would have gone on to lose the game  If I can find a ticket for around the same price ($45) as I saw yesterday then I will buy it.

Replace Team Canada with any organization in the nhl or professional sport.

When will the time come when people say, wait, why are we forking over this much to watch this type of product?

It's an interesting study.

When will this infatuation with professional sport end with society and people just fed up with increasing prices.

Look at Football leagues in Europe and some of their methods with ticket prices that work, even the English Premier League has a fan's union at least. Nothing like that here.

Shut your mouth, pay the money and watch the nhl, who's product experience is hundreds of times worse then the world juniors, because that's what is suppose to be satisfaction?

Right.
So, you are saying it is the NHL's fault that this tourney has been poorly attended?

I pity next year's organizers in Buffalo trying to sell to the Southern Ontario market + an outdoor 70,000 seat venue to sell out.

good luck with that.

I still don't get how that outdoor game works. If the US/Canada are in different groups (considering they're both betting line favourites for tomorrow it is a greater chance than not), then who plays? The host with minimal local interest? Canada since fans travel (and if they win and US/Russia come in 2nd/3rd they play Sweden)? Do they just straight up screw with the integrity of the tournament and ensure that US/Canada are in the same group?

Why? If the tickets are cheaper, and reasonable, why wouldn't the Southern Ontario market go? They are still going to be mad about this year's pricing?

Hmm checked it out

So they are putting Canada/US in the same group which is just confirmation that everyone has sold out for the $$, but whatever.

$30 US per game for any upper bowl seat for 22 games (which I assume includes all the medal round) and the outdoor game is...definitely better than what was offered here.

That is not bad. Wondering what the prices for the Outdoor game would be on its own.

No, free food and drink in the Desjardins section is only for Habs games.

Cheapest way to get in tomorrow is to buy a ticket for the USA game (6$ on StubHub) and stay in the building for the Canada game. There will be plenty of empty seats to chose from for the Canada game.

That's what I did when the tournament was in Ottawa. Paid cheap to go see the early game and went up to the standing room for the Canada games. Saw both semis, bronze and gold medal games for a total of 25$.

I live in Toronto, but it's the holiday season. I've been away visiting family in Canada and the US since the 23rd, so even if I could have afforded the ridiculously priced tickets, I really wasn't around to watch the games.

I doubt Hockey Canada even considers it for a second, but I think creating more hype for this tournament would be easier if it were held in Europe for a couple of years after 2019. I know they're planning for the Czech Republic in 2020, but they're returning to Canada in 2021, my guess to Calgary/Edmonton.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Or indifferent...
