once again clearly proving that you have no clue whatsoever as to my actual posting history.

Dubas got caught with his pants down, and yes while cap space is an asset, having it and no goaltender is also not good. I mean, we got really lucky Samsonov ended up available. There was seemingly little else out there and yeah Murray was far from a lock to play a lot this year.
anyone that knows you knows your a subtle but massive Dubie homer , i have no idea why you keep trying to act like some ubiased poster . lol

so i'm guessing that your now agreeing with me that the Murray trade was bad asset mgmt

No, he didn’t. From return from Christmas to his last game before injury, Dec 27th - Jan 17th

27 - Sammy (.882)
29 - Murray (.810)
31 - Murray (.929)
03 - Sammy (.844)
05 - Murray (.808)
07 - Sammy (.957)
08 - Murray (.944)
11 - Murray (.970)
12 - Sammy (.864)
14 - Murray (.882)
17 - Murray/Sammy (.500/1.000)

This shows two inconsistent goaltenders splitting the games, with a slight skew towards Murray playing over Samsonov
why did you stop there ? that doesn't show whether he lost the net or not

why don't you show the next few games

Wow that trade for McCabe and Laff....

I haven't like all the things Dubas has done. But he has to be the best Leafs GM in my 30 years of watching hockey (hard to compare pre salary cap era).

With mortgaging their draft picks for the forseeable future Dubas is putting it all on the players: He's gone out and given them two impact players and two valuable depth pieces they badly needed.

As much as I've been on Dubas for his stubborn refusal to accept that this group can't win, he's making a statement this season and if they fail again, yes he'll likely be out the door, but he shouldn't be the only one. This is on everyone. From the coach to every player on this roster.

Really? Because Murray last played Jan 17th
Murray had 2 bad starts in a row and then the team went with Sammy who went on a bit of a roll , hence why we said Murray lost the net and obviously why you won't post what happen after the 17th .

now be the unbiased person you like to portray and show the starts after the 17th

Dubas is the best GM we've had in the 20 years that I've been paying attention. He makes mistakes, plenty of them, but he learns and doesn't double down to try and cover it up. He drafts well and dumpster dives with the best of them. The Achilles Heel is goaltending and loyalty to the big4.

I blame the players for our lack of success far more than the GM. Every year we're looking like a wagon, saying "this is the year", but it's been the players who have let us down. If Marner had played even remotely well in either of the CBJ or MTL series, we'd have won those handily. The GM can always do more, but hockey is a game played on the ice and firing the guy in the suit because one of his best players lost his nerve is not a good choice.

Regardless of how one feels about Dubas, the way to read today's trade is it's more than likely well be seeing Dubas get an extension this summer. Shanahan/the board isn't going to give the GM the ability to move futures like this if there's even a fair chance of them not being here.

After this deal, the extend option will go up and the people who voted to let him walk will change their vote lol
why would anyone change there vote ? it's now cup or bust for Dubas and Shanny

these are the picks we have in the first 4 rds the next 3 seasons as of now

23 - 3rd
24 - 1st , 4th
25 - 3rd

Who puts those players in place though? The group of nonchalant players who can't step up when it matters. That's my problem with Dubas. Up until the ROR trade (and maybe Muzzin) he's never really brought in a true killer. It's still largely a group of losers until they prove otherwise. No amount of regular season success changes that

I would have extended him in the summer. Now works too. This is the best Leaf team that has been assembled in my lifetime. If they still fail it isn't on him at this point lol I am sure he will still be rode out of town regardless if it goes bad though.

I'd trade the players at this point if they can't get it done. Dubas has given them everything they can ask for after this trade.

This team is as deep as any other team in the league and has some of the best top-end talents too.

Many Leafs fans that were complaining that Dubas wasn't doing enough to address the needs of this team and that he needed to go 'all in', well here you go. O'Reilly, Acciari and now McCabe and Lafferty all for a reasonable cost that didn't send any of our best prospects going the other way. Its now up to the coach to get these guys playing as a team and for the players to perform on the ice.

To me I think this shows that whether or not the Leafs have playoff success this year, Dubas NEEDS to be re-signed and stay on as GM because I don't know how much more you want him to do to improve this team. He's done as about as much as he can to put this team in a position to do well and its time for the players to show up and get the job done.

Where have I heard this before? Oh yea, every year for the past 4ish seasons
Connor Timmins is our 8th or 9th defensemen. What I said is just straight up a fact. That doesn't mean things are going to go right for us...but this is the single deepest and most talented Leaf team in my life. I do not see an argument otherwise.
