Do you think they will remake old gen 1-3 games with the open world concept?

I’d pay a lot of money for open world remakes of Gold/Silver in the style of Scarlet/Violet. Not interested in the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl formats..but I feel that’s way more likely for “remakes” to be honest. Hope I’m wrong.

I’m in the same boat as you. Open world remake of Gold/Silver would be amazing.

I never played the new remakes of gold silver but did they keep collecting 16 badges in it?

Oh man. That's rough. Masuda honestly might be your better choice then. And yeah without sounds and a visual cue, there's some pokemon where they're so small or the color variant is so indistinguishable that I don't even bother checking. It wouldn't surprise me if the game somehow told me I've already run past 8-10 shinies. I do masuda hunts here and there but it's a huge test on my adhd brain. Getting the shiny is admittedly more exciting but when I'm running around and then I have to wait for each egg animation to mostly be disappointed, it's hard to suppress the pull I have to more exciting gameplay with a different game.
Even the sound cue in Legends it could be difficult for me to spot some of the shinies I came across. The trailing sparkles in the Lets Go games were awesome though.

But yeah, generally I like masuda for my shiny hunts. I like to have them be as close to perfect as possible. Anything that ends up needing to be hyper trained or changed is a blight, but definitely much better than not being able to fix them at all. I regret now my deletion of my shiny Charmander in gen 6 because it had the wrong ability and a 0 special attack IV.

Yeah I get you. I had that happen too where I'd be flying around, hear the sound and wonder "where the f*** is it though?" and other times I'd just happen upon a shiny without the audio cue.

And I definitely see the benefits but the way I see it, the amount of time I have to spend in raids to get bottle caps, mints, ability caps, etc. is about the same amount of time if not less than it would take to hatch the right egg. I definitely see the value of perfection or near perfection coming right out of the box, but it's a real test on my patience. That said though, I love shiny Charizard so I'm definitely going to masuda one after I clear the 7* raid.

Yes. Heartgold and Soulsilver are, in my mind, the premier example of how to remake these games and are, in my view, the best Pokemon games to date. If you can find a way to play them I'd highly recommend it.

That'd be awesome. But I wouldn't hold my breath on them going back to Gen 2 so soon. I imagine if we get an open world remake it would be Gen 5 and Unova. Which I'd welcome. It was my least favorite Gen for new pokemon designs and I hated the way Unova looked on the DS. I appreciate that they tried to push the DS to its limits but it looked pretty awful. But the story and gameplay loop were admittedly pretty good.

Is there a way to get it? Are there emulators or do I have to buy a DS? Gold and Silver are my favorite games so would love a remake to play them again.

I mean I don't want to recommend emulation. But at some point it's kind of the only way to play old games. I was surprised to see that used 3ds' are going over market price for the handheld. So the most legal way is to buy used.

I own the games but don't have a platform to play them so I *technically* don't believe it is illegal to use an emulator.

I've also played a number of the HG and SS mods which are extremely fun. There are a number of mods for the original Gold/Silver/Crystal as well.

You know you can buy mints, caps, at deli it’s gifts right?

Would have to run on PC only

It'll never happen for a multitude of reasons. But I can dream.

A Pokemon MMO would rake in billions.

I'd never trust GameFreak and co. to pull off anything like that properly though.

Anyone have Scarlet and want to swap exclusives?
Bumping this because trying to do this through link trades is a pain. Also willing to just trade and then trade back for the dex rntry

Update: after 2 and a half hours I found a very nice person that needed everything I had.

Do you get better rewards for soloing a 6 star raid? Just got 2 herba mystica and an ability patch from 1 raid.

Yeah getting it done properly is key. GameFreak has barely figured out co-op in an open world game but they still struggle with post game content.

Tbh I've never tried soloing a 6 star. That'd be cool if that's how it worked.

It's not so hard with a level 100 since you don't lose time when the bots Pokemon get fainted. So you just need something bulky/ resistant that does decent damage against what you're up against.

Oh. I never even paid attention to that.

Lol then Iron Hands should be good against mostly everything.

Dusted off the ‘ol 3DS and booted up Pokemon X for the first time in years. I was still in the friend safari, and no joke..3 Pokemon in I get a shiny Charmeleon.

I’ve seen a few people saying that Iron Hands is one of the better raid Pokémon. The one that I’ve found to work real well is Ceruledge with its signature move restoring HP.

I built one. Rarely have an issue with it. In a team that knows what they're doing and do proper cheer/screech set up on turn 1 and 2 you can have a maxed Hands one shot a 6* raid boss. I'd imagine that Charizard won't be that easy but Hands can also self sustain with drain punch. Haven't tried a Ceruledge build yet but I only evolved mine last night for the dex.

Now that I've said that it isn't so hard, I've got a 6 star grass gooey Goodra raid that feels undefeatable without careful prep. And if I try to bring in random people, they bring fire types that get destroyed because the Goodra has surf. I'll have to put together a good Iron Hands or Gholdengo I think.

Yeah that's what I figured. I haven't unlocked 6 star raids. Guess I've been hosted enough of them. Or I haven't done the post game gyms

Yeah, you have to do the post game gyms and then do a few raids to unlock them. Didn't take me long.

Yeah it’s the post game gyms and then one of the stupid tournaments that I was pushing off and ended up going with 3 level 100s.

I just wanted to make sure I got it unlocked before these Charizard raids. I don’t want to go through the whole process of trying to join one only to not make it in time.
