Yeah, you have to do the post game gyms and then do a few raids to unlock them. Didn't take me long.
Yeah it’s the post game gyms and then one of the stupid tournaments that I was pushing off and ended up going with 3 level 100s.

I just wanted to make sure I got it unlocked before these Charizard raids. I don’t want to go through the whole process of trying to join one only to not make it in time.
Annoying but whatever. Been spending too much time setting myself up for shiny hunts.

Can't complain though. My biggest target, Roaring Moon, I reset the sandwich boost like 8 times pre shiny charm and couldn't get a single shiny of any species. So about 4 hours wasted. After shiny charm I used a sandwich twice. First phase got a gible and Zweilous. Second phase, or the tenth total finally got the Salamence. Then caught a Magikarp like 15 min later trying to do a Finizen mass outbreak shiny hunt.

I'm torn. While I appreciate that I can shiny hunt and succeed and still live my life, I already have like 13 shinies. It does make them a little less special even on a personal level. Felt the same way in PLA to be honest other than shiny targets that I just struggled to find. Idk maybe the true value in shiny hunting this Gen is finding one with a good mark. Which none of my shinies have.

Yeah im still working on the shiny charm and then heading to the Iron Valiant hunt. I’ve only found a Toxtricity and Qwilfish shiny so far. I think I’m around 350-360 entries so far.

I think it's fun. I don't think shiny Pokemon have to be super rare, as long as the hunt is still enjoyable. It's worse in Pokemon Go where shiny Pokemon are basically just given to you. That has actually stop being fun for me.

I wonder if shiny charm and sandwich boosts apply to co-op play. If so I could always join you and boost your odds. I kinda want to shiny hunt two copies of every Scarlet paradox pokemon to trade them for Violet paradoxes. But if someone let me hunt their game save, that could save some effort lol.

The real honest shiny hunting is in Pogo is raids. It's not out of the question that you could be forced to do 40-50 raids before you find one and at that point to guarantee it you have to pay money for remote raid passes. I'm not gonna lie, Shiny origin form Giratina is one of my favorite shinies so I got back into the game, splurged a bit and actually ended up with a perfect IV "shundo". So that was pretty thrilling but otherwise I agree. I think like with Mark's in this Gen, the real value is finding a competitively viable shiny.

And fair as to your wider point about the mainline series. It's a lot more fun this Gen. Could be a motivator to get replay value going for all my competitive pokemon being shiny.

Alright Tera raids are officially broken now. I now see the issue. I just randomly will do no damage when I hit. The first hit will take out like a third of its health then the second does 0 damage.

It will also just randomly gain health back?

Charizard raids start soon. I was planning on running a support Gardevoir but I can’t really do that without other people who put out damage. Anyone want to hop in on one?

The raid seems glitched if you do it online with randoms, at least. I've had it 4 times now where we're down to about half the time, and the Charizard has no health left, but won't actually die. Then it'll sit there for 10 seconds with nothing happening, and then the Charizard releases its energy. Managed to beat it on my own but either the clock, the Charizards health, or both are just really screwed up online.

Yeah, probably because they didn't update the internal ruleset that they are legal Pokemon.
Lol. That'd be funny. Wondering if it's rather GF trying to make it so only people who did the work to beat the raid can have any iteration of the raid mon.

Anyway I did a little more breeding after a birthday get together. I've only bred one pokemon so far but man the egg production time is so slow. They hatch pretty fast but even with egg power 2 on it was much slower to get eggs than charcadet.

Also pretty cool that a 7 star raid mon is 6IV level 100 out of the box.

Yeah, that's possible.

I actually haven't minded the breeding after originally hating it. Lets me step away for a few minutes and just check in once in awhile to make sure it doesn't hit more than 10,

And yeah, love that you get a perfect Pokemon. And it being part of two egg groups is nice too, makes it easier to go after anything that it can breed with. I'll probably try to breed a Timid one, or if we can catch another during the next event later in the month I'll just use a mint.

RNG is a fickle bitch. I've been picnic refreshing a Rotom mass outbreak for a shiny with the 60 faints odds applied. I've caught two incidental shiny grimers that happen to spawn in the area but no red aura Rotom. Super frustrating.

Started Pokemon GO this past weekend for the first time since the week it was released all those years ago. My son absolutely loves it.

The shiny rates HAVE to be significantly higher..right? 4 days in and just from playing casually, we’ve found shiny Delibird, Weedle, and Mankey.

And hah, my son and I just caught a shiny Shinx in Scarlet out in the wild. Completely random. None of the sandwich stuff, no outbreaks and no shiny charm yet. So the odds of this happening were 1 in 4000.

Holy shit, Skeledirge may be one of my favorite Pokemon designs ever, and certainly one of my favorite fire starters. Was not expecting that at all. That thing is totally badass.

I like it a lot too. It's funny because both Dan and I started with Fuecoco, but he started over because he didn't like Crocalor and went with the water starter instead, which ends up looking terrible as a final evo. I think the grass one is the best this gen though.

Yeah I was actually a little underwhelmed with Crocalor, but after seeing Skeledirge it was totally worth it. I did a random surprise trade towards the beginning of the game and I was happy to get a level 1 Sprigatito, which I really like too, so I’ve had two starters in my party since the beginning. I haven’t gotten a Quaxly yet, and I don’t think I’ve even seen its evolutions yet, but it seems to be the least popular of the three starters.

On another note, I think Charcadet is truly one of my favorite designs ever as well. There’s a few new Pokemon I’m not really a fan of, but as a whole I’d have to say that I’m pretty impressed overall.

Annihilape is FANTASTIC.

Man I cannot stand doing raids with randoms. It feels like 80% of the player base doesn't understand anything about support roles and buff/debuff on turn 1. Everyone just rushes to attack from the start and don't seem to learn anything when their attacks do miniscule damage.
