The general speculation that the themes would be "past" and "future" (or something along those lines) are basically confirmed.

professor sada => pasada => past
professor turo => futuro => future
Mirai (未来 or 未來) is a Japanese given name. It means "future" and is part of the Sino-Japanese vocabulary (its cognates include Mandarin Chinese weilai and Korean mirae).
What does 古来の (Korai no) mean in Japanese? ; 古い noun, adjective ; Furui old, stale, ancient, aged, antiquated.

Someone on reddit also pointed out that "raidon" could be a world play with "ride on", as some reliable riddle leaker insinuated that the legendary pokemon could be ridable. And, when you look closely... It's a f***ing motorcycle wheel on koraidon's chest.

Graphics look just a tad better than PLA (not by much), but the world looks more lively and detailed.

Website confirms we'll be able to play and explore multiplayer, and that exploration won't be limited by the storyline.

Oh man, this got me excited for the game. I really like the look of those new legendaries and a Coop feature is amazing!

Am I the only one who thought this looked like complete crap? This is the highest grossing media franchise of all time, they are perfectly capable of making games with decent graphics and innovative gameplay and yet this looks just as barren as Sword and Shield

First gut reaction to the legendaries "holy f*** those are weird" but I kinda dig them. They're way way better than Zacian and Zamazenta who are easily the least imaginative legendary pair they've released since Latios and Latias

Sonic Frontiers looked good.

....Graphically, anyway.

I'll always maintain that Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of the Switch's best games despite looking like ass.

It looks like it took small steps in getting better. You are right though, these games should be looking much better than they do.

That's my one criticism. The world feels empty.

I went back to rewatch and there are no people in or around these cities or buildings or homes or out in the world. The NPCs featured in the trailer are purely utilitarian. They introduce the two professors in cutscenes. They introduce your rival. They introduce one of those helper NPCs who just stands around to confirm "you can play co-op with your friends!". They introduce a boy who is a trainer battle. And you can see in the background of some of the scenes the Pokestops have NPCs at them. Finally there's shots of you and your co-op buddies running around to show off that there are Pokemon in the overworld. But the Pokemon are spaced out at acceptable distances doing the same handful of animations (usually their movement animation) and it does not look or feel organic.

The anime should be the gold standard. Living worlds and cities. Rural areas with farms occupied by people and Pokemon working.

Maybe these things exist in the game but the trailer gives the impression the world is pretty barebones and utilitarian instead of warm and inviting.

I'll end with what I like - the sense of scale between the character and buildings looks better, co-op is a good feature to have in my opinion and I like the Pokestop and using architecture to make a world feel unique.

The crystal tease at the end though, probably nothing but maybe Let's Go Johto

Pumped to learn a little more. Pokemon Unite has gotten me back in the spirit for new mainline games.

Still unsure how the gimmick will work. I just wish they would stop introducing new gimmicks and bring back megas.

Like that there will be 3 main story lines to follow. Hopefully sidequests like there were in PLA come back too. They were nice.

The tera types thing works well for someone like me that likes to collect, but I'm not sure it is a very interesting mechanic in terms of battling. Overall, can't say I've seen anything so far that gets me super excited. We'll see if I end up getting it, so far I'm leaning towards waiting a bit.

I think we'll still need to wait a little to see how it will affect gameplay.

It's sort of like a nerfed protean combined with adaptability, from my understanding. I have absolutely no idea how this mechanic will even work with Protean/Libero/Other type changing abilities.

We don't know either if you lose STAB on your initial types when you Tera, I believe. Like, if you Tera Gardevoir into a water type (seems to be what was in the trailer), does it change its fairy and psychic types moves to water types? Or is it going to learn some new water type move for it to make sense? And if it's the latter, will it still keep STAB on its fairy and psychic type moves (but when it comes to resistances, it's considered a pure water type?).

Guess we'll have to wait and see. But as of now, I can only see it being useful competitively to change to a type with completely different resistances to bait an opponent - such as changing an electric type to a flying type. It's going to be a bit harder to forgo some resistances and additional STAB provided by some dual types, assuming it completely erases original typing. Like, I could see it being useful on something like Dragonite that rarely uses STAB competitively - but it doesn't because they're weak (wingbeat, outrage is fairy fodder).

Is it worth getting Legends of Arecus? I haven’t played that game yet.
I enjoyed it, but it's probably not worth the full price even to me.

This is exactly what I was thinking while watching. It's a cool mechanic and perhaps it even has a chance to flex the Switch's graphics power, like you said, as far as collecting goes, it has a ton of potential especially if I can catch multiples of the same species that have different Tera types. But as for battling, I'm not sure how it plays into... well, anything. Although I would bet the gym leaders of the region will have Teraoasdhglksajhilizing pokemon.

Yeah, in the Gardevoir situation I was assuming that it was losing the Psychic/Fairy STAB and replacing it with water, which is honestly not all that useful, and in a lot of cases actually detrimental. But if they are adding a third typing to a Pokemon, that would be different. I wonder in that case if it would only be offensive, or also defensive. That could get pretty complex.

@Apex Predator I agree with Zaiden, Legends Arceus is a fun game, but at this point I would just wait for the new generation. It really felt like a demo for a full release/ new gen.

My guess is we're gonna get the same thing as we got with Dynamax. AKA a Gigantamax equivalent for Terastal. Could definitely see some pokémon change forms. Just speculation though.

And the worse is that it seems they're removing several features that were introduced in PLA. :|

EXP screen will be in the battle, and not when back to being able to move your character. Seems the catching mechanics won't be back either (which is one cool thing about PLA that they should have brought back), etc. I wanted them to add more interaction with the environment too. Like, throwing something at a tree to make it shake and cause a pokemon to be curious about it and investigate, or to get scared - basically Assassin's Creed mechanics lol

Yeah, I would have been happy if they kept the same catch mechanics, it was actually pretty fun in Arceus. Pokemon is really bad for having great mechanics in one game and then just dropping them entirely in the next.

I enjoy it but it's one of those games that I play for a bit then take a break, get back to it, take a break, etc.

As someone that hasn't liked a lot of new gimmicks/mechanics, I wish they just continued with mega evolutions.

Yeah I loved Megas. Easily the best mechanic they've introduced, other than maybe weather effects, if you count that.

Shed tail is so incredibly busted.

I hate the fact that I'm pretty hyped for Scarlet and Violet to release. Gamefreak tends to disappoint me but ooh boy, competitive looks like it's gonna be a blast to play this generation.
