If we continue to deploy a lineup set in stone that consists of a top 6, 3rd line that scores like a 4th line, and 4th line that is vaguely an energy line I don't really imagine us improving.

Well, the 3rd and 4th lines just got better. The 2nd OTOH has no C.

Kings fan here in peace. Just to tell you my magic legged opinion of what you are getting

Vilardi- The obvious prize. Health had been a question mark but he's been pretty durable. Still young and a little streaky but he always has a smile on his face, he scores some big goals and he will be the favorite player of many of you very soon.

Iafallo- Glue guy. He will probably have a letter in the near future. On ice he works hard but has hands of stone. But he will work the corners and do the dirty work but will frustrate you.

Kupari- He's had some flashes. I think with a lot of ice time and some different coaching could peak out as a second line center. He's the wildcard of the trade.

I am really glad you guys got your team back. (I am a Rams fan who saw them come and go) You guys as fans have proven they should have either never left and I hope you guys finally get a cup soon.
Thanks for the insight. Hopefully PLD puts up 90 points a year for you guys

I'm not as concerned. The teams defense was top half last year and is likely better this year with moving out some of our one dimensional forwards and replacing them with better defensive ones. I think if we get league average goaltending we will be ok.

My main concern is if this team will be able to score with the talent likely leaving upfront.
Sure, the scoring - but right now league avg goaltending looks to be a bit of a stretch.

Why? There are plenty of goalies like Hart, Thompson, Swayman on the market that should be able to provide it. Just a matter of Chevy getting one.
And today proved that if he can get one for the right price (or less), he will do so

I disagree about Kupari, if he gets a bigger role here he should do well. He was buried on a much deeper Kings team.

Kupari is another maybe. I mistakenly had Iafallo at 1 yr. 2 is actually better. I think he is a decent player, though a little overpaid. We should be able to handle the overpay with what is leaving unless we go overboard to extend Scheifele.

I would bet a nickel that we do just that but Scheifele's extension won't kick in for a year and Wheeler's contract will be gone for certain by then.

Will Wheeler actually be moved this year? Will Helle be traded? Or will Chevy hope we have a good enough season to persuade him to stay too? Its hard to imagine not moving both after all the talk, but ........... Chevy.

If Wheeler is bought out, his contract will last 2 years.

Im not bashing PLD as hard as everyone else... he's 24 and has shown flashes of dominant 1C - if Kopitar and the Kings system can get him to buy in - that's a win... I think this contract will age really well too

Time will tell
Agreed. If he is more consistent over the course of a season he is a bonafide #1 unicorn C. Jets gave up the best player.

Very satisfied with the return.

I dunno. Depending on who else is going with PLD, iafallo and Kupari are upgrades over some of the trash we trotted out there last year. Vilardi is a step down from Dubois. Does it all wash out? If so, chevy did an OK job in a tough spot

Ehlers schief perfetti
Connor vilardi Nino
Barron Lowry iafallo
XXX Gus Apples

(Assuming Harkins is part of the deal)

Re-sign Names and I think that forward group looks better than what we iced this year to be honest

I hope a healthy Vilardi can play 2C but pencilling him in there now is assuming a lot, IMO.

I don't know if we will sign Namestnikov or not but he might be a better bet at 2C than Vilardi is. Maybe it is time for Perfetti at 2C.

We do have more depth up front, especially with the presence of Nino and more so if we keep Names.

I'm curious to hear what Chevy will say on it tomorrow. We may get a clue there.

One of the most refreshing parts about this deal has been the interaction so far with the Jets/Kings fans on this board and specifically this thread.

Seems like a solid bunch over there who have provided a lot of insight on their players involved in the deal and it is much appreciated.

Nice to see friendly, intelligent banter about the pieces involved in the deal as opposed to the "he's not worth more than Dvorak and Anderson" or "we will get him for free in a year anyways!" type of BS.

Talk about nauseating stuff.

Lowry needs to be on the 4th line, that's been a thing in my head forever. Your 3rd line can't be your ground and pound line. Lowry doesn't really benefit from a middle six player at his side.

Also the team loves to overplay Lowry which is just another crazy thing. He's too valuable to risk hurting.

Good trade.

LA gets a piece who may be a game-changer for them if he hits his potential as a scoring power forward who's a pest to play against and draws plenty of penalties to counter those he takes and finds more consistency overall in his game.

WPG gets 4 pieces who are quality players for know and also potentially team-changing for a team room that has clearly underperformed for long stretches since the glory days of 18-19.

Both sides get lots of what they need.

Now start hoarding futures, Chevy.

Yup. Good trade. Could be a win/win. But there is a lot of risk on both sides. I think the number of pieces coming back mitigates the risk for Jets. Even if Vilardi's back lets him (and us) down, we still have Iafallo, Kupari and a 2nd. If PLD quits on the Kings, they have nothing but a bad contract.

I am glad Montreal didn't get Dubois. The last thing I want to see is Dubois score in Winnipeg and have Habs fans cheering.
It could never work.

Dubois will screw up their cap structure, he wouldn't play for less than suzuki, and yet he can't be paid more than suzuki without screwing with the team's salary structure. If PLD wants more so does everyone else.

It was never gonna happen, I have no idea where people thought PLD would line up.

Columbus offered pld for Suzuki, and the habs declinned, back when suzuki was just a munkin and PLD was suppose to be a point a game power forward.

the habs would never value pld above suzuki and pld wouldn't play for less than him.

Just the same the Jets could never allow a player to walk like that. They'd be better off from a team building perspective to pay someone to take Dubois than to give the current players any ideas about their ability to make their own trades at a poutine shop.
