I'm humming the theme to Rocky ..... not sure why

Ivan Drago would be impressed with Kovy. I love that he’s getting after it. Great example for all the guys on the club.

I find my self singing “hearts on fire” while seeing Kovy lug that tire.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

He's likely still the most naturally skilled player on the team, even at 36. Regardless of when that trick was done. He just doesn't fit with anyone. It might make sense to put him out there with Lewis, and someone else that will hang back and play defense, and let him just do whatever it is he does in the o-zone at ES.
I’d like to see a Kovy-Amadio-Wagner 3rd line. Amadio is smart all 200 feet. Wagner backchecks as well as any King.

Lance Bouma has agreed to a PTO with the Los Angeles Kings.

Bouma picked up two assists in three games for Geneve-Servette HC of Switzerland's National League last year. In 2017-18, he produced nine points in 53 matches with the Chicago Blackhawks and he had 14 points in 20 AHL outings with Rockford.

Maybe another body for Ontario on an AHL only deal if he shows well at camp. Don’t really get the move other than that as the Kings are very close to the maximum 50 pro contracts.

Bouma used to be a pretty good bottom six forward who was physical and could chip in some offense, but injuries have taken a toll on him. Seems like every year the Kings invite a veteran guy like that to camp: Brandon Prust, Ethan Moreau, Trent Hunter, Brooks Laich, etc.

It's a PTO. Could be a favor to him to audition for other teams... could be just to pad the roster for preseason games. They open the preseason with simultaneous games against Arizona. Maybe they just want another veteran body in the pivot since Sutter isn't available (I don't think)

Don't understand the Bouma move at all.

The guy is simply a pulse on skates. We've got plenty of those.

PTO warm body, adds some flexibility with the preseason "veteran" rule (short version is you have to have 8 veterans at a minimum). Kings open up with a split squad on the 17th against Arizona and I imagine that they'll send a B team for the road game.

Over-under on Turcotte fighting Toffoli at practice?

Honestly, Turcotte may end up being better than Hughes...Dach, et al. Not saying I expect that..it's possible though. Hughes is just so small and looks like a 15 year old. Not taking anything away from
his ability and game. if you're going to play at 5'10 170, in the NHL, it will take more than elite skill and skating. Going to take some physical strength and tenacity. But regarding Turcotte,
his skill and speed is not far off from Jack, honestly. Maybe not the same level as vision to make insane plays....but Turcotte's 200 foot game, skills and work ethic is elite at his age.
Kings are lucky he dropped to them.

Not sure I would call dropping from #2 to #5 "lucky"

Not sure why we are differentiating "lucky" from "fortunate".... Basically, getting Turcotte to fall to us at 5 was lucky - we all thought we were going to get Dach, right? The Kings only had a 37.6% chance to draft within the top 3 as the team with the second-worst record, yet we got essentially the # 3 consensus pick.

Ilya is still a talented player and his signature asset is still there as he is still probably in the 95th percentile for shooting the puck but he's old as dirt for a hockey player. And father time never loses to anyone not named Tom Brady.

Much like with Gaborik, it would have been something else to have been able to get this guy while he was still in his prime.

Over the first 14 games last season Kovalchuk scored 14 points, which was 4 points better than anyone else on the team.
WD joined the team shortly after and placed Kovalchuk on the 4th line, giving him 5-7 minutes a night and his scoring rate consequently plummeted.
I wouldn't write him off based on last seasons performance, because prior to the coaching change he showed that he could still produce. The aging cliff may be coming, but I don't think he has fallen over it just yet.

The fact that people are using Kovys points total after WD and Stevens used him atrociously is still crazy to me.

I'm using the fact that he is 36 against him.

There are a few exceptions but most guys simply can't compete at a high level at 36.

We dont need him at a high level, Kovy adding 20-ish goals helps this team in various ways..
Increases trade value, Helps create a second scoring line if he isnt with Kopi of course, Helps the PP, Can be somewhat of a safety blanket if a JAD gets a cup of coffee and needs a veteran on his line.. Hell, He was dumped on the 3rd line with Amadio and they looked outstanding, so he's still useful.. to a contender:sarcasm:
