Carey price has a .900 season and two .905s.

Fleury has .896, .898, .905, .906.

Even Lundqvist has a .907.

Most of these guys have at least one total garbage season and came back just fine or better. I'd bet on Quick, especially given everyone sucked but Iafallo and Clifford (and rookies).

I could be a repeat of two seasons ago.. Kopitar, Quick, Doughty all having monster years..if this is indeed the case, that means one or two of Toffoli,Carter or Martinez had a return to norm. Hopefully that means we have an extra 1st, 2nd and a few new prospects in our pipeline..

This is not even a rumor...it's total speculation on his part. Worthless as is most of what Bernstein and Hoven "report".

Yep. "Wouldn't be surprised" is meaningless. It is pure click bait and nothing else.

Yes, Petersen has 2-way in his first year of the deal, but I think that's there only just in case they can't/won't trade Quick or Campbell, so he has a place to go.

Yes, exactly. It's very likely Petersen will be in Ontario to start the year. That's why the contract is what it is, and why they gave Petersen $425k guaranteed. They know he's going to be with the Reign, and they're trying to compensate him because he's going to be 25 in Oct, and no closer to a #1 job in the NHL than he was in Oct 2018.

As for the return the Kings could get, I doubt it would be any of their young forwards or forward prospects except maybe Wennberg so I would expect one of their young D-men and/or a pick to be coming back. I also don't think that they would have to send one of their 1-way goalies back, since they should be very easy to trade to some team looking for a backup.

...or Columbus could have another deal in mind with another team moving out one of their goaltenders.

There just aren't that many teams that need goalies.

If my math is right, since June 2018, 9 goalies have been traded. Budaj, Grubauer, Coreau, Mazanec, Talbot, Stolarz, Kinkaid, Reimer, and Darling. 4 of those guys were traded for each other, and Mazanec was dealt twice. Once for a 7th, and again as a throw-in. He's 28, so he's got no potential left, he's just a guy that plays hockey. Kinkaid was a rental for depth purposes at the deadline. Coreau and Budaj, same as Mazanec. Just space filling goalies that happen to play pro hockey. Grubauer was the one actual goalie traded. For much the same reason that Jones had to go in 2015; Holtby was the clear #1, Grubauer was an RFA, and the Caps were up against the cap. The goalies closest to Quick in age were Budaj, Talbot, Reimer, Darling, and Kinkaid. Only Budaj was older, and even Darling had fewer years left on his contract.

None of those goalies were traded between the end of the 2018 draft and January 3rd, 2019. Reimer/Darling, June 30th, right before the big summer moves get made. A couple minor league goalies were traded on July 1st, 2017, and then the next goalie was traded until Oct 2017.

The past isn't an exact roadmap for the future or anything, but I think we're hoping against hope about the Kings goaltending situation. Old goalies don't tend to get traded. Goalies tend to have to be traded in any trades involving goalies going the other way, simply for roster space purposes. Teams don't tend to give younger goalies away, unless they're forced by the cap. I would say those are time tested observations. There might be an exception somewhere, but generally, that's the goalie market. Quick is likely going to be here tomorrow, in Oct, in March, 12 months from now, etc.

Came across two older articles on The Athletic from their "The Gifted" series where they deep dive into video on a chosen prospect's best attribute. They've highlighted 2 future Kings hopefuls, and I thought I'd share:

Carl Grundstrom
Gabe Vilardi

The most recent article on Cale Makar is great too; the Avs are going to a nightmare for the next decade.

Is anyone going to check out the World Junior Summer Showcase? I saw that Turcotte and Fagemo will be playing and it looks like the last 3 days are going to be broadcast on the NHL network.

Some people are already watching, I'd love to. Thats' where the great updates on Nousiainen were coming from.

Watching the USA-Finland game

More impressed with Nousiainen than Kaliyev. Nousiainen is great at moving the puck up the ice and pass forwards with ease. Kaliyev looks rusty and needs to learn how to use teammates. He is not connecting with passes and looks lost on the defensive end.

The best players so far in my opinion is Zegras, Kid battles hard and is a genius with the puck.

So since the offseason is over for all intents and purposes, just making sure I've got this right:

From last year's NHL roster we subtracted Phaneuf, Liepsic and Brodzinski the Great, and added a couple scrubs on D. That about it?

It was put out dont expect anything major in FA.The Kings are no longer in a win now situation.Kings are not trying to contend but to assess their youth. They are rebuilding and waiting for a few seasons to get back to contending. Now,they may trade away some of their veterans and that's about it.It maybe a long couple of seasons.

Berggren (#LGRW) had an up and down game. Started strong, struggled hard in the latter half of the first period and into the second but had a ton of jump in the third.
Fagemo (#LAKings) had jump from start to finish. Speed was his biggest weapon, using it on the first Goal

Bjornfot (#LAKings) was Sweden’s most consistent defender. He closed gaps efficiently and was excellent at stopping plays in the NZ.
Gustafsson (#WPGJets) and Karlberg (#CBJ) were both great towards the end of the game after struggling to start.

Oh I wasn't expecting anything in free agency, more of jettisoning some of the unlovable losers from last year. One bozo "insider" even said as much as half of the roster could be different by the start of the year, LOL.

I think one has to include Prohorkins coming over from Russia

Ah yes, the guy everyone's been clamoring for for last 8years. How could I forget, thanks.

It's not going to be that easy. It can't be in a hard cap league. Anyone saying a roster turnover like that would be quick is just doing it for clicks I guess. The next guys to leave will likely be Toffoli, Lewis, Clifford, and Forbort, but not until the deadline, because none of those guys are guys you get before you know what kind of team you have. Campbell is probably in there too somewhere. After next year is Kovalchuk and Martinez. Probably Iafallo too, when he needs yet another contract at 27. The year after that is when the core of the core finally starts to quietly fade away, but that's a ways away.

It's going to be a slow burn of waiting out the contracts. Nobody needs old guys with term. One reason I wouldn't mind seeing Kupari play in Finald for one more year. It extends his ELC that much further into the future. The Kings need that extra time because of the old folk.

This trade went over well with the fans.

Tocchet was fun to watch when he was healthy and playing, but sadly, he was often injured or playing hurt, past his prime, and had a very short stay in LA.
