Does it? There's only a handful of starting goalies under 26. Only ones that played more than 40 games are Vasilevskiy, John Gibson, Hellebuyck, Matt Murray, and Petersen isn't quite that pedigree. Carter Hart is sure to be on that list, as is maybe Korpisalo. But Petersen won't even be 25 until after this year starts. Not like the clock is running out, unless they insist on not playing him at all. All those other guys seem to get a few seasons of 20-40 games before taking the role or not.

Then why do we care about him? He's just another dude.

The Kings have had some great RWers over the years. Maybe in over Williams? Gaborik?

Deadmarsh almost exclusively played LW here. Could play either side, but he was on the left with Allison and Palffy. Same way Brown flipped sides with Kopitar and Williams. It's tough, because Deadmarsh was here for such a short amount of time, but I'd have to cheat and force him onto the team, regardless of position if necessary. I'd put him as the backup goalie, just to get his name on the team. If Robitaille is on the team, who really only had one good year for the Kings this century, I'm getting Deadmarsh in there too. Want to move Carter to C, take Stoll out, put Deadmarsh where Carter is, that works too.

Maybe do a memorable moments 21st century roster? Then Penner has to be on the team over Smyth, Frolov, or Robitaille.

.

Because there's a lot of grey area between "elite pedigree young starter" and "dumpster?" And more options are good.

I'm just saying that goalies aren't like forwards (whose scoring trajectory starts dying at 26ish) or defensemen and that it's not abnormal for a guy to break in on the wrong side of his mid-twenties, particularly if he isn't an elite goalie or behind an (formerly?) elite goalie.

I might be late to this but did anybody see Quick went to DaveArt this year for his helmet instead of Eye Candy Air? Wonder if it means he’s ditching the knight helmet design, that’ll be depressing. I felt it was iconic like the goalies of old.

first I have heard on this.

On a similar note I am the only Jersey loser that feels if the kings introduce some colour (purple or Gold) into the their outdoor jersey this season will not be a total waste?

You will get more grey and like it, because that is the only shade of color this team can conjure up when designing new uniforms.

That's a great deal for the Kings. They probably don't have a choice but to keep Quick and maybe him and Peterson can be a solid duo.

Imo if Petersen is the goalie full time next year we will make the playoffs . His style is better suited for the modern NHL and the kid can play . He was really good . This is going to be a great contract for us but once he hits UFA he is going to get paid if his play continues the way it has . Probably messed with his head going back to AHL and also the team was terrible down there .

I’m glad to see the AHL is going to be flush with talent and young pieces as well and mostly our draft picks . Been waiting for this . See what we have and transition to the future of Kings hockey

Since 1/1/00, Kopitar and Brown are the only guys to hit 1000 games. 19 defensemen have played for the equivalent of 2 full seasons, and Modry is 7th on that list. Blake is 5th in goal scoring by d-men. Stoll is 11th in overall goals. Armstrong is 10th overall in assists. Of the guys with at least 100 shots on net, Deadmarsh leads the way in sh% at 19.7. Toffoli is a +83, Palffy is a +81, 1st and 2nd for the franchise. JMFJ is a -90, last overall, followed by Blake at -44. Corvo is a +25, which is 4th best among d-men. Forbort had played in more regular season games in a Kings jersey this century than Blake, Mitchell, O'Donnell, Schneider, Voynov, and Regehr. Galley and Berg have played in LA in this century, which doesn't seem like it's true.

The continued drabness has really matched the franchise since 2014.

I'd love for them to do some sort of refresh starting with maybe the 20-21 season to usher in a new decade and hopefully the start of a youth movement and fresh faces. With Luc at the helm and the Kings winning in the current jerseys, it probably won't happen. That being said, this franchise has not been shy about changing its sweater designs.

$(^&% it, I'm rolling four scoring lines:

Deadmarsh - Allison - Palffy (I just can't break this line up - I remember the first 12/13 games of 2002-03, when this line was just DESTROYING every team it came across. And then, began a sad song.....)
Brown - Kopitar - Demitra
Carter - Richards - Williams
Robataille - Stumpel - Stoll
(Honorable mentions/spares: Frolov, Conroy, Laperrierre)

Blake - Norstrom
Doughty - Mitchell
Visnovsky - Scuderi
(Honorable mentions/spares: Schneider, Voynov)

Seriously, you'd think with the team struggling that the organization would try to get some interest with an interesting 3rd jersey, maybe drop some retro designs like every other f***ing team in the league. Instead they roll out a boring rehash of the 50ths. It's so crazy to me how bad the off ice product has become while the on ice product has fallen off. I mean, the in arena presentation and the TV broadcast have to be some of the worst in the entire league at this point. I can accept that the team is going to suck sometimes, but that shit is unacceptable.
