I simply don't understand the breakdown in the team's puck handling skills. Literally NOTHING is moving fast enough when the team has the puck. Passes aren't clean. If they're slightly off, the play fails completely. Tons of offsides. Tons of icings. Turnovers everywhere. For what this team's strengths are, it just makes no sense. None at all.

how did our 8 million dollar goaltender do tonight?

i didnt even bother watching tonight bc i knew they were most likely going to lose

All things considered, pretty well. The Malkin goal wasn't good. He made huge saves in the third period to keep us in it.

Not his best, but he still played well enough to win a playoff game, if the team in front of him had shown up.

Okay.

I've been down on Lundqvist as much as anyone this season, but he's far from the reason they're getting beat.

Question. Would you trade Lundqvist to Washington for Ovechkin?

I wouldn't.

They're dead tired. It makes plenty of sense.

This team looks similar to the early season Rangers when they were still learning the system.

If Nash, McDonagh and St. Louis were all playing this series at the same level Henrik Lundqvist is, it would probably be tied up - and no, of course Hank isn't playing at the top of the top of his game.

They have two outstanding players, I think the trap is a brilliant move against us, but Pittsburgh isn't a special hockey team.

i would have agreed for games 2 and 3, but they had a day off. plenty of time to recooperate and come out flying tonight. apparently they did not. Tired, is not an excuse in tonights game.

I just don't believe that. I did not see an inability to keep up with the play, though I did see some quite idiotic plays. Cute passes that you would not see a more talented player like Toews attempt.

It is always irritating when they appear to surrender. It seems like the fans want them to win worse than they want to win themselves. How can you come out for a must win game and end up with 15 shots? How can MSL complete more passes to the opponent than he did to his teammates. How can Nash be so completely lame? How can the center position with Stepan and Richards turn into an absolute donut hole? Here is the most important issue for the club.......they had 6 home playoff games.......6 big gates of extra inflated prices. Sather will get a raise and a spectacular performance evaluation from Dolan.

If by one you mean three.

And I love that we now hold Hank to the same level as Fleury. Wow.

He let up two bad goals IMO.

Certainly not his best game. At the same time, he made some big saves to keep the Rangers in it at points. Then once they got back in it, he folded.

Fleury has had it way too easy this series. But he shouldn't be held to the same standard as Lundqvist. Lundqvist should be better than him. I don't think the team has afforded Lundqvist the opportunity to be better than him.

This is another game, where if Fleury was sharp, he could have had potentially three consecutive shutouts (I thought the game was that easy for him). Lundqvist was the only one who was forced to come up with multiple challenging saves.

I try to be objective with Lundqvist, even though I'm admittedly a big fan of his, but I think he let up two bad goals tonight, and I do think he was part of the loss. I also think St. Louis, Nash, McDonagh were bigger parts of the loss. This was collectively, as a team, our lousiest effort of the post season. From the net out.

I think McDonagh has been our worst defense man in the post season. Which is the biggest blow to the team, because he was our most consistent performer during the regular season. McDonagh just doesn't have it. He is being burned multiple times every game. He is making mistakes. And I stand by what I said earlier, he should be scratched if he cannot compete at this level. If he is injured, and can't play at the typical McDonagh level (or honestly, just the level of an average NHL defense man) than it might make sense for him to sit and nurse his injury. He isn't helping the team with his defensive efforts, at all. There is usually at least 1-2 goals every game that can be directly attributed to a McDonagh miscue.

I'm also just stunned with Nash at this point. I don't even know how to express my disappointment in him anymore. I'm admittedly not a fan of Nash. I wish we never acquired him (was never a fan of the trade from the get go). And he is proving to me why I was dubious of the trade from the start. I can't go back and forth with Nash apologists anymore. The stats speak for themselves. Sometimes stats aren't indicative of a players effort or performance, but I think it is 100% the case with Nash. I think if Nash could be an impact player we win the Flyers series in less than 7 (although, I think he was decent in that series despite not scoring) and I think this series could be tied up if Nash brought even an average level of play for a 30 goal scorer. I'm just at a loss for words with him now.

The team tonight gave up. It's on everybody. And that's what is most disappointing. That this team didn't have the passion or heart to compete with the Penguins in a must win game. If they weren't going to give it 110% this game, there isn't going to be a game where they are going to give it 110%.

What game did you watch?

Yes, the team sucked, as did Hank.

Man o shivitz, the excuses are never ending.

Lundqvist will never get the goal support he needs to win a Cup, but he agreed to stay here so he has to deal with the reality.

He ain't winning a Cup wearing a Rangers jersey.

Well AV just said he disagrees with the fans booing Rick Nash...it would be better if we supported but he also said fans can ultimately do what they want

I'll compromise and call the Kunitz goal "questionable" instead of bad.

Agreed with just about everything else you wrote, too.

I would be more interested in worrying about the goals that Hank gave up if we had applied any sustained offensive pressure all game. Hank could've had the best game of his life, but we still wouldn't have won this one.

Well I want my 8 million dollar winger to score some goals, but we can't always what we want.

Logically, you would think that, and I'm not questioning that.

I'm questioning the way the schedule was put together, because it didn't HAVE to be put together that way. That's all I'm saying. There's no logical reasoning behind the 3 games in 4 nights to start the series.

And, the ratings for the Penguins in Pittsburgh are astronomical. They get something like a 50.

I may have interpreted you wrong. I took your post to mean the NBC deliberately screwed the Rangers to get them out of the playoffs, not that the NHL gave them the schedule they wanted and that hurt the Rangers. If the latter was your point, I'm on board. Anyway, the schedule is not the reason we'll (probably) be losing the series. The awful PP, disappearing star players, inadequate line matching and coaching, McD's injury and a sub par performance from Hank are the reasons. The schedule didn't help though.
