For you guys that love your American prospects and the great timmens American prospects

Tinnordi
Mcarron
Galchenuck
Phoeling
Christo

Finally and hopefully this experiment comes to an end

Meh.

We could have picked a bunch of them this year in the draft (Cooley at #1, Nazar at #13 and Howard at #26).. they didn't but still picked Hutson late.

To take so much salary and commitment with this new guys they better have some good insight on his potential (which apparently they do). Now so we trust their judgment? Too early to tell.

Maybe if we get rid of Gally somehow then I will freely trust them.

Timmens was the worst at drafting in first round

He sure did love his American high school kids which most were busts.

Timmens the captain of first round busts

A bit disappointed in the return, I thought Petry would have returned more, but if Matheson is able to build on his career year from last year, it’s not a bad pickup. We acquired a younger and cheaper defenseman, lost some depth in Poehling, which we immediately replaced in Pitlick. And we cleared some more cap, something which is obviously a priority to the management.

Hard to bring more when you look at the Pacioretty, Burns and McDonagh trades

Lol Hutson are you kidding me !!! We will see in 3 years if a 150 pound defensman can stand up to 200 pound nhl forwards. Please

Eventually we will need to trade Caufield before he becomes ufa

Americans don’t want to play in Canada unless they are on the last year of their career or beginning of career.

That’s a fact

Just like gaudrea
Just like Mathews from Toronto will want
Just like tkachuk from Calgary will want
Just like Tkachuk in Ottawa….oh wait
Just like Boeser in Vancouver…..nope, bad example
Just like Kyle Conn…..nope
Maybe Blake Wheeler…..shit….no

Montreal literally just traded an American who signed in Montreal as a Free Agent twice and played his entire peak of his career in Canada. Plenty of Americans stick around in Canada.

That kind of generalization is generally poorly reasoned and seems to be based entirely on Gaudreau (which was a Eastern over Western thing).

I wasnt ready to give up on him until I saw him on the wing innthe top 9 with good offensive players.

We saw all these vets with no future here with Suzuki amd Caufield. We couldn't at least get a look at Poehling with them???
He was drafted 5 years ago. I think he just ran out of time to show what he could do here. I was hoping for better from him. Every training camp I kept hoping he'd break out but he never did.

Just because Poehling was moved before he got a full chance here, doesn't make him a bust - yet.

Most will walk whether you want to admit it or not.

It’s a fact

Over the years Americans (many many ) of them don’t want to play in Canada

This is fact

Fact

Not sure what everyone's bitching about. How exactly is this a horrible trade? Petry sucked ass last year, didn't want to be here, and is getting older to the point where he will be in serious decline.

Poehling? Who cares. The guy couldn't crack it, never had impressive numbers since his draft year, and fell deeper down the depth chart with every passing year.

Matheson was actually good last season, and we saved cap in the deal. Hughes has said that his main priority right now is clearing cap space, and he did just that.

I would have liked to have seen what he could do on the wing. Focus on getting up and down the wong, making some of those nice passes, deflections, and shots in close he showed.

Are you kidding me !!! Petry said he didn’t want to play in Canada. Why you choose to disregard

He wasn’t but I was hoping for pick or prospect that could have a chance / some hope of maybe being something… I was hoping he would get something for taking on Matheson or trading them Petry+ Peohling… Pit had to move a contract to make room so we paid Poehling and only got a 4th for taken the contract so they can upgrade there D…
Yea Pittsburgh had to move a D, but so did we. We had to move Petry. Yes, I know Hughes said otherwise and technically that’s correct, but it’s much better for everyone if he wasn’t here next year, so we did have to move him.

Look at what Pacioretty got last week. Mcdonaugh. If you thought we were taking no salary back and getting a 1st as well, you were mistaken to begin with

He got 2M+ in cap space and a younger defensemen who is very capable . Not sure what your issue is

They weren't busts aside from Fischer. They all played a whole bunch in the NHL and most of them still play in it. Have they reached their full potential? Not exactly. But when you look at other players picked in the first round, you'll notice that a bunch of them have never reached the NHL...

🤔

Jeff Petry with Montreal

Age 28 - 16 points
Age 29 - 29 points
Age 30 - 42 points
Age 31 -46 points
Age 32 -40 points
Age 33 -42 points in 55 games.

Here's an exciting thing for me, Matheson numbers before coming to Montreal are actually
BETTER than Jeff Petry with the Oilers...

Mike Matheson

Age 27 - 31 points

Let's see how he does from age 28 to 34..,.,.,i got a good feeling here.

Fact
Most players walk from their teams at one point or another.

Plus there’s like 7 Canadian teams vs 25 US based….of course most players that walk end up on a US based team.

People here want to hold onto players after showing nothing. When players have negative value. We need to trade them while they have some value

Was good to clean timmens garbage
