Petry was 27 (turning 28 that year) when we acquired him and had 32 points over his last 139 games (2 seasons). He doesn't have the same potential offensively. And he is already 28.

I just think they wanted him gone due to being atrocious while getting a vet def but he's worse than Petry as a playerYou think they didn’t ask Boucher’s gang?
Petry put us in a bad bargaining position by requesting a trade and to a couple of US teams only so yeah return not awesome.
That said it’s exactly the other way around for the PLD discussions. We were the Jets with Petry wanting out.
Thank you. We have a fan base that doesn’t follow a lot of the rest of the NHL and jump to conclusions before getting all the facts. Thanks for your valuable intel.Pens fan. Matheson had a very good year and has skill that few D men have. He is not Mr shutdown on d but his skating and puck passing is really good. Pens are getting bigger on D and really Poehling can use a change of teams.
Norlinder instead of Harris for meEdmunson - Wideman
Matheson - Savard
Schueneman/Leskinen - Harris
or
Matheson - Edmundson
Harris - Savard
Leskinen/Schueneman - Wideman
I'm just looking at the numbers compared to Petry1, so good to know about Petry2.
Still spewing this without saying who else he brought in that was a former client.Wish he'd stop with this former clients bullshit. Why did they hire him if its just to sign his old clients? Lol
Bringing players that fail elsewhere and praying they turn their whole game around is not a rebuild.
I didn't know he was a former client... Makes me more optimistic about the trade & their evaluation of Matheson's fit & potential to contribute. We all thought out of his former clients from Pittsburgh, it would be Letang that would be brought in. Turns out, that former client from the Pens was Matheson.
You just work very hard to get rid of Drouin, Hoffman, Byron and Armia. And you don't take Dadonov for Weber. I am pretty sure a guy like BriseBois in TB would had work his way in this mess. How do you pay both Lehkonen and Romanov? Who do you trade?
By the time his contract hits year three , the cap will have increased and his salary will not look as bad.
Norlinder instead of Harris for me
There was NEVER going to be retention. He wouldn't have been traded if it didn't leave room to sign Pitlick. As much as Hughes was trying to say the right things for this trade .... This trade was always going to be bad because Petry was worst last year then the previous years and the whole league knew he requested a trade (which cannot include a Canadian Team) . At least there was no retention and Matheson can be traded in a couple years while a Petry retention cannot be traded .
Yeah people forget when we first got Petry he was a 25 point dman at best. He had a lot of warts and Edmonton was glad to dump him. Matheson had a good year last year, it's not crazy to think he's maturing as a player.Petry was 27 (turning 28 that year) when we acquired him and had 32 points over his last 139 games (2 seasons).
Which isn’t uncommon for top4 Dman to hit their stride later in their careersYeah people forget when we first got Petry he was a 25 point dman at best. He had a lot of warts and Edmonton was glad to dump him. Matheson had a good year last year, it's not crazy to think he's maturing as a player.
poehling was very unsatisfying.People need to relax: the whole point of trading Petry was not to get assets back, it was simply to clear cap. The contract is terrible and poehling was very unsatisfied
Might be Justin Holl...Hughes wants to bring a RD? Lol, imagine Subban?
You ask Gallagher to do us a solid and retire. How do you pay both Lehkonen and Romanov? Who do you trade?
