Pens fan. Matheson had a very good year and has skill that few D men have. He is not Mr shutdown on d but his skating and puck passing is really good. Pens are getting bigger on D and really Poehling can use a change of teams.

I don't love Matheson but on paper he's younger, coming off the better season and has a lower cap hit so you can see what they were going for. If he plays like he did last year, he'll be *very* easy to move, if he reverts back to the Matheson I saw at times in Florida, he'll be bought out in 2 years.

This trade is sbout a wash. As far as both players go, meh whatever. Poehling is lucky to get 20 goals in 5 years. We didn’t gain enough cap flexibility in this trade imo. This trade failed to address the issue (cap flexibility).

Another 1st round pick bites the dust with the Habs. Quite sad. But Poehling was due to fail. He was injured. Was yo-yoe'd between Laval and Montreal. Had a questionable attitude when sent back to Laval the first time. Did not impress much at NHL level. One of the few who regressed under MSL. He should do well in Pittsburg USA. He was the bonus to give to Pitts to get rid of Petry.

Petry had to go (unfortuneteley) and he is gone. Ms Petry is uber happy and that's what counts. Now we can understand why they traded d-men with NJ earlier today.

Price doesn't get to agree to anything since there is no way he will retire. He will have to go on LTIR and that can only happen if the doctors deem he is unable to play.

With the Pitlick re-signing...Poehling being moved cleared contract space for Rem. Pretty solid move for Hughes and for Hextall. Good two-team deal.
