You need NHL D even during the tank yrs. By the time MTL is looking at trying to be back in the playoffs, he will be in yr 3 or 4 of the contract.

Petry's situation wasnt good, period.

Poehling? Enough with the he was a first rounder. He is 23, has shown almost nothing. His value? Probably a 4th rounder

And that matters why? Brutal deal giving them Poehling. We will regret this deal, Poehling is a 20+ goal scorer in the making.

I like getting rid of Poehling. I didn't really want the Habs to sign him. I think they would have lost him to waivers. they got a 4th for him i'm happy with that

Was going to mention this...it is certainly probable that eventually the Jets will realise a bad deal is better than no deal (PLD walking away for free)

Wideman had 40 minutes more of PP time, you're right. But Petry had over 400 minutes more of ES time.

As far as turnovers... Petry averaged 4.26 per 60 giveaways a game last year. Only Clague averaged more. Wideman was still very high at 3.59.

Again. Another worthless stat. Petry probably had the puck 5x more than those wastes of space.

Another 1st round pick bites the dust with the Habs. Quite sad. But Poehling was due to fail. He was injured. Was yo-yoe'd between Laval and Montreal. Had a questionable attitude when sent back to Laval the first time. Did not impress much at NHL level. One of the few who regressed under MSL. He should do well in Pittsburg USA. He was the bonus to give to Pitts to get rid of Petry.

Petry had to go (unfortuneteley) and he is gone. Ms Petry is uber happy and that's what counts. Now we can understand why they traded d-men with NJ earlier today.

Matheson is a better D than he was when in Florida. He is a Montrealer !!! Right side of the D is a nightmare now with only Savard - Wideman - Barron. On the left: Edmundson - Matheson - Harris. What was the point of trading Romanov again ?

The line up is pretty much set up. But another trade could free up more $$$ under the cap. Drouin's ?

Neither has Poehling...and his upside was never going to be better than Dach's. Easy move for Hughes. I like Poehling, but he just wasn't working in Montreal and wasn't going to get the opportunity to show any more.
