There is no next wave of players.
I was referring to Erik Karlsson, who is only 34.
There is no next wave of players.
I mean, the point of playing is to win the game. The Pens have inarguably done that more than any team in the league with Sid.Who cares what they have done. The contract is for the future when they will be dead wood.
Yea his 94 points was the second best 36 year old season ever behind Gretzky.I apparently didn't really follow Crosby too closely this year. Holy shit, he's still scoring 40g+/90a+. Still underpaid.
What a career he continues to have.
Hes one of the few players who kept playing after those circumventing dealsthats nearly a 6m per raise from the last 3 seasons. Well done Sid
The individual matters way more than the team in basketball vs hockey. It is interesting how in the NHL number of Cups isn't the same legacy meter the way it is in the NBA. If he was an NBA player, he's jumping ship to chase another ring. I don't see it happening in Pittsburgh anytime soon.
Fair.Hes one of the few players who kept playing after those circumventing deals
People who enjoyed watching it.Who cares what they have done.
Only took you since Jul 7, 2007 to get it!I honestly didn’t pick up on the 8.7 till now.
Duh
Pretty cool for him.
I think you forgot the sarcasm emoji before hitting "post reply".Pens will regret this contract on the last year of the deal. Too much $ and too much term, the contract will be unmovable on the last year of this deal.
When you have that much, money isn’t that big of a deal.I was going to say over/under $30 million. That's insane.
Yea his 94 points was the second best 36 year old season ever behind Gretzky.
Ovechkin’s 50 goal age 36 season was better, and unlike Crosby, Ovie got his team into the playoffs.
So team success matters when it favors your guy now?Ovechkin’s 50 goal age 36 season was better, and unlike Crosby, Ovie got his team into the playoffs.
I recall comming across stats on players how much they made in sponsorships, in Sid’s case I believe it’s an additional 3.5-4 mil per yearIt's not like 8.7 is the only money he will make. There's the sponsorships, commercials, and whatnot.
The reason you see nba superstars forming super teams because 1-2 nba superstars literally win you championships. 1-2 superstars might get you a cup or two in your teams lifetime. NHL players just don’t impact the game singularity like nba stars do.It is interesting how in the NHL number of Cups isn't the same legacy meter the way it is in the NBA. If he was an NBA player, he's jumping ship to chase another ring. I don't see it happening in Pittsburgh anytime soon.

Not getting into this, Ovechkin has been one dimensional for a long time. Crosby's been the better player for over a decade.Ovechkin’s 50 goal age 36 season was better, and unlike Crosby, Ovie got his team into the playoffs.
