Also, I think we come into this summer thinking Cup or bust. At that point, we go and get that impact 2C that will change the entire picture. Miller, Schneider, Jones, Kakko, Laf all have one more year of experience and they will have playoff experience at that point. I just don't think we "go for it" now.

I don't think Gallant or Drury are thinking win at all costs, but the ahole at the top is capable of screwing it all up.

Honestly with Kakko coming back and Laffy seeming to rise to the occasion of being a top liner, you don’t even need to add big pieces at the TDL. Just some depth to push McKegg out of the lineup. Even a guy like Namestnikov who could be had for basically nothing would be a good add.

That being said, ideally we add a 2nd line caliber winger. Slot him on the third line.

You want Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves to be the 4th line.

You upgrade that third line and it will make all the difference. A third line of the Zucc-Brass-Pouliot variety would rule.

Ok. But I'm not one of those who says he isn't trying. I'm just calling his play style into question when it's tight checking, which is what should be expected in the poststeason.

But in the postseason is when he has played his best hockey.

No idea what will happen this year but until he isn't good in the playoffs there are lots of other things that concern me on on this team.

Mostly, I want one more guy who can score and one more solid two-way player.

Rangers 5-1-1 in last 7. Lets not overreact to a 1 goal loss that was basically even. I'm actually encouraged after this game and against Washington. I'm convinced this team can beat anyone in the east in a series except Carolina.

I agree mostly but Carolina can be beat depending on goalie play

Of note,... This was the worst game I ever seen Panarin play. Totally ineffective. Could not create any time or space,.. and his passes were off the mark or intercepted. Lost battles for the puck he usually wins, and turned it over more times than he ever has. He didn't get much support from Strome or Hunt, but that has never stopped him before.

I don't know what it is, but every time we play the Pens, they look like the best defensive team in the league. They are 8th in the league in goals against, we're 3rd. They played another strong defensive game against us. This game looked very much like what it will be like in the playoffs. Lots of scrums, great D and low scoring.

Can't get too down on this loss. We played really excellent D. I was really impressed in how we moved the puck in our own end and kept them to the outside. And when you think how young our blueline is, that is really something. Jones and Schneider were excellent in almost 15 minutes of ice time. And we block 16 shots. Unfortunately, the Pens matched our defensive effort and blocked 19 .

Lindgren absolutely hated the call, he looked like he was in legitimate shock.



My two cents is it’s only a penalty because it’s Crosby and he goes down. It’s a solid and clean defensive play. Atrocious penalty call and even worse considering the way the game was being called.

I am sorry but I disagree, Chytil brings nothing to the table, where as McKegg can retrieve a puck and a willingness to go into the dirty areas.

I have a better chance of scoring a goal from my couch than McKegg does on the ice. He's completely inept offensively.

So did Fox. It was a terrible call, made even more frustrating by the fact that the refs decided to call this game like the playoffs and call nothing else. FFS, how this league doesn't understand that a consistent rule book is better for everyone is beyond me...

Got the stick on the hands and eliminated a scoring chance. That’s always a penalty.
