I just don't think Hunt is a factor in how things turn out with Panarin and Strome. The two of them are in a codependency.
True, but if they played with someone they felt good giving the puck to, there would be more options coming up the ice. Now to make your argument, they shut Kakko out too and he is perfectly capable. Anyway, trade Strome ASAP and find Bread a new line for the playoffs and beyond.

or not. Too many heavy hitters in the East this year. Keep the assets, let the kids develop and make deadline moves when we are really ready to go for the Cup. Which we are not right now. I do not want to lose Jones, Lundqvist, Kratsov, Cuylle or Chytil to try and upgrade this season. We will regret it.

There are almost always changes with playoff-bound teams, especially with those that need to push players down the lineup.

I certainly don't want Jones going anywhere. I love his game and I thought this was his best game, yet. Waiting for him to start being more offensive-minded but that might not come until next season.

Jarry has been good all year and last year has nothing to do with this one (look at our position vs last).

I think you can luck out against Carolina, not against Pitt. Bounces don't go your way against those guys if it comes down to that.

No question though Carolina is better than Pitt but it's the playoffs, different beast.

Not sure what you're going by. Pitt has underachieved in the last few playoffs.

For me, all of those guys are not worth trading for a run this season. If we can upgrade by trading picks, no problem. If we have to move Gauthier or Hajek or Rooney, again, go ahead.

They shut Kakko out because Kakko wanted to cycle play, which is actually what most NHL teams' top lines do. Panarin and Strome do not like the conventional cycle play. They opt for the low to high plays up the walls or diagonally to the opposite points after establishing the zone. They also love the switch plays, the pick-n-rolls at the points. Kakko then made the adjustment to go into the slot and net front, and that's when Panarin and Strome began passing to him more, because they like feeding others for tips.

Also, I think we come into this summer thinking Cup or bust. At that point, we go and get that impact 2C that will change the entire picture. Miller, Schneider, Jones, Kakko, Laf all have one more year of experience and they will have playoff experience at that point. I just don't think we "go for it" now.

KK never got fed the puck moving through the neutral zone with speed. They seem to look only for each other until the cycle starts. That is easy to defend.

People should get ready for Barron and Gauthier being scratches over McKegg.
Both had good games in very limited time. On the road, our opponents can load up against our one scoring line and shut us down; happened today. Mckegg just has to sit.

Color me shocked. Nationally televised game in Shitsburgh, Crosby has a menstrual cramp, which leads to winning the game. Same shit for the last 15+ years. But hey, at least they called 1 of the 7 cross checks in a row on Hunt.

That call was 100% legit.

He isn't looking great, but his output is normal. Maybe he's hurt?

I don't buy the notion that some are pushing that he isn't trying.

Ok. But I'm not one of those who says he isn't trying. I'm just calling his play style into question when it's tight checking, which is what should be expected in the poststeason.

Rangers 5-1-1 in last 7. Lets not overreact to a 1 goal loss that was basically even. I'm actually encouraged after this game and against Washington. I'm convinced this team can beat anyone in the east in a series except Carolina.
I don't know if that last part is true, but I definitely agree that the team is playing some of their best hockey of the year over the last two games, even though they lost this one. I can't be mad.

I think this gradually shifted. I hate to say it but I believe that there's always a trust factor at play. They started trusting Kakko more, not to mention they had to get used to each other.

And we didn't even make it. Jarry was the reason they lost last year, let's see how he trends going in.

What does the Rangers not making the playoffs have to do with your original point about fearing Pitt in the playoffs?

They have blown in the playoffs, recently. Has nothing to do with the upcoming playoffs, but saying Pitt is a different beast in the playoffs is only accurate in that the beast has been a beast in the regular season, not in the playoffs.

I think Pitt is more likely headed to the bottom of the league before winning a Cup.

That's a reasonable thought. Do you see us a contender, I mean a real contender? I know if you make the dance you have a shot. But, we are going to be real big dogs going into the playoffs because we do not have the developed depth and experience needed to win a few rounds. I do not want to lose anyone with a high ceiling which all of those players still have.
I actually do think we are a contender with Igor playing this well.
