Refs are going to swallow the whistle like this in the playoffs. Get used to it.

My issue is that they didn't really swallow the whistle. They called Rooney twice for doing nothing. They called Lindgren for lifting a stick (and yes there were things the other way).
If you're going to swallow the whistles and onlly call the most blatant stuff, fine (although I don't agree with it), but you can't then pick and choose when to call the little stuff

This game is everything wrong with this team. We have way too many guys who are nothing on offense. I hope we address this at the deadline
They can add to the team, but I hope they don't overcorrect and give up too much. Rangers got a lot of great scoring chances in the first and third and their goalie played really well. It happens.

Really concerned about Panarin and Strome being effective in the playoffs. Panarin's patented move where he stops at the blueline and looks for a cross-ice pass is easy to defend and can spring the opposition the other way. He basically just takes himself out of the play when he does that. It's maddening.
There is no reason to think they will. Strome should be dealt soon so we can begin working on the line combinations we will take into May. He is too much of a dog to thrive in a playoff environment. Cut the cord now and go with what we have; or add. Whatever. He is part of the problem, that is obvious. And now he is dragging down our leading scorer.

This.

He also does it on the breakouts. He does it all over the ice. Receives the pass and immediately looks pass. And Strome does it too.

I'm worried about it too. I thought they generated some decent scoring chances this game, but I get worried how that duo fairs in a game 4, 5, 6, and 7 in series when teams are really jamming them up and playing physically.

I actually do think Kakko can provide what is needed to help them down low and on the rush if he comes back strong. It would be amazing to have him get that sort of experience in the playoffs at just 21 years old.

Kakko should be carrying the puck as much as panarin on that line.

Rangers 5-1-1 in last 7. Lets not overreact to a 1 goal loss game that was basically even. I'm actually encouraged after this game and against Washington. I'm convinced this team can beat anyone in the east in a series except Carolina.

Despite my negative posts, I do agree with this, I still give them a puncher's chance against most of the east.

Carolina we got a punchers chance against. I truly believe Pitt will be the toughest matchup for anyone in the East.

I think we match up better against even TBL than Pitt.

He used to actually recieve the puck and curl up ice, carry it into the offensive zone and attack. The pull up and look for the trailer was a patented and effective play but it's like that's all that is in his playbook now.

Their recent track record in the playoffs says otherwise. Jarry will get lit up by a team with a legitimate offense.

You think we have a better chance against Carolina than Pitt? I don't think so. I agree Tampa may actually be a better matchup.

It’s like they’re the only two left on the roster that haven’t shaken the shitty habits from playing under Quinn.

If one’s moving their legs the other isn’t.

I think you're contradicting yourself. If the Pens played a good defensive game, we didn't shit the bed. The Pens with some help from their friends in stripes managed to limit our good chances. We fought hard, played well and couldn't buy one. I'm pissed at us not having a 3rd line that can score and Ryan Strome just being Ryan Strome.
I was on the keeping Strome bandwagon but now I am ready to jump off, he has his head up his butt too much lately. Dragging down Panarin with him
Maybe we can package Strome and Chytil and get something in return

One game does not a sample make, but based on today I think we'd match up pretty well with Pit in the playoffs. Add KK and Chytil back in plus a likely middle 6 forward or two and I'd fancy our chances

Plus Hunt doesn't have offensive instincts, so it's just really Bread and god awful Strome out there trying to generate chances. That line needs a complete shakeup and will get one after we decide not to re-sign Strome.

Honestly with Kakko coming back and Laffy seeming to rise to the occasion of being a top liner, you don’t even need to add big pieces at the TDL. Just some depth to push McKegg out of the lineup. Even a guy like Namestnikov who could be had for basically nothing would be a good add.

That being said, ideally we add a 2nd line caliber winger. Slot him on the third line.

You want Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves to be the 4th line.

Kreider-Mika-Laf
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Third line
Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves

You upgrade that third line and it will make all the difference. A third line of the Zucc-Brass-Pouliot variety would rule.
