Although this Ranger is infinitely better, this had the weird feeling of those ABC afternoon games in the Dark Ages era from 2000-2004. Just when I thought that ABC curse was over after that Black Friday win in Boston :rolly:

Can’t win them all. Pens got embarrassed against NJ, the odds were there’s come out and play well.
I’m happy with the compete level from our guys.
Anyone could have one this game, both jarry and shesty were excellent.
Barron-McKegg-Gauthier didn’t get a lot of ice time.
GG chose to run 3 lines more prominently.
Anyone who says we can’t win a 7 game series against the pens is wrong.
Hopefully kakko and at least 1 TDL add improves the roster as well.

I don’t usually harp on officiating, but it was grotesque all game.
It was absolute garbage from start to finish. Their stupid matching minors killed a lot of the flow to the game.
One minute they’d call you for a nothing cross check, and the next let another guy get away with 3/4/5 of them.
It’s a good way to confuse the players and take the fun out of an otherwise good game.
I don’t know how anyone can say that was unbiased officiating.
It gave the pens every opportunity to take the lead, and then they make a bullshit make up call late in the game.
It is what it is, good effort, on to the next.

If I don't see another ABC game, it would be of great benefit to my health. I'm tired of experiencing vertigo from their overhead cameras in motion. Whoever the hell came up with this ridiculous idea, ought to double up on their medication and have their walls padded to avoid injuring themselves.

Good to see the reporters asking questions about McKegg. Gallant knows the gig is up and fans are not happy about seeing Tanner McKegg so much.

I have come to expect terrible officiating in this league and I'm actually surprised when it's good. The call on Lindgren was weak as shit.

So true, lol. My head was spinning watching that overhead.

I have a better chance of scoring a goal from my couch than McKegg does on the ice. He's completely inept offensively.
I tend to agree with that statement but (and I could be wrong) I think I would rather have McKegg on the ice
Due to him being willing to get dirty, I am sorry that I had to give up on Chytil. It also seems that Chytil most of the time can’t hit the ocean from a boat

This is a team that has some depth issues up front. Which is to be expected for a team barely 4 years into a rebuild that has like 3 players from the rebuild that are everyday players in the NHL and hasn't had a chance to fill out its roster like TO was able to with homegrown talent like Kapanen, Johnsson, Hyman, Brown, etc.

This is one of the most unnatural teams of the cap era.

Playing for a team where he's getting more ice time and opportunity than he would receive here. He's also shooting 19% which isn't sustainable.

He is unquestionably better than at least half of our bottom 6 players right now.

Im not saying he’s the 2nd coming, but he’s an upgrade. A cheap one at that.

The Lias, Kravtsov and Chytil picks are killing us. Not the way to begin a rebuild. Part of the reason that I wasn't upset about letting Gorton go.

Gallant has proven at every step he doesn’t give a f*** what people think lmao

The press asking him about McKegg means zip

not a bad game played but defo need some help with the bottom 6. We're missing too many players and the ones we have generally have no desire or ability to score goals.

yea. Atrocious. The lindgren call was a hometown call and of course he sold it and grabbed lindgren dons leg when he went down.
But it was most of the game. Pettersson mugged Hunt 5-6 times before it was called.
Rooney gives half a cross check to malkin, and it’s matching minors...
Usually, it’s bad both ways, but today for sure benefitted the pens. Combine that with jarry playing excellent, and it proved too much.
Pitt also got away with at least 3 chip interference plays by my count. But honestly it could have been more.
Rangers had maybe 1-2 plays that could have been called that weren’t.
It was just lopsided, no other words for it.
Plus we had a few guys not on their A games either.
We can absolutely beat this team in a 7 game series imo.

Fox and Lindgren were brutal today. I think it might be time to shake up the pairings. Just to give it a different look. Fox doesn't look nearly as dynamic as he did his first two seasons either. I don't know what's going on with him.
How were they brutal? I saw one give away by Fox in the offensive zone. Heck, Lindgren even made a good back check when they called him on the bogus penalty.

I understand you're a fan, but there wasn't even a complaint about it from the player or anyone else that I saw.
No Lindgren was floored by the call. Watch the tape.

Also watch the play itself. Lindgren lifts the stick of Crosby. That's a textbook legal defensive play. You're allowed to do that.

"Can a player lift the opponent’s stick without being penalized under the Standard of Play guidelines?

Yes. A player may lift the opponent’s stick at anytime provided they do not impede their progress. This is most often done in an effort to prevent the opponent from playing the puck and is considered a good defensive play."

Standard of Play

That was as good of a defensive back check you could make. Ryan Mcdonough makes dozens of those a season.

Spent most of this game yelling at the refs and the camera angles from ABC.

I was looking for a big game from the 2nd line and I thought they got off to a good start. I thought Kreider was kind of off early, but generally, the pens were fortunate to get out of the first without being down a couple.

Rangers seemed to get worse as the game went on, or Pitt got better. The Malkin goal was a perfect shot off a perfect pass. I can't blame Shesty on that one. Not sure why the 3rd and 4th lines saw so much ice in the last half of the third period.

My reasonable Pens fan friend called this an “unsatisfying” win because of how bad the call was.

I am confident that Jarry doesn’t outduel Igor in a seven game series. The Pens are a good team, but more of an annoying, solid team than a juggernaut, scary one.

Lastly, I’m getting sick of both Panarin and Strome. I can’t stand their approach to the game 5 on 5.
