Make my day.
If Blues offer Parayko I don't see how the leafs don't jump on it.

They can get by with Matthews/Marner/Kadri/Kapanen/all their other forward prospects/2017 1st rounder, Parayko would fill their biggest hole about as well as possible.

JVR and a 2nd!

It is completely justified to ask for Matthews, if you want to talk Pietrangelo.

This board is crazily obsessed with the young guns sometimes...

sure, they can ask. but the leafs laugh and hang up.

Mcdavid is the only name that interests the leafs for Matthews, and that is 100% justified. 11pts in 12 games as a rookie. Toronto has their first #1C since Sundin. He goes nowhere

Don't worry the Oilers aren't the slightest bit interested.

Or the leafs just stick with the shanaplan and keep our ppg rookie?
Nylander is 20 and absolutely ripping it up. Parayako was in his 1st of 3 college seasons at the same age. hard pass

not worried in the least. Matthews will be a leaf for many, many years.

I'd love to see the reaction at any Mcdavid proposal for a top pairing Dman

Toronto has their franchise C. they finally have competent management not looking for a quick fix to save their jobs. this team will grow around Matthews,Nylander,Marner, and RIelly. should be fun to watch `

So now Nylander is worth an established #1Dman, Jesus ****ing Christ do you understand what a small sample size is? WOW

small sample size but its still 12 pts in 12 games as a rookie.
virtanen got 13 in 55 as a rookie for comparisons sake.

any thread that involved Matthews/Nylander/Marner/Rielly should just be insta locked.
they stay in Toronto for a long, long time

Not going to argue but at least we agree that this thread should be locked. Now.

Blues add big. Nylander would instantly become the Blues top forward, and probably their best forward in franchise history. While Petro is good he would be 2nd fiddle to Zaitsev on the right side in a couple years from now when Toronto will be playing in the SC finals.
Look at the last two conn smythe winners, Crosby and Kane. Is it that hard to see that that's where Nylander is headed? Toronto needs to keep him.

There's homer post and then there is this abomination.

Blues wont be trading their newly anointed captain and the leafs wont be trading their 20 year old leading scorer.

Both players are untouchable, so this is a non starter.

I can see why Leafs would want to get Pietrangelo but their management seems intent on staying on the plan of drafting and acquiring younger talent; not to say that Pietrangelo is old but they're all rookies and would likely want to grow together.

That being said the notion that they'd offer Matthews is just plain stupid even if it's for Pietrangelo.

There is not a fit here, STL aren't going to trade Pietrangelo. Leafs aren't going to trade any of their big three. Leafs will draft and develop our defensemen, not trade away 20 year old stars to acquire guys in their prime.

People here seem to forget that Pietrangelo himself was a #4 overall pick once upon a time. It would definitely cost Matthews for him and I'd probably even argue that there would need to be a plus with Matthews. Pietrangelo is a #1 franchise RHD.

Ya, no. If St Louis called and asked for any of the three jewels. Lou would put them on speaker phone so the whole management team could share in a laugh. Not going to happen, Toronto is NOT interested in taking a shortcut for the rebuild. Burke isn't here any longer

Glad to see that the majority of Leaf fans are siding on staying with current plan.
Gives me hope that the fanbase is interested in seeing a proper build.

Great to see Nylander being underrated here once again. Kid will be a PPG+ center in his prime for years to come. Those are almost impossible to find.

No short cuts from Toronto. Petro is great but doesnt fit the age group.

Theyd have to add to Nylander or offer Matthews neither of which makes sense for a rebuilding team in their stage.

Parayko makes more sense but i doubt St.Louis is interested, but if St.Louis could resign Shatty it makes both teams better imo, seems that TO fans over value Nylander and other teams fans undervalue him. Reality is somewhere in the middle

Nylander+decent dman for Parayko+decent forward?

Love it, can't imagine the Blues having interest.

What are the Leafs adding to Nylander?

How about the Leafs stay the course. We have Drafted and are developing 3 young Forward studs, why not give management a chance now to draft and develop young D studs.(Nelison, Dermott come to mind) They have showed already they can find a top 4 D man in the UFA market(Zaitsev) So now we have 3 Future building blocks on D(Rielly , Zaitsev, Gards) give it time and they will find us another
