Blues add big. Nylander would instantly become the Blues top forward, and probably their best forward in franchise history. While Petro is good he would be 2nd fiddle to Zaitsev on the right side in a couple years from now when Toronto will be playing in the SC finals.
Look at the last two conn smythe winners, Crosby and Kane. Is it that hard to see that that's where Nylander is headed? Toronto needs to keep him.

Tarasenko says "Hi, I'm still here"

Not a chance from Toronto.

Nylander is a beast. Superstar in the making.

Nylander is better, hands down. Tarasenko is great, just not Willy's level.

I can't believe I am going to get into this but....Ok, by what objective measure are you saying he is better than Tarasenko? Is this based solely on the 12 games? Because if you take Nylander's entire NHL career (which is still a tiny sample size), he has posted a very respectable .73 ppg. However, that is just a 60 point pace. Tarasenko is a multiple 70+ point scorer who has a career .81 ppg playing with a MUCH worse center than Matthews (Lehtera). Are you going just off this year? Its most likely unsustainable. Nylander has just 4 points 5v5. His powerplay production is nice, but not sustainable as the PP point leader last year (Kane) only had 30.

I get that Nylander is new and shiny. I get that he has played well and looked exciting. I get Toronto hasn't had much to cheer about for awhile. But Nylander has much to prove before he is hands-down better than a multiple 70 point, 40g player in his prime. He might get there, but its no sure bet right now.

That's just Tarasenko. Pietrangelo > Tarasenko, at least imo, in terms of importance to the Blues. We are not a playoff team if we trade Pietro for Nylander. That's not a knock on Nylander as he would be of great help. Petro is just too important. He is quietly excellent playing the most and toughest minutes for the Blues. He solidifies our D core. Shatty is a great PP QB. Parayko is an excellent young top 4. But neither could carry half the load Pietrangelo does half as well. He allows them to be ins situations where they can succeed.

You didnt realize the guy was being sarcastic?
thats too bad, looks like you spent a lot of time making that.

if you are gonna knock the kid might as well get your facts straight.
.74ppg career avg (highest in draft class). 5 ES points this year, not 4. 10 of his 13 pts last year were ES, so its not like he isn't dangerous 5v5. Kane had 37ppp last year, not 30.

Willie ended last year with 11 pts in 12 games, and has 12 in 12 this year. forgive leafs fans for being high on a kid who is looking like a 60-70pt player as a 20 year old rookie. he is gonna be a leaf for a long time, unless toronto gets blown away by an offer

RIP Fugu ϶(°o°)ϵ
not even remotely close. an embarrassing offer tbh. lock the thread.

small sample size but its still 12 pts in 12 games as a rookie.
virtanen got 13 in 55 as a rookie for comparisons sake.

any thread that involved Matthews/Nylander/Marner/Rielly should just be insta locked.
they stay in Toronto for a long, long time

Not going to argue but at least we agree that this thread should be locked. Now.

This is a very reasonable post...one of the few in this thread.

This thread deserves clown shoes

It has veered pretty severely off course and really ought to just be closed at this point.
