As you know, I was convinced it was McCarthy.

I’m now wondering if it’s not McCarthy because it’s Maye instead and the fall is real.
I know some of us laugh at him but I was watching Simms' QB rankings cause I needed something to watch while doing my 10k steps. He doesn't like Maye at all and ranked him 6th. I wonder how many organizations in the league have a similar mindset to him. It might be a lot more than us internet nerds think.

I think you’re completely right. Not quite 6th like Simms, but there are going to be teams’ boards that have him as QB4 for sure. And some scouts on some teams will have him 5/6. We overrate what consensus means every year in every sport.

I just want fireworks on the first night of the draft. I will have snacks and chocolate milk prepared. I just want to be entertained, ridicule teams for reaching on Cole Strange's and be angry at Howie for taking Kamari Lassiter over Kinglsey.

Remember back in October and November when I was saying I thought the NFL would like McCarthy a hell of a lot more than the public? I believe I even called him a top 15 pick. Well I was still wrong and dumb as usual.
It’s wild to me that he’s going to be a top 10 pick. He’s very Andy Daltonish to me.

Damn!! I remember in the mid 2010s when Fletch would just dominate opposing o-lines. And then there was Donald who was on another level still and straight up abused these o-lines. And now they're both retiring within a week from each other...

I agree with you in general, but he's a weird profile. Obviously they didn't ask him to throw all that much, but when he did, he was asked to push the ball down the field. He's got a bigger arm than you would guess too. His max throw was ~1 mph less than Josh Allen's at the Combine. But I see quite a bit of talk about him as a developmental dual threat. I see functional movement that can be a real asset, but we're just talking about hitting a floor. There's no meaningful upside in it schematically.

To me, that adds up to a perfectly acceptable late 1st/early 2nd QB and I thought I was complimenting him.

Jerry Rice
Peyton Manning
Dan Marino
Patrick Mahomes
Reggie White
Aaron Donald
Randy Moss
Orlando Pace
Larry Allen
Ed Reed
Justin Tucker

It's so hard to compare eras and positions, but that's my list of guys I would believe are the best football player I've ever seen. I don't even see an argument for holding Donald off of that tier. What a career.

I love that Tom Brady isn't on this list but Dan Marino is

No notes from me

It's not a greatest careers list. So if you saw Brady and Manning and you think you know which one was better however you determine that, I don't think both should be on such a list. If you're not sure, definitely include both.

There's no Lawrence Taylor because White doing it as a true down Lineman in that era is more impressive to me. There's no Calvin Johnson because Moss was better. There's no Ray Lewis because his teammate is the very first name that comes to my mind as the perfect player. Reed also keeps Ronnie Lott and Deion off of the list and I think those last 3 names are perfectly defensible in a top 10 all time list. 2 of them would probably make my top 10.

But I did forget Anthony Munoz. Good luck really evaluating an OL from that far back, but I would believe it with him.

Hey you're not gonna get an argument from me. I still think Peyton is the best QB I've ever seen despite the SB totals.
