If he can get back to his rookie year play it's a great pick up...it is also a big if

I’m sure it’s going to be way less than 7.5. Now with that out of the way…

I have made fun of the people who insisted this man was good for 5 years. Devin White sucked last year. He sucked so thoroughly that he got benched for K.J. Britt, a man who does not belong on an NFL field and basically would never see one unless the guy in front of him was Devin White. Devin White sucked in 2022. Devin White made the Pro Bowl in 2021. He sucked then too. Devin White made the 2nd All Pro team in 2020. He sucked then too. He made the All Rookie Team in 2019. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but he sucked then too.

Devin White has always made splash plays. I get why fans think he’s good. I really do. This hyper athletic 6’0” 235 lb Linebacker flies around the field making plays that seem superhuman. Unfortunately, that’s because after 5 full NFL seasons, the only thing this man knows how to do is fly in one direction trying to make highlights. This is the answer for every aspect of his game. Will he randomly fly through a gap on a blitz and try to obliterate a RB as he takes the handoff? Hell yes. Will he continue to do that very same thing when it was actually Play Action? Also yes. If you need a man who can overrun every play in your opponent’s playbook, Devin White is your man. You have never seen a Linebacker who will blow more coverage assignments than him. They don’t exist because they all get weeded out in training camp.

Literally any other LB you’ve ever heard of in your life that was a free agent would have made me overcome with joy. I was so willing to be happy with crumbs. Just not this motherf***er. At some point, he is going to make plays that awakens that little voice in the back of your head. ‘Maybe he can just stop making the huge mistakes.” Friends, he cannot. Do not fall for his feminine wiles. He has never done anything but shipwreck defenses and it’s too late for him to change. I reject all framing of him as a reclamation project. That requires you once having been good.

It is 2020 Flyers level of arrogance to think you can be the guy that fixes Devin White.

That's pretty..succinct...he was...brutal and bulked when he got less playing time and thought he should be paid very very well...maybe this is a wake up call for him but I doubt it...just about everyone on the Bucs subreddit are glad he is not our problem anymore

White finished outside the top 80 in run-defense grade in each of his first four seasons, and he appears very likely to do so again this year. In fact, White owns a career 27.3 run-defense grade that ranks second worst of any linebacker who has played at least 100 snaps since he was drafted in 2019
