OT: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): Don't Cry Because It's Over, Smile Because it Happened (Offseason - 2023)

Watson got a fully guaranteed $230,000,000 contract. So Lamar is saying he just wants $230,000,001 fully guaranteed. From there you could sign him, based on his logic, to a 10 year 230,000,002 (or a higher number) contract with $230,000,001 fully guaranteed.

Seemingly, he just wants to be able to say he got the most guaranteed money ever. That doesn't necessarily mean he'd have a fully guaranteed contract.

I have a feeling you'll like this mock @JojoTheWhale

10 of course rules.

Man, that board sucks at 30. I would strongly prefer moving out..

Branch is good value there, so I wouldn't complain. He's fun as hell. He's got a super nice floor. But I have pauses with him here. One, I don't think the positional value is where the Eagles will go. Just wouldn't believe it until I see it. And two, I think he's got to be a Slot/Safefy hybrid to take him at 30. They already paid Maddox. I know I say that last bit often, but it does limit how they can use these hybrid guys. You need a plan and you need to he creative to take them at all. Hopefully Desai inspires more confidence there than Gannon did.

More Nolan Smith love for you

The more I read on these other EDGE and DT names that could be available around 10, the more I like them.

So obviously, if someone like Carter (pending off-field issues aside) or Wilson were there at 10, I'd jump at them. If they were going to go CB I'd love Gonzalez first, and then I haven't made up my mind between Wotherspoon and the rest of the field. But if they're not going CB and those TOP tier Dmen are gone, I'm liking what I'm reading up on Van Ness and Smith.

Honestly, besides taking Bijan (which should still produce good/great on field results, it would just be wasted at 10 with all the RB's we already have), I don't think they can really go wrong at 10. They're going to snag an OL or DL/EDGE, and it's going to be nice.

30 is where I worry. I do not want Bryan Bresee. Beyond that...honestly, I think I'm good with a lot of options there. None of them are like jumping out, but I think they'll have a lot of good options.

so i am watching the XFL...and am wondering..how long before there is a summer football league and we has foosball all year round of some sort

When you had NFL Europe the championship game usually took place like a week or two before NFL training camp. I remember Lawrence Phillips was like MVP one year, played in the World Bowl (their championship game) and then was at training camp with the 49ers like 2 weeks later.

Do you take Carter at #10 despite his off-field issues?

@JojoTheWhale

Not only don't I know the answer to that, I don't even know how to approach considering it. I don't know what he did or didn't do. I don't know how he feels about it. I don't know where he's at mentally or where he thinks he is.

When it comes to Carter, my entire take is that he's the best football player in this class if he's physically and mentally healthy. I know nothing else. I have no avenues to ever learn anything either.

Howie has to figure out if Carter hates football and wants to be a fireman like Danny Watkins.

As of right now I think passing on a HOF level talent is a greater risk than selecting a questionable character.

I thought his off-field issues were resolved? I know he has charges pending but I thought they were likely to go away. Maybe I am incorrect but my impression was the charges are basically just that he was in the vehicle when this all went down, not that he was involved in the actual incident nor was he driving. Is that inaccurate? If it is more serious, I'm not interested.

Definitely on board with the draft that has Smith and Branch, though I would like to somehow make it Smith and Robinson.

I think the Eagles take some players completely off their boards if they have serious character concerns.
Or drop them way down.

what would it take to move from 19 to 10? realistically

If it was for a non-QB, roughly 19 + 50 + 2024 3rd. The closest comp here is the Steelers going from 20 to 10 for Devin Bush in 2019.

If it was for a QB, roughly 19 + 2024 1st + a pick or two of roughly the 5th round. That's a very close comp for the the Justin Fields move from 20 to 11.

Exactly why I tag you in these kind of discussions. Good reply.

If he's there and the Eagles don't take him, I have to assume Carter is a major risk. Heck, even getting to 10 is pretty clear he's not in great shape.
