Definitely not, it’s balance. Frankly I think the Flyers are one of the slower playing clubs in the league and handle the puck like ****.

Whether that’s players, or coaching. We shall see.

Slower up front for sure. Add another speedy winger are good.

Our defense is fantastic tho. Big, skilled and mobile. Sanheim, Myers and Ghost. Provy is meh speedy but no slouch either

I think people should prepare themselves for Myers this season.

The only way those numbers are relevant is if you expect them to be repeated and forget how ****ed most of the team was to start last year.
You can't blame mgt for not just sitting and hoping he gets better AND Frost is ready. And if an injury happens, that Pimp is ready.

Adding a C makes sense...as you know I wanted a 1-2 year stopgap because of the kids. But he can move to wing at some point. What I would not do is add another forward. Let Frost fight for that spot.

I agree with you. As of now, assuming he signs, we finally have C depth. Something have not had since our cup run days. And we still have a top 9 winger spot for Frost as of today. If anyone, he is the one who could get AHL time for more seasoning. But right now, if I am Patrick, I am working my ass off all summer to prove to Flyers Mgt that he is the player that deserved to be drafted#2 overall. It's on Patrick.

And for Frost, it's a sign that nothing is being gifted to him. So better work your ass off too.

I have said the issue was going to be term and cap hit that I would not like. But we 100% needed to add someone for 1-2 years at minimum in case the kids DON'T developed as hoped....but I still think they will.

In the end, in 2 years with expansion things can change quickly. And still can make trades in the future. Maybe JVR gets moved in 2 years. Maybe Hayes himself. We have options.
With Nelson getting 6/36 last month I would say Hayes gets at least 6/36. Not something I would consider great value but I can live with it. I have said time and time again that I think Hayes is a better player. If I'm him and his agent I want to get a better deal than Nelson so I am kind of expecting 6/39 which is a little high but oh well.

It wouldn't be a problem if we could trust coaching/management to do the right thing with the kids/roster, but that's not the reality we live in.

Despite some people's complaints about him being treated unfairly Vorobyev clearly showed last season that he is a ways away and likely his upside is that of a really good fourth liner.

Getting deja vu between these Patrick posts and posts about Couturier a few years ago.

Coots was still more productive with worse linemates and way more difficult usage.

No one is saying Patrick WONT produce like we expected, he just hasnt yet.

With Coots, people flat out said he wouldnt ever produce like we hoped.

Agreed. They aren't going the Patrick route with Frost

F*** did I take a beating on here 2 years ago saying Patick shouldn't be in the NHL or should start on the wing

Lots of people made that mistake and it doesn't seem like many learned their lesson.

It’s not his skill I doubt. It’s the health to allow proper growth. He’s had what two concussions? Injured before his first season? More than this?

(Too lazy to look)

Hope he proves my ass wrong.

I don't see it as betting the year on Patrick. I don't think it comes down to him performing or not, last year or this upcoming year.

I think this team makes the playoffs EASILY last year if only two changes are made: stable goaltending all year and the coaches not ****ing everything up.

But because the team crashed and burned last year (in my eyes, due to the two things above) it seems like people are trying to assign too much blame where it doesn't belong and are being reactionary. As if big moves are needed to have a big improvement, when instead it should be KEY changes.

So why can’t we make key changes *and* add talent from the outside?

I don’t think the team was as bad as their record indicated last year either, but I still want a more talented roster. Right now, Hayes is much more talented and effective than several players on our roster. Our roster is better with him than without him.

Exactly. If we did nothing and got the same Patrick and an unready Frist, wtf would would do?

I guess we could trade a 1st and Hartman for a Hayes type guy as a rental.

;)

Hey, we traded a 5th for a guy worth a 1st+. Not the end of the world. But most know we are going to dislike the contract. Par for the course when it comes to UFA's. That Nelson deal sealed it.

We can.

If this gets handled properly then I won't have an issue with it. I just have very little faith it will be.
