What if Chuck trades his rights for a fourth round pick, Hayes then doesn't sign with the team that trades for him, and then signs Hayes after July 1. That would be a Baller ass move

I'd be happier if people weren't saying he is 6'5 but plays like a bish

How you gonna be like that

Still be perfectly fine because that's not what killed us last year.

We'd also have a larger sample size to make smarter decisions off of.

I suggest you look up the Center production of this years playoff teams. We would not have been fine..unless fine to you is maybe sneaking into the playoffs but going nowhere like in 2016 and 2018.

If Patrick has another dissapointing season, theyd have 100% NEEDED a HUGE rookie season from Frost for the Flyers to be a great team.

I present to you, the same guy who will replace Ghost on our top pair.

Being a great team or not won’t come down to him.

I do think it's likely they sign Hayes, just because it's easy to spend a few seconds chatting with an agent or getting permission before the trade goes through. But don't forget the allure of choice to UFAs, and I don't mean just Karlsson and Tavares types.

The great example here is Dan Hamhuis, then with the Preds but widely believed to want to "go home" to BC. The Flyers acquired his rights June 19th, he said nice things about the Flyers, Holmgren said they'd try hard to get him signed before July 1. The Flyers then traded Hamhuis's rights to Pittsburgh June 26th. No deal in Pitt, he signed with the Canucks as a UFA on July 1. Both the Flyers and Pens (and the Preds, too!) had stacked teams but couldn't make him sign.

Just be mindful of assumptions. It's also possible he signs for a palatable number. :crossfing

No, but not being strong enough down the middle can easily cost you a playoff series. Hell, the Flyers probably beat Pitt in the 1st round in 2018 if 18 year Patrick and Filppulas corpse wasnt our 2C/3C combo. They got abused.

This summer will be Bryzaster 2.0. Instead of pressure from Snider, there is pressure from corporate daddy to make a splash. I just hope it isn't a splash from projectile diarrhea.

Fletch:

"We'll certainly have our roster upgraded next year, and hopefully we can find three or four players at 26 years old that we can plug in there for the next 6-7 years."

Given that quote, it could be worse than Hayes, but they are going to sign him too long. If Hayes' agent is smart like Bryz's was knowing the Flyers were willing to bid against themselves to get it done, he will be asking for the moon.

Disagree. From Fletch's comments, they are determined to filling holes, much like St Louis did. All those pieces matter. Bozak as a 3C is a part of that

You think St Louis upset b/c Thomas is on the 4th line? Or that Kyrou was sent back down?

The Flyers signed Bryz to a nine year deal, which isn't even possible anymore (partly because they signed Bryz), and they will be paying him until 2027*. The only way a Hayes deal even approaches the Bryzaster level is if our new center collides with Sanheim, both fall onto Hart, and all three suffer devastating, career-derailing injuries.

*Edit: Striiker will be old enough to celebrate!

It's not a bad move, and he's in his prime..

But for those worried Fletch goes full mental, fingers crossed for a complimentary buyout during the next cba lol
