Unfortunately, despite outshooting Hartford 35-18, that was their only goal as they lost 5-1.
The hazards of having to play an ECHL goalie (Meier) b/c you can't play Ersson every game.

If they are not going to find a way to get another NHL level goalie to back up sandstrum when Hart is hurt (as he always seems to be) then why not bring up Forester. By doing they have obviously thrown in the towel on the Phantoms.

Also, every other team seems to find capable AHL level goaltending.....

Lycksell PP goal, Foerster assist, and I think Andrae assist as well:

That Foerster slap pass was gross -- great shot too. I'm not sure the Flyers have completed a cross ice PP pass like that this year in my watching.

He plays with a nice tempo, which works well on the PP, so how high is ceiling is depends on his PP ability. You have to imagine he's competing with Tippett for that PP role, and Tippett isn't making plays like that with any regularity. He doesn't even have a primary assist on the PP this year. But we know how things operate here.

Torts likes Foerster.

Though next year will be more mix and match, seeing who fits with whom, pushing kids into expanded roles to see how they handle it. I'm sure Foerster will get plenty of PT over the season, he might start on PP2, but will end up on PP1.

You know, rebuilding.

Likes him so much he didn't keep him. There is no indication this team is any different. There's definitely less than no indication Tortorella loves youth as much as you've claimed all year.

This was the time of year where you assured us he'd be screaming for as many youth to play as he could get.

Why aren't the Flyers signing Theo Rochette. He was a TC invitee and seems like a decent risk -- see Avon, Zamula. Of course, he could also be a Pither, but cant be any worse than the no name dman they signed. Oh yeah he was from Minnesota. Thank God CF is gone

I don't get it either. The upside seems to be there and bottom feeders, like who the Flyers currently are, can't be picky!
Of course, we don't know what his camp is aiming for - there could be unrealistic expectations involved on his side.

they used up their contracts signing washed up castoff waiver wire guys.

They may evaluate marginal players differently.

For example, Avon's ceiling is probably 4th line, but he has speed, the frame to grow into, and a modicum of offensive skills. Willman would have been a solid 4th liner if he was stronger and had some more skill, b/c speed obviously helps a forechecker, Willman's problem is when he gets to the puck, he can't make much happen.

On the other hand, someone like Gendron probably has to be good enough offensively to play on a 3rd line, since he doesn't seem well suited to an "energy line" role. So he has to be able to score at a NHL level to make it.

Marody shows skill isn't enough, he's a dominant AHL scorer (has turned it on now that he's healthy), but just doesn't skate well enough for the NHL - but his skill package was worth a gamble that his skating would improve.

Signing players who are obviously marginal.

Rochette is not only undersized, while he's had good regular season stats, last two years in the playoffs, 16g 2-12 14. Not exactly overwhelming at 20-21 years old.

I don't remember him from rookie camp, Avon at 18 made a bigger impression than Rochette at 20.
I think Martel was a better undersized prospect, at least he's had a good AHL career.
