Trying to guess what the Petes may get for Mayer. Keep in mind, they won't be getting an OA coming back in an OA pre-season trade.
Here are the OA Dmen trades from last year as a guide:

Jake Murray (37 pts in 65 g in previous season) ……... traded for 3rd, 3rd, 4th
Gerard Keane (38 pts in 64 g in previous season) ……... traded for 2nd, 3rd, Alec Leonard (04) drafted in 2nd round
Lleyton Moore (54 pts in 67 g in previous season) ……... traded for 2nd, 3rd, 8th, Serpa (OA in return)

IMO, Samuel Mayer is better all round than the three OA Dmen listed above.
Mayer is a beast - physical and he blocks shots.
He is also very durable…...played every game, each of the last 2 seasons!
Last season he had 48 pts in 68 games.

Which teams will be in on him?
OWS looks like they may have a need for a veteran LD
Sudbury, Ottawa, SSM?
Saginaw just picked up Hache, so they are out
Kingston is already lopsided with LHD

Oke should be very busy these first few weeks

I hope he gets back a young F or two in the trades he makes

Why is Othmann listed….? He’s not playing in the OHL as an overaged player.
Sounds like he’s just here to skate but the article in ptbo examiner the other day stated him and Robertson wouldn’t be on the training camp roster but just here to skate. Doesn’t make sense

Really starting to itch for some Petes trade news. Yes the Training Camp, preseason etc will give some opportunities to a lot of young players currently in the organization to make the team and have roles on the team this season and moving forward, but making some deals to bring in some more young and exciting talent to build a new championship core is something to look forward to. Most of these larger scale deals will presumably take place closer to the trade deadline but nonetheless exciting to think about.

I get what you’re saying here -our team has been so quiet-especially compared to other teams.

Personally, I am DREADING trade news -I don’t want to trade anyone -I understand it has to be done and I have faith in our coach, GM -I know they will do what’s best for the player and our team etc ….but I don’t want to hear about any trades at all.

And that is totally understandable but I’m just really excited about the future and as our new President Dave Lorentz has said, he wants to win again and consistently build strong cores and this is the starting opportunity to do so. A lot of our deals this year will most likely revolve around acquiring picks but a couple could net some quality ‘07s and ‘06s and I’m looking forward to that and the next wave. There is going to be a new energy at the PMC this season and I’m all in on it!

Nathan Leek had a couple of really nice goals this morning. I thought Tuin was pretty solid on defence as well… didn’t get to watch a ton of the stream but that’s what I did come away with

I’m looking forward to watching him closely this season. I love the way he plays the game just hope the offence can translate to the OHL level.

Will be going to the afternoon scrimmages this afternoon at 2. Really looking forward to seeing some players in person (Leek, Frenette, Faulkner, McCallum, Tuin, Leet, to name a few)

I think the Petes have something in both Liam Ladds and Carson Cameron I was impressed by both today.

My prediction for further signings this evening McGrail, Vellaris, Larmand and Leek.

After the Maroon and White Game, the following players were reassigned:

  • Maximus Macerollo
  • Owen McNamara
  • Jace McGrail
  • Josh Hutton
  • Taylor Bothwell
  • Declan Bowmaster
  • Reid Forster
  • Lucas Tuin
Can’t say I expected Lucas Tuin and Jace McGrail to leave camp without a contract however, they could always sign during the season and I have a feeling one will.
