I'd give up RNH for either Barrie or Shattenkirk (extended). Would probably even add a prospect like Reinhart. Then sign a 3C in free agency assuming there's one available.

Or if any offensive D are available for picks I'd have no problem with Chia moving next years 1st protected or unprotected depending on the quality of D and/or prospects.

I don't see why the Avs would move Barrie for Hopkins, plus Reinhart adds nothing to the equation.

Wingers? We trade one and suddenly don't have any?

Left - Pouliot, Maroon, Hendricks, possibly Lucic.

Right - Eberle, Kassian, Puljujarvi, Draisaitl was solid on the right wing last year.

They where in big need of a winger even before that trade. The fact that you play center as a winger just shows that.

Lucic is a maybe and is overrated, Puljo is a prospect that hasnt played in NHL yet and Draisaitl is a center. So I repeat what elite winger do they even have now? They traded away the only one they had.

Lol, big need of a winger before the trade? Not really.

Really, do you honestly think he traded Taylor Hall on a whim, without surveying the landscape? Like I said Hall is not as valuable as HF thinks he is.

I think Hall is plenty valuable, it's just edmonton has a ton of one resource, and non of an other. That plus being a disapointment for a while gives you no leverage in negotiations

Winter Haven Florida
New York Islanders Gustav Nyquist

Detroit Red Wings Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

Edmonton Oilers Travis Hamonic+Riley Sheahan.

Would love to add RNH to Detroit and most likely a 3 way is the only way i see it happening.

Pretty sure everyone knows that the Oilers are a better, more balanced team as a result of the trade. It's just hard to believe that Larsson was the absolute best return that they could have gotten for one of the best LWers in the league who's 25 years old.

Maybe more balanced, maybe, but not better. You lose the best player in the trade, and it's not even close, you are not better.

Larsson has top pairing potential and is on a sweet heart deal. NJ wasn't looking to move him at all. Barrie has contract disputes with Colorado so he's about to be overpaid, and he's firmly a 2nd pairing guy. So no, we're not giving Hall type value for Barrie.

Strongly agree with this. If there was a better deal to be had, PC would have made it. Defenseman's values are just at a premium compared to wingers, and EDM had to make a deal, which reduces their leverage.

Still like the makeup of the Oilers more today than yesterday.

All those great forwards can't score if they spend all their time in their own end. I think Edmonton got fleeced in the deal, but I'd surprised if Edmonton isn't a better team next year due to the offseason moves.

Really only way they can go anyway.

I've seen 4-5 quotes from team executives saying they would have paid more for Hall had chia called them. Now of course that could just be posturing to make him look bad but for myself, I believe it completely. I think he's in love with Larsson, the blinders went up and he got locked on getting him.

Now I don't think Larsson is bad by any means, but he isn't worth Taylor freaking Hall. At best Larsson is a #2 d, you can throw all the analytics out there you want and believe me I've seen them. But if you want to be considered a #1 dman in this league you better play rock solid D AND put up over 35 points a season, preferably 40+. Personally I don't see him as being capable of that but I hope I'm wrong, I want to see Connor succeed and not get sucked into the black hole that has been the Oilers for the past 7 years.

Also the fact Oilers fans actually want Lucic and Demers... Can someone please explain why?

Because top6 LW with physical presence and RH 4th D are gaping roster holes.

Star center, solid top6 and NHL average top4. Recipe for escaping the basement, if there is one.

Yeah I don't agree still. As a Flyers fan this feels like JVR for L.Schenn all over again. A top potential LW heading into his prime for a Defensive Dman that failed to live up to the hype. While I do believe Larsson is better than Schenn, I also believe Hall is better than JVR.

Oilers made an impatient move. They were finally on the path to become a powerhouse and they show that they still don't have any solutions. Flyers are finding defensive prospects all over the place, why exactly can't the Oilers?

This is a management issue...again.

Charelli has traded Seguin, Hall, and Kessel, and did not receive the proper compensation from any of those trades.

If Larsson is a true #2 Dman in the vein of Josi, Shattenkirk, Bowmeester, Seabrook, then the trade was worth it. But if the Kid can't put up points, he's not a #2, he's a #3.
