Oh we can try. PK picked up once we got Blue Boy back, take him away.
I'm more shocked the Canucks didn't convert. Their powerplay is better than the Penguins. Their pk is dead last but going 0-5 was surprising. 3 straight heading into this one they had at least 1 goal. Offense isn't an issue for the Canucks, I still think they need to deal Miller or Boeser and their 2nd with Podkolzin to offset Myers cap hit and deal for a top 4. I mean if they add their 1st in 2024 they can maybe land Chychrun.

I mean if you're the Canucks wouldn't you make that splash? You hope for Bedard but it still doesn't fix that D.

Podkolzin/Lekkerimaki
Boeser
Myers

For Chychrun and Soderstrom.

I dunno about that value to comment.

Ty Smith giving Malkin a perfect one timer pass on the PP was nice to see.

There's an art to that pass and putting it in Geno's wheelhouse = goal
True, but it’s also quite entertaining watching letang fire it into genos feet, then geno panicking and flipping a weak backhander back to letang only for it to get picked off for a short handed breakaway and then sully scowl at the bench, but do nothing else

We really suck at defending a lead. Like clockwork, it seems like there's just a bunch of sitting back and allowing the other team a shooting gallery and hope the goalie makes a bunch of saves to preserve the win.

It's just a good job Vancouver's a hotter mess than we are.

“We run an overload, but mostly we let the players figure it out. There is a fine line between managing the puck and sacrificing offense. This obviously doesn’t apply to all players, I really think POJ needs to focus on the parts of his game away from the puckS Ty too. These are professional young men; they will figure it out.”

Is that an actual quote?

But I think we should complain about his weak backcheck and the time he made an errant pass…in time honored STH tradition…

Pens media never likes to discuss both sides, the good and the bad. Just all good all the time. So the Facebook fandom just goes on and on about how the team is flawless.

On a positive note, Geno was absolutely galloping tonight. It's weird with him, you can basically tell whether he's going to be lights out or crap based on how he's moving. Also nice to see Zucker scoring.

On a negative note, Blueger's offensive game has REALLY regressed. The guy has zero offensive touch at this point.

Malkin’s been very good this year. Trochek hasn’t.

I dont think the Nucks want to tempt fates again trading for another Yotes defenseman. :sarcasm:

Lazy Russian, this is why hes only the 101st best player. 2nd place finish in 1 category is unacceptable.

Given their upcoming schedule, this is a game they couldn't afford to lose. Glad they didn't for a laundry list of reasons, but giving up three in about five minutes is no winning recipe.

ESPN showed a clip of Boudreau's PC. He didn't know what to say to the Vancouver media, and then started rambling stupid stuff, it was funny.

CDS has recovered with strong finishes to seasons twice though. So I'm hesitant to not give him that chance.
And Tokarski is a .902 career goalie compared to DeSmith's .915. I would just be waiting for him to fall apart.
There's a chance he doesn't, but I don't like the odds.

Yea we all need to temper our expectations on Tokarski. He's not a long term solution by any stretch. But they should definitely ride him until he slides back down to earth.

I'm over Casey DeSmith. He comes up small in big moments. He had a chance here with Jarry hurt to have a run of strong games and he's had one good game out of four. It's not enough.

At a $1.8 million cap hit, he needs to be more reliable than he has been, even as a back-up.
When your starter is injury prone your backup can’t be bad AND also injury prone. Not having a reliable backup has knocked us out of the playoffs two years in a row

Goodness gracious, Ekman-Larsson and Myers made Dumo look like a decent D-man. Still, nice to see some offense from the Pens, especially Geno who needed a game like this badly. Rakell got a lucky bouncy, he was due one too. Both of our PP goals were a bit lucky and the Canucks PK is hilariously bad but still, we actually utilised Geno's one-timer for the first time in ages and moved a lot on the PP. Baby steps.
Still too many dumb mistakes in defense and not killing off the game earlier despite dominating but a nice comeback, let's see if we can beat any decent team any time soon.

There is no doubt he will soon be a full time NHLer, he should be anyways when were healthy, trade Dumo for assets and play Smith. Hopefully Hextall uses his brain here in the coming weeks..

Also, I know I said it already, but f*** I love these retro jerseys!!!

Am I the only one that had flashes of Patrick Lalime watching Tokarski? lol
