What is up with Zibanejad? Is he playing bad or he's just been unlucky to start the season? I was wondering if I should be trading for him in my fantasy since his value is pretty low right now considering the start he's having.
He's got a lower body injury that he's been playing through (my speculation)

Sorry... couldn't vote Shesty... pulled himself WAY out of position for the wide shot that directly caused the 1st goal.

Otherwise he did play very well tho. I couldn't tell but I thought he got a glove on Crybaby's backhand that then nicked the crossbar/post.

I thought this team showed a lot of push back in the third and much more speed. The start of this game was horrendous but something clicked within the team in the third period. Hopefully that level of intensity can continue!

I liked Rooney in NJ and think he’s a perfect 4th line fit here. Very shrewd signing

Ideally when healthy you’d like to see Lemieux Howden Rooney out there as a solid 4th line IMO

Apparently the reason Kakko didn't play last night was Covid.

Yeah they announced it before the game. He's "in the protocol" but haven't given many details as is expected or allowed. He might not be sick or have it, might be a weird test or potential exposure, or could be worse. We'll probably see in a couple of days

He’s playing absolutely horrible. I wouldn’t trade for him in fantasy, I have him and might try to unload him on someone who’s thinking what you were. Definitely not a case of bad luck though, he’s been genuinely brutal.

With a bit of puck luck and not being hooked on a breakaway he would have 2-3 points today. He had a few good looks with buch and laf. If they continue to play like this the points will come.

Also, gettin pretty sick of playing the Penguins already!
That's kinda the problem with this divisional thing...playing the same teams over and over feels more tedious at some point.

I think the 4th line has been pretty decent this year, though I think they still get caved in on xGF and GA...not sure that completely tells the whole story though as they seem to do a good job forechecking and creating problems for the other team even if they don't get a ton of scoring chances.

Anyways, not a pretty win but probably an important one for the mental state of the team and hopefully something they can start to build off of and move past the distractions of early season

Again with everything that’s happened the Rangers have a chance to be a 500 team thru the first 10 games. That would be quite the accomplishment and I’m expecting that’s the message right now. Get to 500 then build off of that

Quinn would be doing the group a huge disservice by not playing shesterkin in that game

Couldn't watch because I'm a filthy Euro... what gives with Laf's ice-time? Was he on the 4th line or something?

He started and played with Zibanejad and Buchnevich but the Rangers took a ton of penalties and once things got tight in the third I don't think he saw a lot of ice.

Basically Quinn is riding his vets whenever things get dicey. I'm of mixed minds on it...the team needs to get going but I'm not sure the limited icetime for the young players is a great thing either and constantly swapping lines around in game I'm not sure helps anyone

Yes he should "play the hot hand" especially with a long break coming with games at NJ canceled.

I don’t know what to tell you man you continue to ignore math and continue to say yah but he’s good.

panarin kreider lafreniere kakko

those need to be your top 4 wingers

you cannot pay a 5th one big money when you have to pay them and 2 centers.

it is what it is. They aren’t moving those 4 they aren’t burying one of those 4 on the third line long term.

they made a decision when they signed kreider and then they drafted lafreniere. It is what it is.
I understand the math. And let's be clear here. I am not pushing for his resigning or any resigning for that matter. I went from believing that only one of Strome, DeAngelo or Buchnevich will be here here long term, to believing that none of them will be here long term to believing that you need to see how the Buchnevich situation unfolds. There is no "no matter what he gets moved" scenario. Could be that they choose to let the wings drive the plays and have cheap centers. not sure. All I am saying is that I cannot see it being a blanket scenario where he is moved no matter what happens to his play on the ice.

Would have won 6 if Shesterkin simply decided that letting beach balls get by him was not a good idea.

Sure, but Shesterkin played that game after playing a decent although unspectacular game before that. There was no reason to start Georgiev last game. Also, Shesterkin is our #1 goalie, Georgiev will NEVER be more than a backup, too inconsistent.

I am not debating that Shesterkin should have started the game that Georgiev did against the 'Pens. I am simply saying that if he played to an even mediocre level in the first 6 games, the team likely would have had 6 wins.

You are right. Ok. No matter what happens to Buchnevich's play, if he scores 50 goals in 56 games this year or gets over 60 points, he is going to get traded. Ok. You convinced me. Good job.

I know this wasn’t directed at me but honestly

he’s on pace for 18 goals and around 63 pts for a full 82 game year . It’s good but let’s not pretend he’s a super star untouchable player that has to be kept no matter what.

He played 2 bad games. The shootout loss was more bad luck. I guess the tying goal wasn't great, but it was still a bad bounce. The first bad game they had no chance as they scored no goals. So he's responsible for one game.

keep trying to convince yourself the cap doesn’t exist b/c you choose to ignore it.

I just don't see how Kakko and Lafreniere can make it work in this system of Quinn's, where he really trusts his 3rd and 4th liners. The only way Quinn can make it work is to force Lafreniere and Kakko into 1st and 2nd line. Then he can run his 3rd and 4th as checking lines like he pleases. But what would that look like?

Chytils injury is f***ing this up bad. Center depth is killing us.

Players need to earn ice time, regardless of where they were drafted, it's really that simple. Quinn is playing Miller 20 minutes a night.
