All of them are good players. Really good. That´s a fact. This team has very little depth and they would all have been absolutely key now. Your opinion on them is extremely biased and I am not gonna discuss it with you anymore. It is what it is. Getting rid of good players and hiring shits like Granlund and Carter or meaningless Ty Smith.

Nobody is saying they aren't good players.

The issue is they are exactly like every other player we have.

We acquired Petry because he fills a different skill set. Same with Rutta.

Then Dumoulin and Letang fell off a cliff (Letang get's a pass from me this season.)

I argued all last off season to keep Matheson as our top pairing D and Marino and not resign Letang.

The issue is you can't have a right side of Letang and Marino. It consistently got eaten alive in the playoffs.

They've done everything they need to. Leaving for a fourth cup isn't worth it at this stage in their career and is hardly guaranteed.
It is guaranteed that they stay here they won't. And I'm not sure if you understand how athletes are wired. But they do not want to sit on the sidelines while other players are playing for championships and they're not even getting an opportunity. They will get a taste of reality though in a couple days. And they won't like it. And as time goes on the feeling of missing out will only hasten their willingness to leave!

You'll probably be dead by then though sadly.
Sad for who?

For sure. But i just don't see how it's FUN to play hockey here.

Until Sullivan is gone, it's just a f***ing slog.

Id be cool if all three just decide to retire early, too. The only thing going to another team does is get is draft picks to rebuild faster.

If Malkin wanted to leave he had the chance last year.

They are top dogs.

They are paid handsomely or have been.

They are adding to their regular season totals which realistically is all that matters now.

I mean Sid's top 5 all time in playoff points and probably isn't touching any of those above him but Anderson.

First off yeah, I thought it was a very good point. Secondly as far as Malkin goes, I'm sure he signed that believing they would make the playoffs this season. Well, how is that looking? When you miss post season and you're in the Twilight of your career your outlook might change a bit. He sounded pretty demoralized tonight, can't blame him there. But unlike the majority of the posters here (as well as the team itself), I saw this coming.

Why bother even saying something this silly???

One season out of the playoffs in 17 years and you're talking about the big 3 retiring early. Sheesh.

These guys aren't retiring before their contracts expire for any reason other than injury.
