See I don't get why with so many here it's gotta be both in the hate. In this specific argument about Jared, that's all on Sullivan.

Kapanen finished with 14pts in 21 games with the Blues.

Sprong is a 46pt winger.
Marino is a reliable defender for the Devils.
Matheson put up incredible stats in Montreal.

Sully...wouldn't play Doc in the top 6 to even spark anything there or to play off of his strong play. That mental gymnastics of dumbf***ery is 100% Mike Sullivan.

I think the biggest indictment on Sullilvan and Hextall this year is not dropping Dumo for Smith or Friedman for a couple games and samesies with Carter / McGinn for DOC.

Trading for Granlund looked bad then but horrible now. I'm just glad we didn't move out multiple 1st rounders for CHYCHRUN.

I'm not sure what "assets" he's squandered.

Matheson?
Marino?
McCann?
Tanev?

Who is paying major assets for those contracts outside of McCann?

None of those players are foundational players.

We heard what Marino was worth unless we took back cap. It was Rathbone and a pick, Branstrom and a pick, or Smith and a pick.

Matheson was a cap dump here and I highly doubt that changed.

Tanev's contract was awful.

McCann is the only one and I think it's telling a team traded for him and then immediately exposed him.

Uh, he legit made us a worse team ...

You can blame it on Sullivan (I do) but the GM kinda also had a part in it. He brought in players and arguable made us worse. Then panicked and put us in a worse position at TDL. 5 million extra sure would be nice to re-tool.

McCann, Gaudreau, Kap, etc. could have been sorted or traded with some value minus Sullivan.
Edit: We've had capable Bottom 6 players just didn't retain the right ones and we have a coaching staff that has no clue how to coach (that's on Hex)

Not impressed with Hextall at all.

Jake would fetch a sizable return. Especially if we retain.

It doesn't make much sense.

He's going to return a late 1st, a prospect, etc.

This team won't be rock bottom until Malkin walks.

The idea that these players had value is just wrong. We moved McCann and he was immediately exposed. Someone paid assets for McCann only to expose him. That is the only value he had.

If we wanted to "get value" we should've moved Rust, Malkin and Letang last year and then Zucker this year. But that's stupid.

People just need to be more realistic about what brings values. We have a bunch of Smurf wingers who score 20-20.

Nobody moves shit for that. That's why JR could get them all for nothing.

It makes perfect sense, this is not a playoff team anymore. We're going to finish what 15th? Or in the bottom 15? Next year we'll probably be in the top 10 and so on. I still think we'd be able to move some players out. But Jake definitely is the crown jewel. And if Sid wants to go to Colorado we should accommodate him. He shouldn't be subjected to what's about to happen. Cuz it's going to get really bad, make no mistake. And in the short term the worse it gets the better it is in the long term.

You think if Sid leaves Malkin isn't going to do something stupid like put up 100 pts?

The idea of "rebuilding" is over in the next few years is over. It ain't happening.

They are going to likely deal their 1st overall this summer.

Matheson was already really good here. Incredible stats in Montreal are no surprise. But there was no reason to trade him, NONE. Kapanen is also better than Granlund, easily. And we lose him for nothing, throw 2nd rounder out of the window and use capspace for piece of shit that is Granlund. We gift Marino to Jersey, for basically nothing. We lose Tanev and McCann and protect Carter, no team in the league lost more in the expansion draft than us. We extend Carter. I mean, in a lot of cases, Sullivan and Hextall are collaborating. Especially Kapanen and McCann cases. But there was no reason to trade Marino and Matheson, they were already good here under Sullivan, that´s not on Sullivan. Granlund is also not on Sullivan. Some might say use him in the TOP6 instead of Rust. I´m not defending Rust, but I wouldn´t use that piece of shit in the TOP6 anyway, he doesn´t deserve it and I would have zero trust in him there. It´s just terrible player with terrible cap hit and also a terrible FIT.

Conclusion: Sullivan and Hextall are both murders of this franchise. But I would say that Hextall is doing more than 50% of a damage here. Both are brutal tho.

Apparently, Hextall and Sully can't find a single one for our B6...

So they held on to their first rounder only to deal him in the offseason? Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I mean, if somebody gets silly and I offers an unbelievable trade sure. But I seriously seriously doubt that occurs. This run is over whether you like it or not.

Whoever takes over for Hextall is going to be hired as a win now GM

Or they just won't fire Hextall.

If only we had Matheson and Marino we could've blown 3rd period leads, not scored on crucial power plays and lost in embarrassing fashion in three consecutive playoffs!

McCann too!

God, people are so delusional.

I can't believe you think that way. That's just sick! This team is done. No general manager is going to come in and seriously believe this team has a chance to do anything anytime soon. Our core is aging out, and though they had good years they would need the greatest Supporting Cast in the history of mankind to resurrect this team to any level or degree of greatness! It's not going to happen, the party is over it's time to sell them off. Or let them go out there and play and we lose and lose and lose and then just get the best draft picks over the next few years and start a new. Either way that's what's in store.

I highly doubt FSG spent the money they did to have a team sit around sucking shit after a pandemic for 10 years.

I also doubt anyone signs up to be the GM that trades Sidney Crosby. So they will run it back to win it next year.

The John Marino bit is hilarious.

You know what this team really needed... was an undersized 25 pt defenseman who can play the rush but gets crushed in front of the net.

Jesus Christ.

maybe Sid would like to finish his career out with a team that actually has a chance to do something in the postseason. Because it certainly won't be here.

All of them are good players. Really good. That´s a fact. This team has very little depth and they would all have been absolutely key now. Your opinion on them is extremely biased and I am not gonna discuss it with you anymore. It is what it is. Getting rid of good players and hiring shits like Granlund and Carter or meaningless Ty Smith.

Crosby slowed down decidedly over the last dozen games. Doubt we'll want to see him slowly but surely succumb to father time on a crap team..

I mean that's a possibility. But, I highly doubt Sidney Crosby ever asks out.
Well, he's a very competitive player and person. So, missing the Playoffs one year maybe not, but if it happens again who knows. I'm sure he wants at least one more kick at the can. And one of his best friends plays in colorado. Who by the way won't likely win the cup this season. So to resurrect their chances at maybe two cups in 3 years I could see that happening.

Crosby and Malkin aren't leaving.
Don't be so sure my dear friend.
