Just going to put this here but both Tkachuk brothers missed their games last night because of lingering injury issues from the tournament. Could become big issues for their teams the rest of the season.

But I was told by multiple people on HF that the tourney wasn't any bigger injury risk than things like practice. Both Tkachuk's, Shea Theodore and Makar all got hurt during the tourney and that is just the known ones. Possibly Hampus Lindholm, though not sure he was at the tourney, just know he is hurt now. Why I was against a tourney like this midseason. We get lucky that only 2 of our guys made it and didn't get hurt, imagine if even one missed big chunk of games over this nothing tourney.

Oh man that would be an unbelievably pointless way to get injured for the season.
Someone should bring it up in their group chat.

Yep. I am not a fan of this stuff for the same reason. These guys got into it, the games got more competitive, and just like the playoffs guys got hurt.

I'm not sure why anyone would have thought "it wasn't a bigger injury risk" was a good argument. That's just objectively wrong, and not even necessary.

There's no need for anyone to have had an agenda tbh. Frankly I was on team "I don't care about the injury risk, bringing back best on best international hockey is too important to keep making excuses not to."

There's never a "good time" to have such a tournament. The same excuses to not have it will always be there. Most people want regular best on best international hockey again, we kinda just have to live with the side effects. Soccer manages with a high volume of club and international play with an even more clinically insane and outrageous calendar. NHL should just do what soccer does and the contracts players sign should be "with the NHL to play for 'X' NHL team + your national team in NHL sanctioned international events"

Do you think Ove beats Gretzkys record this year? I hope he does and I am Canadian. In fact I hope he does it in a Canadian city. He’ll get a standing ovation
I think the only Canadian road game the Caps have left is at the Jets on March 25, but never say never :DD
